    Update: 2015 Challenge
    • 100 Day Challenge | Co...
    www.amandanicol...
    Every inch is a success in this challenge but it was much more than just gaining inches it was the breathing, eating and strengthening that really made the difference. I made a lot of progress, even if it's not seen, it is felt. The moves are getting easier but I still have so much more I want to learn, this journey will never be over for me! Now I need to try all of my new flexibility on the pole!!
    I had to re-learn how to breath, breathing even deeper than I ever have before. This allowed me to get into my deepest stretch and than relax my muscles. Almost like tricking them to thinking "this is my new resting position"
    I learned that if I wanted to perform my best and recover as fast as possible I needed the maximum healing powers of the best foods on earth. I used maca root for energy, spirulina, and amaranth for complete proteins, lots and lots of greens, teas made with a bunch of different kind of herbs, barks and berries for maximum immunity and I drank gallons upon gallons of purified water. Of course I didn't eat perfect every day and on those days I was not as productive.
    Some days I had a lot of work to do so I I took it easy on stretching and let my body rest. Although everyday I still did some light active stretching to keep the flexibility I already had.
    The other most important thing I learned was you need to strengthen the muscles in the new found flexible areas. In order to hold your feet to your head you need to have the strength in your back muscles to keep you there. Our muscles have never been held in these positions!
    In conjunction with the touching your feet to your head, the better your splits and the more flexible your hip flexors, the easier it will be to touch your head. Every muscle works together, you just need to be mindful of what muscle is doing what and focus on your breath....it was definitely a challenge to say the least but I'm glad I did it because everything i getting easier and easier!

      Kibe Paris sorry late reply but I think it’s important to say, it was much more difficult in the beginning, I should have shown how awful my entries were and how much I was struggling. After the 100 day challenge everything became easier and less painful.

    All of the people complaining that she's already flexible are missing the point. She's training to be a contortionist, which is extreme flexibility, I would assume flexibility is a prerequisite. And to those saying there's no improvement- we must not be watching the same video. I can see a visible difference in all but one set of pictures. Just because you can only see a little change doesn't mean it's insignificant. This is much harder than it looks, and not all improvements are physical either. She said in the description that she learned to control her breathing, which is great. And I'm sure it's easier for her to get into these position too.

      I agree that a little progress is actually a lot to the person doing it but if she said that in the description then that has nothing to do with the pictures. There’s literally no difference from 1-100 if there is, its a tiny bit that probably doesn’t even help her

    Guys- just because you improved in a week more than she did in 100 days or whatnot, doesn't mean you have to give her crap about it. My mom has been trying to do splits for 2 years and still nothing. Someone can strecth and stretch and push their limits, but results will come slowly.

    So what she improves slower than some people here? The fact that she's improving at all should be celebrated. You can't legitimately compare with yourself because bodies are different, so praise her for going after what she wants, and making progress however slow, instead of putting her down because "you're better than her".

    Ya, this isn't inspirational at all for someone that's just starting out. It's obvious that she had a tonne of flexibility before she even started. She could do things before day 1 that I couldn't come close to. (PS: I'm not fat, just not overly flexible). People with natural ability should never do "inspirational" videos because it just makes all the average people feel like crap about themselves.

    • @AmandaNicoleSmith
      @AmandaNicoleSmith  7 лет назад +54

      I know this is an old comment but I'd like to clarify that "contortion" signifies extreme flexibility. If you compared my flexibility to a contortionist, you'd see that I have a long ways to go to reach that level of flexibility. If you're looking for average flexibility inspiration, definitely don't look for videos with the word contortion in it or you will be sadly disappointed.

    • @sizlax
      @sizlax 7 лет назад +5

      Ya, this is an old comment, since writing this I found out that I have tendinitis in both my arms and probably in my legs as well so contortionism is about the least likely thing for me to ever be successful at.

    Guys- this is _NOT_ her coming from nothing. Even if it was, *_I had my right leg splits the first try when I was five and then after 7 years of not stretching I got it on my first try again_* this is her stretching for 100 days and she said she stretched EVERYDAY for a lot of time. *_NEWSFLASH_* EVERYONE PROGRESSES DIFFERENTLY. She is an ~adult~ and therefore naturally less flexible than a child would be. Leave her alone. I saw a huge difference. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. I had to slow down and learn to relax where I was and breath before I can go back to trying to get my middle splits down more. Also, maybe there were stretches that she didn't do or did wrong. I sure as heck also did and am doing. So instead of making her feel bad for somethi she was so committed to, shut up or try and give her CRITIQUE not hate on her stretches (if she uploads a video)

    The problem why there is no much improvement is that stretching EVERY DAY isn't actually good ! Your body need to rest and to relax ... Pushing your muscles like that evey day is really bad for them. And I see a lot of people doing that , but no! I was doing that too but i was really not improving like a lot ( even if i am naturally flexible) but now I never stretch my muscles every day because when they get sore you have to let them rest and wait the day after to stretch them again . And i see a lot more improvement comparing to the time I was stretching every day ! So that is my everyday routine which I really recommend you to try : one day stretch your leg and the day after stretch your back then stretch you legs , then back...until the week end during which you will rest 2 days . normally you will see a lot of improvement !!
    I hope you understood what I said cause I don't speak English very well so... I hope I helped some of you !

      Thanks Keely, I normally hold each pose for 10 seconds/10 deep breaths, and I do that 4x each side.

    I stretched every day before bed for two weeks and improved more than you did.... What do you consider stretching? It seems like all you did was do each pose every day.

      Sofia Di Gennaro Maybe you're naturally more flexible? I have no idea, she had barely any progress.

    • @sodig325
      @sodig325 6 лет назад +7

      I Am A Random Person Maybe I am, but I definitely think she could have improved more. When I stretch, I push myself until I'm in pain (which you should never do), and that helps me improve really quickly.

    • @jxrbyns
      @jxrbyns 6 лет назад +1

      Sofia Di Gennaro That what I do aswell. The only improvement I saw was Head to Feet. She could of definitely pushed herself further.

    • @AmandaNicoleSmith
      @AmandaNicoleSmith  6 лет назад +14

      Sofia Di Gennaro I stretched for an hour every day, unless I needed a rest, and did 30 minutes of warming up and dynamic stretches before poses. I think because I still did pole dancing and had a lot of stiff muscles from years of wrestling and track that it was harder to relax. The biggest progress I made that year was learning how to control my muscles in each pose and you may not see a big difference but I felt a huge difference. I was also 23 at the time and had no consistent flexibility routine before the challenge, only a consistent strengthening routine.

    • @hannahpotter882
      @hannahpotter882 6 лет назад

      Chris Prentice Guys- this is _NOT_ her coming from nothing.

    Why do you raise your toes when doing a backbend . That ain't correct.
    And there is no big difference in your moves you need to push past your limits to see better and faster result you must not be in a comfortable position while doing the moves you need to work harder and again you need to push past your limits . ( not hating i'm just giving you some tips ) Good luck next time 💚💚

    I think she exaggerates a lot of her inflexibility and I am sure her exercises to become more flexible are great, but for example: her beginning back bend was pretty good, much better than mine, but her toes to head on day 1 was awful? That doesn't really match??? I can almost touch my toes to my head and my backbend isn't anywhere near as good as hers on Day 1. I don't trust that nor do I appreciate it if it is exaggerated.

    • @AmandaNicoleSmith
      @AmandaNicoleSmith  7 лет назад +8

      Honestly, I was not exaggerating, I had never attempted feet to head before in my life and my muscles had no idea what they were doing. Gymnastics had taught me how to do a backbend, splits, and a few other basics, but everything else was new. Muscle memory plays a huge role in what you can do, and with contortion being a completely new ball game, I had to learn how to relax and engage specific muscles in brand new poses.

    • @mariahslittlelamb8049
      @mariahslittlelamb8049 7 лет назад +2

      Well, your flexibility progress is amazing and I am really impressed! I plan on reaching my middle splits by the end of the summer!

    • @JanaPizana
      @JanaPizana 7 лет назад +4

      ... you know, it also depends on body proportions a lot! let's say person n1 has a long torso, but relatively short legs, they will have a much harder time touching their feet to their head, even if they have a quite flexible back, because the distance between feet and head is just very long - on the other hand, person n2, who might have a short torso and long legs will be able to touch their feet to their head much faster, and probably won't need as much flexibility as person n1! :) so that's why someone's backbend might look better than yours, but they can still be further away from touching toes to head! also the first backbend (bridge) depends a lot on shoulder flexibility, which you don't use/need at all when touching your toes to your head, so maybe your shoulders are just less flexible than hers. i think it's not very polite to discredit someone and make them feel bad about their hard work just because you "think" something isn't right, when you're not even well informed...

    • @hannahpotter882
      @hannahpotter882 6 лет назад

      Daniel Sparks my backbend was really good but I couldn't touch my head for quite some time. I used to when I was a lot younger and I can again. It's because I hadn't tried that pose in such a long time

  • @cortneydavid8086

  • @giannal345
    @giannal345 5 лет назад

    I would think, considering that you stretched every single day for 100 days, you'd be a lot more flexible, cuz every single pose you didn't really improve at all on but you stretch every single day so I don't really know how that's possible
