This, but cut shorter in the front and double long in the back would make an EXCELLENT alternative for brides who don’t want a veil, but still want the drama of a train in the back and some coverage in the front. Then take it off for the reception for dancing, then keep a pair of scissors in your wedding bag and cut off the train before putting it in your suitcase and use it as a cover up for the beach on your honeymoon! VERY VERSATILE PIECE!! Thank you, Orly!!
I've always wanted to make a full on hooded fantasy cloak with tulle to taake hiking lol...all the printed tulles they have now, I could totally make a fantasy fairy cloak to keep bugs out!
LOVE THIS! To prevent possible tearing, a cute appliqué right at the edge on the shoulder would stabilize that arm slit. This is so great for any fashion emergency... Packing for trip? No time for a cover up? Grab your scissors and some fabric. Want to wear the same dress twice? Just top with this! Might be cold outside you've got this. Want to try with a heavier fabric to see what happens! This is so fun!
I want to thank you for your genuine character. You effortlessly connect with everyday people and never come across as showy. Your impeccable sense of style surpasses even renowned brands. May you be abundantly blessed, and I sincerely thank you for the impact you've had on my life. Your journey has ignited a fire within me, and I aspire to make my mark similarly. I'll continue to support and admire you as you inspire others.
Orly you’ve done it YET AGAIN!!! I absolutely am going to try this for a wedding I have coming up that’s formal, but I’m on a super strict budget!! This (I hope) just saved me!!
I tried this about a year ago and made the neck hole way too big (my mistake). I finally came across this again yesterday after coming across some beautiful lace at the thrift store and making it again for a beach coverup. It is beautiful! I think (now that I have learned some sewing techniques) that I will trim it in a beautiful silky material. Thank you, Orly!
Thank you for sharing this! I have nieces in college that have formals & events to go to. I’ve shared this with them. Now they can take that one basic black dress & change it up just by making a different coverup or styling the coverup in a different way (belting it etc.). Thank you so much for this!!
Oh thank you!!! I’ve been looking for something easy to make for my praise dance outfit that easy to take off as a part of the choreography and this is what I’m doing! So thankful and I can’t wait to see what it looks like on us!!!!
Serendipity! I was just about to start a search for a beach cover up pattern when this tutorial popped up. How easy! And it gives adults an excuse to wear basically a superhero cape (sorry Edna!) around nonchalantly.
I love it! I have so many garments on my to-do list! Imagine a nude slip dress with a deep burgundy or red wine stretch tulle 🥴 also the possibilities are endless especially if you choose a solid stretch fabric and decide to so the belt 🤯 instant no sew dress!
Oh my gosh, I love it. It will be nice on my fuller figure. Also, it gives be covered with out getting overheated. It’s very tailored and minimal but with another material you can go all out. You know @stevienicks would love this!
"But why"? More like WHY NOT?! I'd've danced, too! 😂 Many moons ago, my mom made a few of these SIMPLE, timeless, multi-use pieces. They change EVERYTHING!! 💯 Thank you, Orly!
GENIUS! I had a top just like this years ago, where the neck was just cut, and there was one straight line of sewing from hip to armpit, so the middle bit could be as fitted as yo like, and if you had your arms out at the sides, there was fringe sewn onto the sides and all along the bottom, it was SO COOL! I think I could probably make it now seeing this! Sewing tuille looks hard though. Love this one!!!!
@@Orly_Shani Tried to make it twice. The first material I wasn't happy with the end result. Today, I used some pink lacey fabric that has some weight to it. That one turned out nicely. I haven't got a chance to wear it to the beach/pool yet. 🏖️
I found one with a velvet snake design and it's perfect for a rock and roll vibe or for Halloween! I'm going to wear it as part of my witch costume. Stevie Nicks boho vibe!
I feel like this is the best minute formal event. Like you're out of town at a hotel and suddenly get invited to a fancy event, but you have nothing to wear, And you're just like, point me in the direction of a Joann fabric and give me a pair of scissors. I'll be ready in an hour. 😂😂😆
Ciao Orly🥰I love your channel and all your creative ideas And this is another gorgeous one Though personally I'd not leave it like that with no seams at all as it seems "unfinished" to me Maybe sew (or glue from both sides?) a satin band, lace or a simple rolled seam like in expensive scarves to stabilize it As this kind of fabrics usually tend to roll/stretch/run and get wonky too 😘😘😘
If you did it on the point it would look amazing as handkerchief hems. I really love this as a coverup for maybe a bit of muffin top ,rolls visible in a stretchy dress.
wassup Orly!!! the diys that you come up with, is absolute amazballz girl. I have never wanted to diy so many things since the day I found you on my phone. not only are your ideas orsum, but your humor makes me lol like an idiot. please keep doing what you are doing. INSPIRED by OrLy ❤
An old "rule of thumb" way to work out how much fabric you might need to make any fitted garment was twice your length for a 60" wide fabric, or 3 times your length for a 45" wide fabric, and 4 times your length for a 36" wide fabric. For a loose garment like a kaftan it was twice your length on a wide fabric,,, so if the garment length is 22"/56cm, you buy 44"/112cm of fabric, usually add a bit extra for hem and other bits like waistbands, facings, pockets or placards, but for the most part it worked out ok. 🙂 🙃🐨🇦🇺
The width of the goods should work for you. So most goods are 54" - 60" Inches You'll have the width in the front and the back. Then the amount of yardage you buy is just giving you more length
Oh my gosh, I love this! ❤ If I wanted to cut two little holes in the front at waist height to thread a belt through, so the sides of the front part were still able to be flowy, do you think that would work? Or would I need to reinforce the holes somehow so they didn't tear over time?
I just tried this and I unfortunately made the center hole a bit big and its a bit of a stretch so it ended up becoming a bit too wide. I ended up sewing the hole up a bit and used some lace trim for the neckline.
@@Orly_Shani There were so many fabulous choices.....I am going to look for an off white or cream color....it will make me feel elegant! Love your ideas. I made a tshirt skirt dress last week and have worn it 3 times already!!

I did this with a Spanish blanket and made a Spanish poncho 😊 for winter n u can belt it to make it a fall dress ❤
I might give this one a try. I was thinking about getting a cover-up for my new swimsuit. But this looks super easy and should be cheaper.

Cute!!
So cute!!? And I think I have some sheer fabric that would work for it too
Not everyone can pull this style off but you def did
Super cool beans!

Love how simple and elegant, i have shawls and tunics like this but always has flashy glittery stuff that kind of ruins it for me.

😎 awesome
😍😍😍
After watching this video I bought a sequin tablecloth to try this myself. The tablecloth was only $13- much cheaper than fabric. I hope it works out.
Wow! Very "thunder only happens when it's raining."
This reminds me also of the no-sew Sequin Kimono
Totally! Same idea but just cut up center front!
@@Orly_Shani exactly
Where is that pink one piece swimsuit from?!?! So cute!
