Some of the rants in this episode were epically hilarious. Good job, guys.

Dislike his voice and always found the sax and violin gimmicky and adding little to the music but I saw them at the H.O.R.D.E festival in 1996 and Matthews gave 100%, red-faced with his neck veins bulging as he sang.
Carter is a great drummer. Can't stand them otherwise.
They are tremendous musicians though, it must be said.
I like them ☀
@@Dehazer2112 even if there were a Nr. 6 👍
Can't play their own suckage has to be the greatest line of the year! Brilliant Luis! 😊
I miss the Hudson Valley Squares! I hope Pete brings it back soon!
Axel Rose: If you get past the stinking attitude, the appalling behaviour, the lack of professionalism etc., people go on about his voice with its 5-octave range. What doesn’t help is that every one of those octaves is screeching nonsense!
He sings like Barry Gibb now

When G&R first came around, Alice Cooper quipped - "Now that he is making money, Axl can afford signing lessons." LOL
@@1970borntorun I like what Alice Cooper quipped about Marilyn Manson when he first came out: "Um, let me see. A guy with a girl's name and makeup and does theatrics. I wonder where I've heard that before? It's just shocking....................." Safe to say Alice wasn't a big fan!
@tankmacnamara3734 Well, okay................apparently Alice eventually came around!
Luis can comeback anytime. He's so entertaining.
If you watch In the Prog Seat then you knew that KISS pick was coming from Luis. I was looking forward to that the entire show.
Luis is on point 👉
Luis’ musical opinions are founded and hilarious. What more can you ask for🤷🏼♂️
Love Luis!!!
You guys are all too kind. I love being a part of SoT, and i will come whenever I am invited. Cheers!
Of all the ones for Alo to miss WTF, I'm sure he would have been amazing on this.
yeah missing the king and Steve on this one, shame.
@seekah1 What Steve you talking about?

At the Live 8 concert in London in 2006, Bono took to the stage and declared solemnly, "Every time I click my fingers, a child in Africa dies." CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. A wag in the crowd pipes up - "WELL STOP F**KING DOING IT THEN!"

In Utero isn't really a neutered version of Nevermind, if anything it's the opposite.
I agree, and I don't think Nirvana was on a down projectory at all when Cobain died.
@@steveramsey6562 yeah I think they were getting more experimental/paying tribute to their early influences like the Melvins.
@@alternativepreacher4516 Musically/artistically speaking, you're better off following your own muse, rather than pandering to critics or even your own fans.
I love Nirvana
They both suck, so it doesn't really matter. Again severely overrated band with Sub-Par musicians, at best.
Taylor Swift
Justin Bieber
DJ Khaled
One Direction
Thankfully, I've never heard any of these losers. I only listen to MY stereo.....
Craig’s new catchphrase: “I was promised fucking chili, and I didn’t get any chili.”
Get that man a Pepsi 😉
I can relate. If someone says at 3pm, "We're having pizza/tacos/Chinese food for dinner" my mind and body gets fixated on that. When 6pm rolls around and the menu changes, I'm not happy.😓
Nick dropping the low key Office Space nod..
Love the Venom T-shirt Craig, original Venom with Cronos, Mantis and Abaddon were great, not a fan of the later band with one original member then another, and Demolition Man was no Cronos, Countess Bathory.
@@markkaminski4496 Could never get into Venom. Too many syrupy love songs :)

Even as a Kiss fan, I completely loved Luis rant. 😂
Gotta say that Nick is really shining in this episode.
This show was a lot of fun! I love many of the bands/artists that you had on your hate lists, but it was still entertaining to hear why people hate what they hate.
Ralph for the win with the Grave shirt. "Mass Grave Mass" is one of those songs that obliterate all.
Nick had me laughing at the 31:46 mark. I probably watched that part 10 times in a row.
Ralph got me too, with the chili dog comment.
Hearing Ralph rip on Bruce Springsteen was so satisfying. Preach Brother !
1) Ed Sheeran
2) Disturbed
3) System of a Down
4) Green Day
5) Nine Inch Nails
You guys are right on point!! I THOUGHT I WAS ALL ALONE IN THIS WORLD AND YOU GUY’S NAILED IT!!!
Wow. We're all (the panel and the commenters) pretty united in our annoyance by so many bands. I've never liked any version of Knockin' On Heavens Door, but Axl Rose singing it has to be the song I'd use to torture the enemy.
I like Kiss and System of a Down.
But I think it is hilarious and can perfectly understand why these bands piss people off😂
Everyone brought their A-game on this episode! Luis and Ralph cracked me up the most. I was hoping someone would've brought up Taylor Swift, so that I didn't have to, but oh well!
Great episode Pete! Ralph and Luis were the most entertaining ones tonight!
Ralph bitching about Prince and Jackson was so funny. I love both but I laughed so hard. Love these rant shows even though it's always the same being mentioned.
John Cougar Mellon head
Priceless ….
The guy in the middle didn't hold back. He must be the Paul Lynde of the group.
Even tho I love some of the bands with whom you guys are annoyed, this episode had me laughing out loud.
Luis is quality! We need more from him.
In a fair and sane world, van der Graff generator’s a plague of lighthouse keepers would be the most beloved, appreciated, admired and studied popular music song of the late 20th century
Bon Jovi, Spin Doctors, limp bizkit, Counting Crows, System of a Down, Kid Rock, Korn and slipknot.
Yeah, most of them are pretty bad 😂😂
I agree with Nick on GVF. I worked a gig with them last year. It was a packed house mostly made up of young people in their teens and 20’s with a large portion being females. This is for a band that plays blues based heavy Rock. No samples, no backing tracks, no DJs. Doesn’t mean we have to like em but I was happy to see youngsters supporting real Rock music.
1.poison 2. Warrant 3. Creed. 4. Nickelback
"I'm not going to get my political acumen from some jackass with blue hair" - that's going to be my motto from now on.
@@patrickcrowther9195 billie had black hair, when american idiot came out, this line makes no sense, still a bit funny.
@tankmacnamara3734 Ah, really? Was it at a tv live performance of the song? I only saw him with blue hair early in their career when they were not that political.

Ralphus spitting straight fire. The brilliant lyrics line about the Jackson Five was a legit LOL from me.
It’s more fun hearing genuine passionate music fans talk about bands they hate! It just is! 😂
Coldplay
Don’t hate Coldplay, just find them boring
They did some good stuff early in. Chris Martin is obviously a great songwriter. But their scene chasing got more and more desperate over the years and now they're about as generic as it gets.
@@nectarinedreams7208 yes, their first 3 or 4 albums are pretty good, then it went downhill…
Can’t stand the guys voice.
@@wernermoritz882Clocks is one of the best songs ever
Pete’s comment implying that Nirvana is responsible for the disappearance of solos from rock music really jumped out at me. I’d always blamed that on punk. I don’t hate punk at all as music - I think it can be energizing and compelling and even fun - but I’ve always thought that punk made soloing uncool, and I’ve hated it for that. When people say “old music was better”, I think that’s a big thing they’re wanting in contemporary rock and not getting - an instrumentalist stepping up and making a statement like a singer does. It shifts the world under my feet a little to think that it might be Nirvana’s fault instead.
Listen to the Damned, ripping guitar solos
@@senorfunballThanks - they’re a band I’ve never gotten around to, and you make me want to rectify that.
Well, 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' has a guitar solo. Not a super technical shreddy EVH solo, but it has a guitar solo. So does 'In Bloom'.
Actually, lots of punk has solos. I never thought of it as "music without solos" at all, really. Of course, they were never virtuoso, shredding minute long ones but they're there.
Yep, saw The Damned last year, and Captain Sensible was shredding like a maniac throughout the whole show. His playing is very Hendrix inspired, I was really impressed. The band were killer as well, it was one of the most exciting, high energy shows I'd seen in years.
If you guys all think Mellencamp is annoying, he's even more so when you live in Indiana. Local radio can't stop playing and covering him, and his songs are average at best. It's so bad that when one of his sons gets in a bar fight it's a leading story for week.
Sounds like his sons are a-holes..............................guess they followed in Dad's footsteps.
I drove around Indiana one time, just to avoid all this, but then I accidentally drove through Johnny Depp's hometown, and life was miserable once again!!!
Mellencamp is a douche bag. I’m from Indiana and used to like some of his song. I think it was like 2005 or so I went to see him in Indy. He had a new record out that he was pushing. Was lousy. So the crowd started yelling to play some of th classics. He started scolding the crowd saying THAT IS HISTORY. IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THOSE SONGS PLAY THEM ON CD. We all started booing and a good portion of the crowd including me walked out. A fuckin jackass
Glen Matlock, the bassist and songwriter of the Pistols, has lived a fairly modest life since that record (although he did not play on the record itself). I'm a definite fan of the Pistols, but Metal Box is where it is even more at!
Glen played bass on Anarchy in the UK.
LOVE Metal Box / Second Edition! Easily PiL's best album. Jah Wobble is easily one of the most underrated bassists of all time.
This whole video is hilarious. Great work guys!
Guns N Roses, Poison, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Blink 182
I could go on for a while including a lot that were mentioned! Luis was fantastic, I hope he comes back for more guest appearances here!
Agree with u
🤣 John Cougar Melon-head 🤣
These days he's John Cougar Menstrual Cramp. Such a prima donna
When the show started and Luis' face came on the screen, it only added to the expected fun of watching this episode as I've always enjoyed his participation on the In The Prog Seat episodes. Epic rants provided plenty of laughs. A special thanks to Professor Nasser for his sucking simile of the punctured lung. That one goes into the quotation library for future use. Many thanks to everyone who participated in this episode. Another HVS show for the record books! Thanks again, guys.
I agree Ralph, I never liked Mellencamp 👍
"He used to be a fat bastard, now he's half of one". Some absolute gold in this episode.

John Cougar Mellonhead!!! hahahahahaha
My list is 1 Taylor swift 2 little Wayne 3 Katey parry 4 Niki Minaj 5 50 cent
Yuck. Some of the worst "music" on planet earth.
I'll tell you another one who's really starting to piss me off. Sammy Hagar. He just won't leave Alex Van Halen alone. The man sold his drum stuff because he has no desire to play with without Eddie. But yet Hagar won't let it go running his mouth to the media.
Hagar started pissing me off DECADES ago. He's easily the biggest a-hole in the music business! (Oh, and to say he has a punchable face would be understatement).
Need a part 2. There's plenty more to choose from
For me it's any number of the alternative/punk/pop-punk/skate punk bands I was surrounded with by friends growing up in the 90s. It's all INSUFFERABLE
The worst offenders...
-Blink-182
-My Chemical Romance
-Good Charlotte
-Rise Against
-Sum 41
Fantastic episode, loved all of it.
KISS, U2, Motley Crue, Bruce Springsteen, Guns n Roses
Kiss sucks, Motley Crue is disposable and GNR I have mixed feelings about. I like Springsteen but I'm not in love with Springsteen.
1. Matchbox 20
2. Nine Inch Nails
3. CCR
4. W.A.S.P
5. Motley Crue
1. Michael Jackson
2. Nirvana
3. Limp Bizkit
4. Slipknot
5. Spice Girls
Just listening now, so sorry I'm late, putting my five picks in before listening to everybody's full selections. Also, I'm trying to stick to rock bands, as picking pop, rap, country, etc bands would take forever.
1 LIMP BIZKIT
2 BLINK 182
3 POISON
4 SLIPKNOT
5 NIRVANA
Probably all too obvious, but I'm hard to displease...
Definitely the hardest I've ever laughed at one these that didn't feature Chris Alo
Artists and bands that annoy me, if i rattled them all off my list, I would still be here tomorrow 😅 There's so many but if I narrowed it down, my list would look something like this
1. Justin Bieber
2. Taylor Swift
3. Coldplay
4. Ed Sheeran
5. Guns 'N' Roses
Gretta v F sound like AI generated Led Zeppelin. which is a shame, because they are at least trying to keep the spirit of 70s classic rock alive.
Guns n roses .Lived for years off the legacy of one decent album
R E M . Don't like there sound.
U2 Don't like anything about them
Billy Joel Never cared for that dowop crap
Green day. They make never want to listen to music again.
Ryan said he hates Sabaton but I misheard Savatage and I was whaaat!?! Great show as always guys!
I know I thought he said Savatage too I was like wait wait a minute are you nuts
...Savatage is awesome and totally underated and have been for a long time
Ralph cracks me tf up 😂. His rant about John Cougar Melonhead had me in tears. Wish he talked more.
1. Nirvana
2. The Black Crowes
2. Pearl Jam
4. Limp Biscuit
5. Coldplay
Thank you for mentioning Peatl Jam. I hated their music when they 1st came out and I still do. Their noise doesn't move me at all. Eddie Vedder is the ultimate in pretentiousness. "We're for the common man". BULLSHIT
I agree with your other choices too
Black Crowes are perfect
@@onlysleeping8934 Most overrated grunge band EVER!
Coldplay would be my number one. Can’t listen to them.
I was waiting for something I disagree with. I agreed with everyone's picks.
I'd like to hear the bands or artists each of you actually like that would surprise many of us.
I'm a Yes, Rush, blue oyster cult and Nine inch nails fan. Love late 80s early 90s metal that the Tampa Florida area got started.
I really enjoyed this video.
Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce,
Mariah Carey, Coldplay, all Boy Bands and several others like these
are all very horrible.🎶🎶😆🎶🎶
I like Justin Timberlake. But Mariah Carey is WTF for me? All she does it hit that same one high note, and the rest is who cares?!
Luis is 100% correct about Regeton. Every single song has the same exact rhythm, probably sampled and repeated by every single artist/band. It is insane.
Old school reggaeton is the best. Don Omar, El General, and Daddy Yankee’s prime was amazing and incredibly innovative for Latin music that tried to adhere to the American market at the time. I dislike reggaeton today though. Bad Bunny tries too hard.
The only band that I followed in the 90s - and they're technically an 80s band - was Social Distortion, who nobody ever talks about. Saw them live seven times. And the first Mike Ness solo album was fantastic. So having to endure Green Day's endless popularity has been a bitter pill. And I appreciate all the Nirvana hate - Smells Like Teen Armpit was the day rock died. "Fake heaviness" describes all grunge. A decade of frauds whining about invented despair.
Yeah Social D is damn good
Social D is good, and great guitar solos. I don't know why people say Punk has no solos, most Punk bands have solos.
Luis' rant on KISS 🤣🤣🤣. The Professor would approve!
I remember the Wall. I am in Harrisburg Pa we had them here. And Nick, please dont hold back and let us know how you really feel!!! LOL
Haha this was such a great and entertaining show!
I agree with almost everything you guys picked but I'm actually a pretty big System of a Down fan. Don't listen to them much these days but I really got into them back in high school so there's a lot of nostalgia involved there. Never loved Serj's vocals but never hated them either, and honestly I don't think they deserve to get lumped in with most of Nu Metal (a genre where most of the bands could fit on this list to me), once you get into the deep cuts on their albums there is a lot of cool stuff going on musically.
I also like Rage Against the Machine and Primus, 2 other high school bands for me. Totally get the criticism for all 3 bands though!
Anyway, as I said, great show as always! Was cool to have Luis on with the squares as well.
Cheers 🤘🤘
I really enjoy rock bands on the quirkier and more eccentric side in theory even if sometimes the music isn't exactly my bag, and so i really could never hate a band like Primus. They have so much personality and enthusiasm. They're like noone else and they have the chops of the sort of prog bands many of the SOT listeners (including me) love. yeah their music is weird and sometimes annoying on purpose, but that's also why radio hardly plays them -- and that's a good thing, as they've never really been ruined.
@@DamnableReverend I agree 100%! A lot of my favourite bands are ones that don't sound like anyone else, and I can always appreciate artists that do something totally unique, even if I don't love it.
I'm amazed no one mentioned Coldplay , jesus, if music was a laxative , that band would have everyone shitting bricks.
I mentioned them at the very end; agree with you 100%!
With you!
Saxon’s most current album is great.
It won’t make me very popular, but…
1. Kiss
2. Linkin Park
3. Ted Nugent
4. Motley Crüe
5. Twisted Sister
I like Kiss, but I get your point.
Excellent list👍🏻😎
THey all suck but I do appreciate Nugent.
I DESPISE Green Day with every ounce of my being. Total corporate rock garbage and a phony outrage factory to boot. If I never heard them again it would be too soon! Motley Crue are a close second!
Agree and agree.
They got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of their politics. It certainly wasn't because of their music...
Great choices. Minor point to Nick. Most people stream songs on DSPs, not download them. The industry metric is streams.
Appreciated. Noted.
1. Floyd
2. Eagles
3. Imagine Dragons ( just can't write a complete song )
4. G&R
5. Rap/any Country music after 1970
Mellencamp hates his music too. He hates his career, always has, he despises being a musician, he would rather be known for his art (painting)
I saw him get booed off the stage in 1979 opening for Rainbow when he was just Johnny Cougar.
I agree with you and Ralph. A friend on mine lived near him, and said he used to bum cigarettes off of the locals. Also, he and Meg Ryan would disrupt the local restaurants when they got into shouting matches. He always tried to portray this image of a small town guy, but he's a total douche. I hate the guy- hate him.
Wow, I agreed with every single pick but two others I'm surprised didn't show up - Dave Matthews Band and Hootie & the Blowfish!!
Yes, Jon Mellencamp blows but you need to add Huey Lewis and Eddie Money which equally SUCK!
All good FUN. 🤩 Thanks guys. Very entertaining. 👍💯
exactly!! 🤘
Luis takes any show from 3 to 5 stars. Great addition
Songs irritate me more than artists do. My #1 most hated song is the "Don't give me no lines and keep your hands to yourself" by the Georgia Satellites.
Why doesn't it surprise me that they never had another hit after that? Damn, that song SUCKS!
No huggy, no kissy!
Mind blowing that I too despise the smae music or artists! You made me look into Marillion, Fish, The rest of the entire catalog of Styx, Rush the last 8 albums....and you are always hit the spot! Thank you!!
Nice Nevermore shirt, Rob! 🤘🏼miss them so much.
Me too was able to see Warrel with Sanctuary a few yrs before he passed
Kiss had Paul Stanley, who's voice was awesome.
Awesome episode ,great takes .
Luis is great i love his rants on prog seat show. Hes so intelligent and passionate about his music.
REM.
Motley Crue.
Guns and Roses.
Nirvana.
Anything rap/hiphop.
While I've liked certain songs by some of the bands mentioned tonight, the bottom line for me is: what artists mentioned tonight have I actually purchased music from? The answer is Motley Crue (Shout At The Devil and Theater of Pain,) Nirvana (Nevermind,) Alice In Chains (Dirt,) and Pearl Jam (Ten.) That's it.
What you said!!! Y'all named em all. Everything i never need to hear again. Smashing pumpkins, Green day, foo fighters all are annoying to my ears. Can't stand Korn. Can't stand Snoop, all the pop, the modern country and modern rock sound the same to me...and they sound like commercials. I mostly drive in silence lately 🤔 great to see Luis! You guys Rock!
i once broke up with a girl cuz she put on bon jovi
A valid reason.
🤣🤣
Ted Nugent, Ted Nugent, did i mention Ted Nugent?
🤣🤣🤣🤣I'm right with you. He just wasn't important enough for me to mention.
I expected Luis to list Jon Anderson… but he did mention Olias Of Sunhillow in a negative connotation, so I’m not too disappointed!
Eminem. Zero redeeming qualities..
Man, this was so much fun. You guys tore down some bands I love, but I dont care. Luis comments on Crue and Kiss were specially funny. The top 5 bands that annoy me are Blink 182, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Manowar (I like their early albums, tough, which annoys me ever more).
I hear a ‘97 Honda coming down the street 😂😂😂
Great call on Sabaton! Have been subjected to them numerous times as openers. Absolutely cringe nerd metal. And the ironic posing makes it even worse. I’d say that roughly 95% of the music played on Sirius Turbo is annoying as hell.
I'm pretty sure Kurt Cobain didn't set out to become the face/voice of a generation, as he's become. I think his aim was to do a catchy take of The Pixies just make decent living playing music like those guys or Sonic Youth were doing. And he had great taste in music, he was a big music nerd and I think all his stuff, as limited as it is, holds up. It's just timeless catchy music like CCR or The Smithereens or Celtic Frost (listen to that first Nirvana album). I don't think he was trying to dumb down music, just playing music he liked and it sucks for him that almost everything he influenced ending up becoming so watered down and awful.
Hit the nail on the head there I think. And I do think Pete understands that the band didn't deliberately set out to dumb down music. I would say whatever negative effects they had on the music scene were indirect, and certainly not the band's fault. Yeah, maybe Kurt dissed a few bands in his time (GNR, Motley Crue, Metal Church maybe), but how's that different from what we're all doing here with this video and comments? People ascribe lots of power to successful musicians, but in the case of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain in particular, they never asked for it and never really wanted it.
