If I were a Welling fan I’d be more alarmed at the fact your manager thought if you had equalised you were having extra time and also mentioned replays, everyone knows it goes straight to penalties after 90 mins, clearly he has not done his homework, how can a manager not know this !

What goes around comes around. I watched a Glenn Hoddle interview where he said football management is about "putting your best players that can hurt the opposition in the right positions, its not rocket science." He's right, if you dont do that, then really you dont deserve success. Elliott already has proven successful an attacking partnership with Chuks from last season in mens football with Wingate. Martell on the other hand has no track record in mens football, and is almost invisible as an attacking threat, yet Rod keeps picking Martell instead of exploring other better options within the squad. Gene is our second highest league scorer, with lots of assists, yet Rod plays him as a holding midfielder, so stops him from being in attacking positions to maximise the hurt he can do to other teams. Max is great at getting the ball up to strikers with accurate passes, so would be perfect in midfield to give our strikers the supply they lack, yet he is played as a central defender which stops him from hurting the opposition with his creative attacking passing. So we already have the answers to our problems about not hurting opponents enough, and not creating more and not scoring more, but we are not playing our best players in the right positions to hurt the opposition. In this game Gene played in the correct supporting attacking position, until he had to come off injured, but while he and Elliot were on we had so much mobility in attack, compared to Martell's invisible man. Elliott came off for no real reason. Last game Zain showed how much we have missed him, so losing him again to injury is typical of our bad luck this season so far, as Rhys has been our best player this season, but he's been injured, and wouldn't have conceded the goals his recent stand ins have conceded. Football is all about learning from mistakes, so one doesn't repeat them. But unfortunately the same mistakes keep getting made, with the same negative outcomes. Elliot, Chuks and Gene are our most creative players, but we are lucky if more than one of them is playing in an attacking position, two of them often aren't even being picked.

Elliot did not have a good game. I’m like you, I want to see the partnership with Chuks that got Wingate to a playoff final last year, but Elliot looked totally shot of confidence yesterday & it’s disappointing to see. When you are in & out of the team, you have no opportunity to build any consistency to your own game & that’s exactly what we’re seeing. Totally agree regarding Chuks. Worked hard & offers more than Martell who offers nothing. It’s all very bleak at the moment sadly

    Time to hook Stringer.
