As I said on the reveal video, what's the point of malganis jailer win condition if your control deck already beats aggro (presumably) and control/midrange decks often have non-targeting removal?
Well, you see, if you just wait for your opponent to use up all of their non-targeted removal before playing your cards you've already lost and where were I going with this again?
It shouldn't be the only win condition, but a two-card combo that wins you the game in some cases is worth including in a deck like this. At least, that's the idea
@@BeefinOut Trump would've done a lot better with the deck without The Jailor and Mal'Ganis. Symphony of Sins is enough to beat control unless you face the mirror. Assuming the rest of your deck is optimized which Trumps wasn't because he had to use 10 cards from Festival of Legends. Replace The Jailor and Mal'Ganis with 2 Dirty Rats which can help set up a defile against aggro and if you face control you can Dirty Rat into Twisting or Gigafin. Not to mention pulling out a key card against combo players and auto winning.
@@RazerXPYugioh sure, but, theoretcrafting servers with a few dozen players isn't exactly representative of an actual meta. Jailer + Mal'Ganis is incredibly good if it happens to beat common decks in the meta, and it's two dead cards otherwise; it's hard to tell right now how the meta will shake out.
@@BeefinOut I just feel like The Jailor + Mal'Ganis is just not gonna see play. There's better ways to beat control. It's way too slow against aggro and against combo you might be able to do it before they combo you down but I'm not sure. I guess it will depend on how slow the combo decks are.
Thijs deck basically has your whole decks point as a sub theme, whilst also doing other stuff.

This just in: Control decks with only a single easily-counterable win condition don't work in modern Hearthstone.

@@sunbleachedangel technically he was wrong, he thought warlock would see 0 play but defile ended up defining a tier 3 deck so it was actually a 4 star card. You can watch trump reviews trump reviews knights of the frozen throne to see this. So his rating was off.
@@sunbleachedangel about Defile being a 1 star card? He absolutely was wrong. Defile is an excellent removal tool regardless of Warlock’s power level while Defile was in Standard. If I’m misunderstanding you, then I apologize in advance. But if you’re saying Defile is an objectively bad card, that’s not true.
@@jluchette Well, when Trump does card rating he only rates their potential viabily in the upcoming meta, he rated defile 1 star not because it's a bad card but because he thought warlock would be trash that expansion, and if I remember correctly he was right

Saw multiple control lock decks that seemed to have good winrates. Although I didn't see any that ran the jailer combo. They usually just tried to control the game and cheat out Thaddius or Mal'Ganis for tempo swings or finishers.
this video was super entertaining trump. i even was sad i couldnt see the skipped games. its just interesting to see how it plays out at the start.

I think you just have to include voidcaller into taunt demon. That's the strongest card combo this set has available for warlock.

Absolutely could have won against Neo's Priest if he had used the weapon charges more liberally. He never even got to use the second one. Why hover at such low hp for so long?
Greediness. Trump's issue is that he's overly greedy and forgets the opponent has an actual gameplan who doesn't necessarily revolve around not letting the opponent play and hope for the best. Is like when playing an RPG where you hold up all those potions instead of using them when convenient to make the experience easier.
The way Trump talks about Paparazzi and the theocraft stream rule of including a set number of cards from the latest expansion make it seem he is only losing because of it and not because he have other useless cards that he should cut like Sunfury Clergy.

Why is he worried about opposing Gigafin when he has his own to resummon Mal'ganis? Opponent needs to keep at least Whispers for the Gigafin turn to disable the deathrattle, and even then he could at least retry with Tony.

This deck has a few problems I saw while watching the stream. Against aggressive decks, you'll never get to the wincon and just play like a regular control warlock. Against control and value, more often than not, you lose the combo to a board wipe because both combo pieces die to the same removal. The deck either just plays control or gets 2for1'd so often and probably just needs a better/different wincon. Also playing 19 mana worth of minions seems way to slow to have a good match up against even the slowest decks.
^^^this, in the priest game he lost because he couldn't clear, develop and heal in the same turn multiple times, you have to spend an entire turn playing the jailer and taking all the damage the opponent has on board +1 fatigue, then mal'ganis the next turn unless you happen to have exactly a voidcaller on board to sacrifice on the same jailer turn, then you still lose to hard removal, it just makes no sense without any cost reduction which is why thijs version with thaddius is simply better

Pretty sure if you steal the Svalna spell with Theo the spell still keeps being on your opponents hand, you pretty much only gets a copy of it...
Actually if im not mistaken, they lose the effect and you gain it. I stole one before using Theo and it stayed in my hand while the priest lost it.

Yeps Theo'ed it, slammed the dude with a Wow and Well Played XDXD I was playing a Reno Blood DK, you get Shadow spell DK cards when you use the Svalna spell.

@@Cuestrupaster well it specifically says, 'This Stays in your hand'. So when i stole it, it stayed in my hand instead cause i stole the 'original' Vision of Darkness. Was overpowered when i had it cause the shadow spells for DK are insane.

Control in hearthstone died years ago.
Combo decks are too powerful and can only be defeated by hand/deck disruption. No amount of health or board clear will help you.
i think you had too many do nothing cards (like cleric) and not enough removal. i dont think you beat aggro because too slow, i dont think you beat midrange because lack of removal and i dont think you beat control bc of your slow wincon and no counter play.
And I don't think It can beat combo because no real disruption.
