Nice trip!!! Super happy to see the Great Egret because I actually saw one VERY CLOSE this past weekend. Hattiesburg has a few small lakes around town, one of which is under the jurisdiction of the university. It's not usually open to the public but I had a chance to be there. Right on the water there was a Great Egret!! He stalked in the water some and then took off - it was AMAZING! And then one of my friend's fellow film students said "Was that an albatross?" Once everyone quit laughing my friend turned to me. "So since you're the bird nerd..." So I guess I kinda HAVE to get better at birding now haha!! (also heard tons of Pine Warblers, so says Merlin, but I never saw one)
I spent a few years fishing that area on the weekends. Shore fishing from Elmer's during the summer was great during the summer heat. At the time, I was a biologist doing research on redheads; a large percentage of their population winter in the Chandeleur Islands nearby.
@@BadgerlandBirding The primary species are redfish and speckled trout (weakfish). BTW, always eat at Salvo's in Belle Chasse when down there. Trust me!
Nice birds! Cool you got a video (even if it was shaky) of the seaside sparrow!
It took a lot of work lol
Nice! Man Im a huge fan I hope to see you there if you go

That’s awesome!
Those were wonderful birds. I recently saw a lifer which was a solitary sandpiper at a lake.
Nice! Congrats!
