just found you, I just purchased a 56 that needs the front clip re-installed, learned a lot about where the bits and pieces go. Thank you, Enjoy the Chimichanga #2. There should be a button on the microwave.
The chimichanga button. I'm glad to know you got something out of the video. I've got more to learn & more to figure out myself. Best of luck on the project. I appreciate you hanging out.
A big man hug to you bud! Who of us hasn't struggled with a project like that hood, but you did it! Bravo! Your humility and humor makes your channel the best! Wish I was there to help you, God bless and thank you for your great channels!
Last night my main computer that I do youtube videos on crashed.....went to bed frustrated....but woke up to a Freemans Garage video.....that made everything a lot better.
Sir, we had this discussion about that fire wall !!! We need to make it pretty sir. We need to do that and strip and seal the inside of the front clip.. cmon sir, don’t let me down !!! I’m a supporter !!!
Prop rod in the front (I.E. broom handle to hold the front of hood up) then semi tightened the hinges to body , then start each hood bolt in and snug down bud would have been easy . Ask me how I know ! lol start all bolts per parts when all started snug up same on all the rest of the parts , like splash pan , doin a 56 2 dr wagon so I actually know what I’m talking about but hood alone is kinda hard but done like I explained it’s easier
Dam sir, I strike my last comment, I keep forgetting that you’re just trying to slap her together to move… I’m looking forward to this project we’re working on together sir, yes… I’m doing this with you. We’re gonna make this happen.. don’t stress, I got all my own tools. But ur in charge of lunch all the time. 😎💯
I have used the cherry picker to do that in previous videos with other projects. Most of my belongings are packed away in moving boxes. There is no one to help. I plan on fabricating something to make tasks such as installing hoods a snap.
I own probably the same assembly manual and what I totally dislike about them is that the bolt dimensions are not shown and torque specs are not available. You have to use generic torque for Grade 5 bolts because that is the grade of most bolts used. I have seen reprints of similar assembly pages and the bolts and torque figures are given. The people that compiled this assembly manual took the easy way out. When doing final assembly, get yourself a can of Never Seize and coat the treads lightly so later on they will not be fused with rust. Also, if you use stainless steel to assemble anything, it must be coated with Never Seize. Stainless fasteners go together well and often they will gall when removing and that bolt will be broken before the nut comes off if no Anti Seize is used. It doesn't matter which type of stainless bolt is employed, they are the equivalent of a Grade 2 steel bolt but look pretty. Did you lubricate the hood hinge pivot points? East Coast Chevy in Doylestown, PA and Cars Inc in Rochester, MI are 2 good places to get items. Cars actually stamp out sheet metal like a floor pan and other pieces. Many places sell packages of parts and bolts from East Coast Chevy (Ol' 55). Both have good catalogues worth acquiring. Danchuck is pretty much extinct. The business has sold and nothing seems to be happening. Real Deal Steel does not make body parts, they are vendor items only from them. Good luck with the move, hope all goes smooth for you and the car.

I thought that my computer crashing was frustrating....until I saw the struggle you had with that hood.
It seems to always be a struggle.
My wife loved seeing you eat the cold chimichanga 😂😂😂
I loved eating it!

I appreciate that. I'll use your advice when I fix everything.

We make a great team! New tires & wheel treatments are on the car. I think that video will be this Sunday.

Watch old DD Speed shop videos he did a 56 4-5 yrs ago it’s how I’m doin Milne
I will. I'll take any tips I can get.
It looks like you'll have to replace that windshield anyway...
You are not wrong. I appreciate you watching & taking the time to comment.
Take the hood springs off then your hood will go down
You are on to something. I don't know why I wanted to put them on so bad. They can wait.
Just sale it to me so it can get finished
Beat the finder back in place
I've come too far. I need to get set up in OK. I'm in limbo at the moment when it comes to working on the car.
@freemansgarage I was making a joke about selling it to me. It's a very neat car
Pick up the pace man, you worry too much
Agreed. Right now, I'm in a camper in OK so my kid can have me around. As soon as my house in TX finally sells, we'll be in business.
Wondering why you didn't use your cherry picker with some ratchet straps to suspend or support the hood. Or, maybe get a friend or neighbor to help.
Enjoying the series. And good luck with the up coming move to Oklahoma

Thank you so much. I appreciate you watching.
I plan on using my cherry picker when i go to reinstall my hood. as I'm going solo. I could ask my son-in-law if he's available when time allows.
