Awesome video. Full of very good information for Jeep Wrangler back-up camera installation software. A video that everyone should watch. Works extremely well with all the recommended items. 5 stars for this one.
DiagFCA worked and was way cheaper than going to the dealership or paying $200 for a MyGeenie box. Got my rear camera to show up on screen. I have a RHB 430N. I also used my Bluetooth OBD scanner to connect from my laptop to my Jeep with no issues. Thanks for the video!
@@flydaddie I've had a few scanners and that's my favorite so far. I also installed DashCommand on my phone to diagnose issues and get info on the fly while driving.
Just want to tell you I installed and programmed my backup camera which I picked up on ebay and programmed 2 key fobs which saved me a ton of money. Hadn't been for your videos my install would not have gone as smooth as it did. Thanks again my friend.
Would you be good enough to explain the type of backup camera you installed, and the hardware or wiring configuration layout used or needed to accomplished this goal? I plan to install a backup camera on my Jeep Liberty, RER MyGig radio, using the above "Renown Video", and needed to know how it was done. Thanks !
@@josecasfillo3250 Hi, if you haven't watched weakest of weeks install video give it a look. I bought mine from emerald solutions. It's a high quality sony ccd camera and cheaper on ebay. they sell it on their website but it's higher. it's a complete kit with wiring, connector harness, etc. make sure it's specific to your jeep. you also have to program the camera feature on your radio. I bought a obdlink lx bluetooth scanner that plugs into your obd2 port and bought the appcar diagfca software from a company in poland for $49. It installs on your pc(laptop) in my case. programming is easy to do and in my case I was also able to program new keyfobs for my compass as it only came with one. other than that you would have to have it done at the dealer. hope that helps
@@josecasfillo3250 BTW if you order from emerald solutions make sure they send you the 12V camera. They sent me a 6V system which was not going to work for me but they made good and sent the same one in the video. GL
Thanks for doing this all those years ago...I bought a used Wrangler Rubicon JKU and wanted a back camera for off road, this still went as easy as you made it seem, the OBD2 is $50.00 now but still worth every penny! I wish I didn't pay $350.00 for a FlashCal just to re-cal the speedo for 37's
Ordered all the products you suggested and everything worked great. A couple things were different in the wiring on mine but still worked the same. The wife loves having a backup camera now. Thanks for the useful videos.
@@welitonsilveirasilveira5830 I don't have any of that anymore. I believe I ordered the cable from Amazon and don't remember where I got the camera, he says in the video if I remember. I don't even have the car anymore. Sorry.
Thank you so much for this video! The instructions were straight-forward and easy to follow. I used this for a backup camera added to my 2016 Sahara Jeep with the original factory radio. Like other commenters, I wish I had did this before I bought the expensive FlashCal to program the update for the larger tires. This simple fix saved me a lot of money🤑!
Thank you for this video and the other install video they were great. some slight differences but I was able to install a camera and use my existing radio in a 2012 Jeep Patriot. I couldn't have done it without your help. I didn't even know it was possible. Thanks so much !!
great video, very detailed and worked perfectly for my 2013 Jeep JK. thanks for showing this option, much better than the $180 the dealer wanted and now i have a scan tool too!
Or you can just get a OBD port bluetooth dongle and buy the OBD JScan app. Does all that for less, plus you can use an app like Torque with the same bluetooth adapter to have in-motion dials and lots of information about your vehicle. Runs on your phone or tablet and you don't need a computer to use. Very handy on the trail.
Would you be good enough to explain the type of backup camera you installed, and the hardware or wiring configuration layout used or needed to accomplished this goal?
Yep JScan is a great cheaper alternative nowadays. When this video was made that app was in its early infancy and not readily known nor what it is today. A few yrs ago the only other option to program a backup camera was OBDgenie which is $$$$$ and not as useful.
So I'm following your video on a backup camera for a jeep. I have a 2016 Compass. So with a scanner like the OBDlink LX which is bluetooth and appcar app an a paid license fee I could enable backup camera on a 430N RHB mygig radio. I'm asking because I went the OBDGenie route and it wouldn't program my car and infotainment says it has something to do with my car but the programmer is for the camera option on the radio and they couldn't say what the problem was. Anyway had to return it and pay a 15% restocking fee. According to their website my car is listed but this is not the original radio. I replaced the RBZ with a 430N RHB because it has navigation which apparently came out of a 2014 jeep compass and still listed on appcar website.
The 430N RHB with nav is what I have in my 2011 Jeep Compass Limited. The OBDlink cable and AppcarDiagFCA worked perfectly to activate my backup camera setup with said radio. In my opinion the OBDgenie is a giant waste of money for what you get. Go with the the stuff mentioned/shown in my video and you shouldn't have any issues activating. If you have any doubt, sent an email out to the friendly people at Appcar and they'll be able to assure you. They have great customer service!
@@WeakestofWeeks thanks man. appreciate your comment. Think I will go that route because there are other parameters I would like to change and less money. Great video you posted. helps me out a lot.
@@flydaddie So did the AppCarFCA show the camera as being enabled or not? I ask because I am trying to do a full OEM backup camera install on my 2014 Patriot using the camera, and trim and wiring for ParkView equipped Patriot/Compass.

Hello. I upgraded my factory non touchscreen radio to same year factory touch screen radio. I am wanting to add a aftermarket backup camera. Is there a dealer flashing for the radio to work in my vehicle as well or does this take care of it all?
