Thanks a lot for your kind reply. Yes, I got the answer to my question/concern and most importantly, Sharpness and CA (Two main areas that I needed to know). If you noticed, I didn't ask about micro-contrast and color saturation as Zeisses are synonymous with the BEST COLOR RENDER, among all optics of our galaxy! both hands down. So no need to ask about that. And though I know, you know it very well but for the sake of someone, new to manual focusing, 1:45 "Long Throw" is the best friendly feature, you may wish to get from a manual focus lens. Why? Simple, you have a much better scale and path to nail that critical pinpoint critical focus spot or rather, not to miss it. I'm quite an expert with manual focusing and have a lot of manual lenses. In fact, one of my very favorite lenses, Nikon CAT (Mirror lens) 500mm F5 (Nippon Kogaku Nikon Reflex Nikkor 500mm)would be my most favorite long-range, wildlife, compact, sharp, fast lens,,, if only it had a longer focusing throw (Unlike the F8 version of the same FL Nikkor mirror lens). The problem is focusing range is so short and limited that it is impossible to get an acceptable image from it. Not that it is not sharp or has a flaw. Only simply because the photographer can not stop the lens on the perfect focus at such a high magnification. And I had to initially fight with myself to blame the problem on my unsteady grip/motion artifact/unsharp copy of the lens, etc. But a further detailed study of the lens and using it on a steady tripod and "Focus Bracketing"!!! did prove to me that the lens is fine. Only can't be set to the right focusing point.
Do you prefer to use the Zeiss lens on D850 or NIkon Z ? I have collect many Zeiss ZF lens, still struggling to buy a new D850 or Z for my manual focus lens. They all look stupidly long and unbalance when adapt on Z camera. Mount them on D850 looks reallt sexy, but focusing with optical VF can be difficult compare to EVF focus peaking.
Zeiss lenses do look a little goofy adapted. Focus peaking is pretty accurate although there is some focus shift on some adapted lenses. Moving into the future, it would be a a good move to go mirrorless, but currently, they still don’t touch the d850. That camera is stupid good. But the Z lenses are super fine as well, although cheaper feeling
I went with the zf and adapted it to the RF mount. Main reason was if I change camera systems I can always adapt the lens to another system because of the aperture ring.
Literally "Lightening Speed Response. Man... You're AWESOME. I understand your PS expertise is quite high. So can you "Clone" yourself?! With a few more like you, here, YT will be a heaven... BTW I tried to go to your donation page but the link not working. All I get is a blue error screen with "404 - NOT FOUND" error. Thanks again and You're THE MAN.
