So to avoid any possible confusion and/or complaints. This is only the camera install. I will be releasing another vid soon that details the programming/activation of the back up camera. It is possible to avoid going to the dealer and to program at home! Stay tuned!!
That was a great video. I have the same kit in a 2016 Jeep Patriot, and the instructions that came with it were of no use. I had the programming done at the dealership, but had the black screen saying " Check all your surroundings" After seeing your Video It all came together and voila Camera works. I also found it much easier to solder that T-Splice as you did rather than cut the wire. Thanks for making this video it is the best if not the only vid for us lowly Jeep owners that do not drive wranglers.
Great job explaining all the steps needed to install the backup camera. I agree, the rubber grommet that the wires go through is the hardest part of the job.
Thank you so much for running through this process! I was hesitant to do it myself without knowing exactly what I would be facing when wiring the video line and now...... SO READY to get my hands dirty!
I watched your video and never saw a part 2 but I have been researching online and I found the kit you talked about on ebay for $94. So I take it after you install the camera kit you need a programmer to enable video to your backup camera. I looked at lockpick for mygig but they don't cover my year compass(2016) but infotainment makes a programmer that plugs into the OBD2 port and programs the radio's backup camera video output. So if my understanding of the steps involved if I buy the kit off of ebay and the programmer it will activate the backup camera. You can buy the complete kit camera and all but it's $400 and the camera is a license bracket type which I don't like. FYI I noticed the mounting location on the plastic cover is a good location but on my compass the right side cover tab broke off and I noticed it hanging there so I just drilled a small hole and screwed it on. You wouldn't lose your camera but you would probably notice the video image would look different. Anyway, appreciate you posting that video. I wanted a backup cam but wasn't sure if I could do it. Now I'm pretty confident. thanks man.
Thanks for watching! I think I have your answers and works for your 2016. Check out the programming process here: ruclips.net/video/ESPz2iDWwQA/видео.html

Man, you are meticulous. Looks like a whole days amount of work for a 2hr job. 👍
Hello can this be done for a 2014 jeep grand cherokee I really don't want to pay dodge 900$ to put one in.
Is that RCA cable whip coming off the back of the radio? If so did it come like that or did you have to add it yourself ?
Could you please tell for which color reverse light wire need to hook up the red wire from camera?
White with light green stripe that connects to the reverse light. For your radio, check the diagram on your radio or Google it.
Hy.How long is the video cable?It's 6 m or 10 m?
I don't remember the exact length but I'd go with at least 8m if you have the option.
Hi , how i can use my camera original with aftermarket stereo???
Can u help me ??

Do you have the video for activation?
Yes: ruclips.net/video/ESPz2iDWwQA/видео.html
Actually the red wire goes to reverse light positive wire.
You could, but what was show is the manufacturers recommendation
Which one is the reverse light positive? Do all Models use the same color?
do you have the link for this kit, I couldn`t found it on eBay.
