    Well done, Chris! You were subconsciously saying it like a local the whole time. The name originated from the Spanish American War, so Valdez would be right if you were going back to origin. BUT the locals say Valdeeez with the long e (like easy peasy) to differentiate it from the original namesake.

      I am not sure if the names come from the Spanish American War as there are Islands on the British Columbia Coast with Spanish names . They came up the coast of North America in the late 1700s - Malaspina, Quadra, Galiano, Valdés, Cortés to name a few .

    Awesome video. We are full time in a diesel pusher and have been invited to join some friends to Alaska in 2026. My question is could you have done it in your diesel motorhome? Any regrets about the Class C? Thanks, safe travels!

      @oureverydaygetaway  Месяц назад +1

      Good question! Yes we could have totally done the trip in our diesel pusher. Do we regret purchasing our little class C? Not at all. The reason being we were able to boondock at so many epic locations that our dp wouldn't have fit and the ease of travel with Katrina and myself being able to drive. Safe travels and have an awesome weekend.

    Excellent video truly enjoyed watching. So since Alaska gets really crowded around July/August time frame when exactly did you do the cruise in Valdez? Also do you have tucker with you and if so where did you leave tucker? I’m planning on doing Alaska next year and will be traveling with my fur baby also so I know there’s some excursions I want to do so trying to figure this out. 😊

    Why is Valdez, Alaska pronounced differently?
    It is pronounced 'val-deez' with a long 'e' like in the word easy. The reason why we changed it, was to distance ourselves from the original namesake. The people of Valdez wanted something just as different as they are.

      We started our journey in Canada mid May and ended our journey from Alaska at the end of July. The weather was a little colder than we like but we were able to miss most of the crowds early on which made it worth going early. Mid May through Mid July would be perfect in our opinion.

    Hi Chris and Katrina! Great video! The fish looked good at that Mermaid restaurant. How was your fishing experience? Did you get your go? Nice boat ride out to see the mirrored glacier. Nice seeing whales. Was the sea lions. Katrina was saying were cute? I didn’t hear her too well. Just that the best thing she saw that day was Chris. I heard that. That was sweet. Romantic. And she said while you all were on a boat! lol! 😂😂 I was wondering what that nice was while you were on the water. And I think it was sea lions wasn’t sure! Looks like you all are having fun. Hope you have a great weekend and week and see you soon! Safe travels.

      Hey Sherri! It was good and it just kept getting better. We go fishing in the next video or two. The whales and sea lions were great but my favorite were the otters. They are so darn cute! It was the captain of the boat talking over the loud speaker. Oh wait. If you talking about the loud sound that was the ice falling off the glacier. It's called calving. Thank you! Safe travels to you as well.😊

    Good day! Following for
    Our trip in 2025 to Alaska. The other channels with 5th wheels are saying that there aren’t enough boondocking places for 5th wheels ? Do you agree?
    Then to get campground they are all booked ahead?
    As well do you feel you have to have large budget for Alaska !

    • @brucefranklin6765
      @brucefranklin6765 Месяц назад +2

      We took our 40ft Momentum 5th Wheel from Florida to Alaska. We ran into Chris and Katrina in Dawson Creek. On our trip, we made reservations at campgrounds where we really wanted to stay like Seward and Valdez in Alaska and Jasper and Banff in Canada. We found plenty of places to boondock in our 5th wheel in between our longer stays.

    • @oureverydaygetaway
      @oureverydaygetaway  Месяц назад +1

      I would say there are plenty of boondocking places that you can fit a 5th wheel. The only problem might be the time of year you go. We left mid May and had no problems finding spots that would have easily fit 5th wheels. Totally agree about most campgrounds being booked out early. You should definitely book any campgrounds around the major cities/sites well ahead of time. We definitely went over our budget on this trip. We'll be coming out with our budget video for this trip soon that will go into better details.
