In this case for you will be the nice news Dvorak Requiem, op. 89 and in the first place excellent Dvorak Stabat Mater, op.58. I wish you great listaening.
Dvořák was a violist and his daughter Magdalena was an alt-singer. It seems his wife was singing too. He did two versions of this Mass, the orchestral version and the organ version. He said to the friend. Wait my wife has to learn the text she will be singing it. He had a very heartwarming relationship with his wife. He didn't want to go to America, he was afraid he will lose his musical ideas but she supported him and convinced him to go there. But he had other colleagues in Czechia, librettists, poem/book artists, friends, and music colleagues. When he did some Opera and needed text he was consulting in letters with them. During Opera Rusalka, he often met with the librettist Kvapil but was annoyed if he couldn't meet him and discuss the work personally because he wanted to get the answer to his letters as fast as possible because he was very much inspired by his own ideas and didn't want to wait as his music progressed fast....So I guess it could be one of the reasons he hesitated to go to America.
Dvořak´s music teacher was dance and church composer and organist Antonín Liehmann. He and Dvořák´s uncle Antonín Zdeněk, noticed Toník´s talent, so they supported him and uncle Antonín Zdeňek also helped them to rent a pub, in Zlonice. Later they even offered financial help together with some people of the village so he may go to an organ school in Prague. So maybe he was inspired. He started to write his first polka with Antonín Liehmann and he was writing his first polka pieces as he heard them in the village balls.
So hard to pick a favorite movement here - one of the most beautiful “Kyrie”s in my opinion, but a unique and layered “Gloria” and a sublime ending “Agnus Dei.” It was a blessing to perform this with Boston College’s University Chorale in 2021. And wow this choir is phenomenal!
Splendid, this spotless and utterly moving performance of Dvorak´s little-known Mass in D-Major op. 86, called "Lužanská" (pronounced Luzhanska) for its first location of performance: the chapel of the castle of Lužany in middle-Bohemia, property of the architect and maecenas Josef Hlávka who commissioned the piece from his good friend Antonín Dvořák ... For those who wonder about the unusual instrumental disposition: this is a reproduction of the first-ever performance (for closed society) in the chapel of the castle that is based on the first (public) performance on 15th April 1888 in the Municipal Theatre of Plzeň (Pilsen, best known as town of provenance of the famous pilsner beer): 2 harmoniums, 1 cello and 2 double-basses ... The first-ever performance however took place in the above-mentioned chapel on 11th September 1887, conducted by the composer with as female soloists Zdenka Hlávková, wife of the commissioner as soprano, and Dvořák´s wife Anna Dvořáková (born Čermáková) as contralto ... Therefore it is no exaggeration to state that this performance is as close as one might get to how the very original performance may have sounded ... The versions with full orchestra or large organ are better known, yet I´m deeply impressed by the original sound of this performance ... Soli Deo Gloria!
Bravissimo ! C'est délicat, détaillé, expressif, raffiné. Un grand moment de musique qui mériterait un disque remasterisé (s'il vous plait). Bravissimo, bravissimo, bravissimo. Et merci pour l'émotion que vous nous partagez.
It is not easy but kyrie and gloria are real pleasure to sing. I sing in choir and we sing these two, really hard but literal pleasure to sing (telling this from my expirience as soprano and basso)
@@adaameeq7114 I sing in a choir that does a classical mass as part of the liturgy, a different one each Sunday. We usually sing this one every other year. It is more difficult than many of the other ones (Haydn, Mozart, Schubert) because the harmonies are more chromatic. The choir in this recording takes the tempi faster, which I think makes the music more attractive.
@@johnkusske7535 I enjoy listening to the Dvořak´s Opera Jakobín... The six voices together are perfect. There is one very excellent version of the 1977, Pinkas version. It's on youtube. Some Czech guy said it's probably the best recording and that they should do this oPera more often also in foreign countries not just in Czechia.,. The voices are beautiful. The singing is a very lively and melodic tune. I don't know how they do it, keep up with it and with the breath and say everything so perfectly and rhythmically. I know they are Czechoslovak native singers. I am also Slovak too. But it's interesting that they sing so flawlessly, yet they stay in the acting role as well, without errors, that they keep singing for so long sometimes. The two sopranos are singing very nicely too.

Dvorak's humility is very impressive. Loves his fellow man loves his family loves Christ. Seeks to glorify God with his art. He recognized the beauty and great ness in the American spiritual.
