    Trypophobia i think also is related to diseases since it can look like diseased skin

    • @dominuslogik484
      @dominuslogik484 6 месяцев назад +81

      yeah the issue with that phobia is that it should be divided between small holes in the skin or just any small holes which at least would remind people of the nests for stinging insects.

    • @heychrisfox
      @heychrisfox 6 месяцев назад +33

      Yeah this is 100% why I get triggered by it. I see weird holes like that and instantly think of that being on my body. Just horrible lesions and stuff. Which is likely where it came from evolutionarily. Nobody wants a debilitating, foreign illness.

    The reason people have Trypophobia is not because people are afraid of the holes themselves, it’s because they are afraid of what might come out of them.

    • @ryantannar5301
      @ryantannar5301 6 месяцев назад +29

      The real reason is that internet hype created a real life phobia due to how viral this kind of stuff went. Researchers have actually studied it and it was a near nonexistent fear up until the internet turned it big. It's a fabricated issue that managed to become a real one. Multiple personality disorder is like this too. Before a number of books and other forms of media brought up the disorder, there were maybe a handful of cases in history and they were likely something else. This doesn't make mpd fake, but the human brain is so wild that a fantasy mental disorder actually impacted the way people think in such a way that the human brain actually CAN shatter into multiple personalities now. The condition is a coping mechanism for trauma so basically the idea was fabricated but once the concept was in the minds of the general public, the brain managed to actually utilize that as a real coping mechanism and now mpd is a real condition.

    Here's a good one , Thalassophobia , you have to be built different to not have at least a bit of it , you'll never catch me swimming alone in a natural body of water where I literally can't see the bottom ( unless I'm 100% sure that I'm the only one chilling there ), I can do it with friends since they distract me from thinking about it , every time I try it I end up envisioning some shark lurking around trying to go after my thick ass

    • @shawnferguson5681
      @shawnferguson5681 6 месяцев назад +11

      I found out I had a touch of thalassophobia at a beach in Hawaii. During a bright sunny day, I swam way out but the water was so clear and the bottom was so far below, I felt like I was gonna fall, so in a panic, I swam back. Embarrassed, I spent the remainder of the day on the beach angry at myself. When it got dark, I realized I wouldn’t be able to see the bottom any more so I swam out again. When I got out about as far as before I was feeling pretty cozy bobbing there in the dark until I felt from below, a sudden upwelling of colder water, as if something very huge had just swam past beneath me. I swam back to the beach in a bigger panic than before.
      No more swimming in the deep parts of the ocean for me, they make me feel so very tiny, I’ll splash on the beach and build sandcastles from now on

    I think I have a phobia that could be considered reasonable.
    I have seismophobia, which is the fear of earthquakes. I live in the ring of fire and we do get strong earthquakes from time to time. One day I was just chillin on the top bunk, and an earthquake happened. I was scared shitless because
    1. we had glass walls which rattled due to the earthquake
    2. I was on an unstable bunkbed
    3. I had like 3 book shelves that were up against the bunkbed, and they were unstable to
    4. and generally we just had a lot of stuff that would rattle like glass objects and such
    with all that sudden noise and movement, from that day on I just couldn't, I would get an INSANE adrenaline rush just from someone saying "I think I feel an earthquake."
    so yeah idk I think earthquakes are generally scary especially with the destruction they can cause.

    Also one time it was the mummy from The Seven Crystal Balls, the ball make you sleep forever and the mummy is gross.

    I can tell you honestly that emetophobia ranks high on the reasonable to cursed phobia list. Reasonable because throwing up is unpleasant to nearly everyone. But cursed because you don't just hate it, you are very terrified of it. Imagine just not eating, even if you starve, because you're afraid the food will not go down and stay there where it belongs. Or being more terrified of airsickness than terrorists or plane crashes. Or needing to take medication that has nausea as a side effect. It's just horrible. And yet you rarely if ever throw up, because I guess you've trained your brain not to make the stomach purge itself every time you feel sick. It's more common than people think.

I have way too many fears that associate with intimacy. One of those fears is being in love because love makes you stupid because love makes you do dumb things or even reckless things and that scares the hell out of me. I’m afraid of all the potentially stupid crap I’d be doing like getting married to someone who makes you miserable and takes all your freedom away from you. Nope I’m too much of a modern woman to tolerate a man taking away all my personal freedom.

    To my understanding scopophobia and its effect of making someone look for people they cant see may be a result of paranoia and insecurity, it usually occurs in uneasy situations and in those situations looking around to ensure your safety is a basic survival instinct, and if you do that enough the chance that you find someone is looking at you increases, since it would be a more significant memory our brains have a bias towards it when preforming recall, which eschews our perception making it seem supernatural
    Trypophobia has a pretty simple explanation, holes closely bunched together, in nature usually suggest disease or a hive of sorts which triggers some peoples brains to associate it with danger and fear

    Like, what if I’m walking near one and my ear gets caught and ripped off? Or I fall and turn my skin into the same pattern as my plaid shirt?

    My brother has Aichmophobia which is a fear of sharp objects which I think(makes sense) as fear since he has had multiple people try to stab him like myself as we live in London.
    Metamfiezomaiophobia=fear of mimes is his other fear which is reasonable as it is French like.

    The most sensible fear in my eyes is Oneirophobia=fear of dreams or fear of night terrors often associated with PTSD like my father who is ex forces had for years about dead friends & such.
    My father has Ophidiophobia=fear of snakes as well as he had a big constrictor try to eat him in his sleep in an undisclosed jungle which he only lived because he had a sterling SMG at hand & a big bowie knife.
    If I have any fear it is a fear of Cachexia as in starvation as I have experienced it at sea for a time & from illness making me unable to keep food down.
    To waste away till my rib cage was visible with eating & drinking an anguish is among my worse experiences for go without food for a week then you will see what I mean.
    Not malnutrition as most of the 3rd world has which is awful but starvation.
    It irritates me when people say they are staring or hungry when they are peckish at best.
    If not that the 'Loss of Autonomy' by disability or illness is a close 2nd of sensible things to fear!
    To be unable to walk or hold yourself up by your might is fvcking awful as no matter what you do your body will not comply as it can't.
    I can see no more sensible fear then the 2 I mentioned if you have ever experienced it then death starts to become a thought in the back of your head that grows louder or you can choose to nothing to conserve energy till something changes.
    My father being ex forces has gone long stints without-food so he can understand that fear but most have never experienced & people thinking fasting is difficult.
    They truly have no idea & their false piety infuriates me as they play martyr!
    Takes a lot to hold hand around those of Abrahamic faith as it is tempting to beat them bloody for their delusion of starvation as an act of piety.
    Time draws out & the most basic of thoughts become muddled with any activity multiple times more straining.
    People think I'm a nutter as I always keep dense food stuff on my person in water proof packaging as well a small knife, field dressing, & other miscellaneous object most would think are useless till you really need them.
    I always carried water in container of some sort but even having biscuits or hard candy on me puts me more at ease as a last result.

    I used to have fagofobia as a kid. I literally only ate liquid food and had panic attacks every time I swallowed. It was pretty stupid yes but you become so hyperaware of a certain bodily function its fucking hell. Also a lot of people with it experience this perpetual feeling of having something stuck in your throat. I got better but for years I could not eat standing up lol. It obviously drove my parents insane and I don’t blame them …. Anyway my 2c as someone with a very rare and dumb phobia.

    Trypophobia has something to do with poisonous amphibian and sea creatures that no longer exist. Those animals pose a far greater threat than other venomous or dangerous animals and should be avoided at all cost which is why it triggers such a big response of fear in people. Fear of spiders and snakes are also products of evolution and they all are normal responses.
