I work at an assisted living community and all my elderly residents have been wearing the orthopedic Sketchers flats for years.... I'll have to tell them they're on trend now 😂
I would love a video of you trying to create an outfit for the e aesthetics but with only clothes you currently have just to see how many aesthetics you can recreate with your own clothes.
I knew your PTSD from your previous Rat Life would keep you from EVER participating in the rat print trend. Understandably. I also agree that the Tabi cloven cow hoof shoes will never earn a spot in my shoe shelves.
CARRIEEEEE I WANTED A PAIR OF THOSE SKECHERS ORTHOPEDIC BALLET FLATS SOOOOO BAD IN LATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THE SHOCK IM FEELING THAT THEYRE BACK I definitely won’t be purchasing but I had to get the nostalgia off my chest 😂
Yes!! I don’t know why but I have loved fruit/vegetable/food prints since I was a kid! I see myself still wearing those as an old lady honestly. Give me the food prints 🫛🍓🥕🍒🥑🫐🍅
A couple years ago I realized I was buying a lot of trendy stuff that I would ultimately stop wearing so I made a rule for myself- It can't be both a trendy cut and color. I bought wayyyy too many tops that were a trendy style and color and I literally wore them all like twice. So if it's a trendier style top, I buy it in black. I'll gravitate back to anything black in my closet because it's easy to pair with things. But if it's a simple style top then I might splurge on a trendier color I actually like, like lavender. It's helped me cut back on buying things I don't actually want
I have to agree that like 95% of these trends are just not my journey. However I do like the weirdly name aesthetics because sometimes I can just go into my closet and pull pieces I may have missed and have a whole new way to style them. That could be a fun video. Trying to style fake aesthetic trends with your current closet. Also loving the editing. Your new editor gets a 👍 from me.
The shag/mullet is my faaav on curly/wavy hair! I got a shag cut last year and I get a compliment at least once every time I'm out and about, it's been such a confidence booster! I think it just really compliments those with waves/curls. Plus my big forehead appreciates the bangs LOL
Oh, you just reminded me that I have a bunch of ponchos in my closet and completely forgot because they are tucked away. I doubt I will ever wear them, so I think they need a new home 😊😊l
I prefer this over the “ins and outs” thing, because I wish people wouldn’t encourage things to be seen as “out of style,” so that people could just continue wearing what they want without being criticized for not wearing the newest trends. I think we can love new trends without dissing older ones!
The mullet thing on men. Specifically thinking of like a Kurtis Conner vibe, I've never met a (millennial) man with that hair style that wasn't a feminist good boy. So I dig it for that reason.
I had a shag haircut and I really liked it for me! I do 70s inspired fashion pretty much as my go to these days, so it really fit my vibe. I got my hair cut again last week and asked for a David Bowie mullet. I don't think it's exactly the style of mullet that's trending, but again I go all in on 70s rockstar fashion so i figured i could pull it off. It's so much more of a statement let's just say, than any haircut i've had before. I'm still getting used to it, but i think i'm really into the more androgynous look it gives me. I'm having fun with it anyway! Yes, it's a silly haircut but i'm not a serious person, so it doesn't bother me too much.
I've had my shag for about 8 months now, and you will not catch me going back. My natural curles are living their best life. Also, bless your new editor because they totally understood the assignment
Can I just be an utter hipster and say I’ve been a micro bangs girly since 2010 back in the day we called them “psych-ward” bangs likely because of Angelina Jolie in Girl Interrupted. They go through many iterations but I’ll always love a tiny fringe!
Before now I had never heard of Tabi Shoes and the second I saw them I was like My time has come, time to fulfill my cryptid Faun dreams 😂 I'm actually so excited now because I've been wanting to develop a style in which to combine my love of fantasy into day to day wear that doesn't look costume-y, so thank you so much Carrie for making videos about trends because otherwise I would probably have no idea what styles are out there. Also I lost it when you mentioned a rat trend, who can forget the rat chats of the olden days, I'm so sorry for your trauma 😂 And male mullet appreciation! It is absolutely hot and I'm so glad someone else agrees. As always love your channels!!
I’m loving the cute new editing style Carrie. And of course I loved this video in general (you had me lol 😂). Trends can be cute but classic styles are forever 🌺🌺🌺
I’m not someone who’s into trends, but I’m just watching this because I like hearing/seeing your take on it. Personally, I will buy something if it fits into my own style, and if I really like it I will wear it to death whether it’s still in style or not! Luckily I live in an area of the UK where most people don’t seem to care about fashion! 😂
I have been cultivating that shag mullet look for a little while now and I love it. My hair is also purple at the moment so it really leans into that style. My hair was always having a bad hair day and I just can't reach the level of gorgeous polished that you always seem to land. Your hair is always a 10 outta 10 every time I watch your vids and I KNOW you put in the effort. I'm so glad I leaned into what my rats nest wants to do and I've just been happier ever since. Every day is a good hair day for me now. Hard agree that experimenting is fun but if you know its not for you, you just know it deep down in your bones, its not worth the time.
The amount of laughing I did for you in this video...cracking me up 😂 Especially the micro bangs edited onto you because same. I have a 5 head. It would ne over work 😂 love you.
You talking about lord Farquad (like everyone knows who that is?) 😂 😂 ❤ moments like that makes me feel like im hanging with a friend when im watching your content. Thanks Carrie ❤
it’s so funny that people say the wavy checkered print is outdated / a 2021 thing or whatever bc I literally just in 2024 purchased a rug this print lmfao 😭 I luv it tho tbh but oopsies
i don't follow any trends! you can't keep changing your entire aesthetic just for some trends which won't be around next year!! also loving your editing these days ♥️
I had those Sketchers Mary Jane’s when I was 13 and I styled them with my orchestra dress or matching green limited two skirt and layered tanks 😂 Also ngl the Mullet + dad mustache combo in men is low key hot.
The embossed sketcher flats in the top left corner is what I wore for my middle school photos and no one told there was literal dog 💩 in the grooves of my shoe and now it’s immortalized because you can see the bottom of my shoe in at least 3 of the photos. 😵💫
I’ve never loved tabis and like I know I never will 😂 it’s nice to hear someone say it out loud. I also avoid patterns/prints in general bc my brain prefers solids, hands down. I always love them on others but don’t want them in my closet.
I’d love to see you style some of those micro trends out of your own closet! Also- knit ponchos are back?? I have a vivid memory of doing a closet clean out circa 2008 and wondering “but what if ponchos come back?” and then deciding to donate all of them to goodwill.
The classic haircut and preppy style is a trend too 😉 I like the wolf cut/butterfly cut curly girl styles because they are easy to DIY. The pencil thin eyebrows is what nature gave me and I'm just not interested in being someone else anymore. Or spending money or wasting time on trying. Just like all the "cores". I know what I like and its not neutral. I will always reach for a tropical print first. That's me. It's who I am.
I had the Lord Farquad haircut in my 20s and I don’t think I can ever forgive myself for it. It just didn’t work for me like it does for some people! I also am spiraling thinking about my mom complaining when the 70s came back in the 90s and 2000s. I am that person now. I’m a plus sized 37 year old who is thrifting challenged. I hope to get better at finding things that work for me! I’m still trying to find straight leg jeans that I like on me. Can we slow the trend cycle down a lil bit? Or at least the “ew you’re still wearing THAT style?” cycle. This is my petition to the internet at large, but mostly a challenge to myself to dress in whatever makes me most confident! Love your conclusion on these trends!
LADIES!!! As a Gen X’r who lived through the thin brow trend-DON’T DO IT! Over-plucking will lead to permanent brow loss. Work with what you’ve been blessed. Natural brow is classic. Please.
I think the cherry print is a classic it's been around since the 50's and 60's and still around with the pinup/rockabilly esthetic but it might have been more popular with the fruit print trend that I wasn't aware of (but i'm old and not on tiktok) . Also those sketchers shoes (with criss cross band) I lived in them back in the early 2000's OMG they were black with velvet they were so comfortable and thought they were going with everything, shorts, skirts, dresses and jeans! LOL so funny they came back because once the sole had hole in it a really tried to buy some new one and couldn't found any back in the 2010s... I now wear boat/loafers shoes, they do recreate the same vibe.
I think eyebrows should never be trends. Shape them nicely to your face and let them beeeee
Unless it’s just makeup
Someone should have beaten this belief into Jr high/high school me! My remaining brows that survived are barely holding on for dear life in my 30s
exactly!!
Yeah same with haircuts and colours.
@@nellivilhelmiinaYes!
I work at an assisted living community and all my elderly residents have been wearing the orthopedic Sketchers flats for years.... I'll have to tell them they're on trend now 😂
pleaseee post an update if you do and tell me what they say 🙏🏻
your humour really shined through in this video!! I found myself laughing out loud sm and the editing only amplified that 😂
Ahhh thank you so much, that means a lot! 🥹💞
I would love a video of you trying to create an outfit for the e aesthetics but with only clothes you currently have just to see how many aesthetics you can recreate with your own clothes.
LOOOOVE this idea!!!
“I have a microphone and you don’t” DEAD! 😂😂😂😂
Carrie needs to pin this comment ❤
girl your editing lately is killing meeeeeee 😂 Just in general the format of your videos lately has been so good! I love whatever you're doing
Carrie is being way too nice about some of these trends 😂 It's okay to say some of them are ugly, cause they are 💀
A lot of the fashion trends are horrendous…I can’t stand the granny chic style now it’s ugly lol
I actually gasped when I saw your hair. Perfection!
carrie...your editor is doing the most and it's everything
*Carrie in the most polite tone* “It’s giving Lord Farquaad”
I knew your PTSD from your previous Rat Life would keep you from EVER participating in the rat print trend. Understandably. I also agree that the Tabi cloven cow hoof shoes will never earn a spot in my shoe shelves.
The editor ATE this video
She left no crumbs!!!!
Im not sure why, but in my mind people who would wear tabi shoes would also have micro bangs 😂
as someone who has tabis and microbangs you aren't wrong!!
Fruit has been my fave for so long! I even have a strawberry tattoo! But for me, I hope fruit will be in my closet forever 😅
Saaaaame, I love a good fruit print especially cherries and strawberries 🍓
Yes!! I don’t know why but I have loved fruit/vegetable/food prints since I was a kid! I see myself still wearing those as an old lady honestly. Give me the food prints 🫛🍓🥕🍒🥑🫐🍅
:D "What's is eclectic grandpa? And also is that my style?" LOL. Yep.
the editing of this is FABULOUS!
A couple years ago I realized I was buying a lot of trendy stuff that I would ultimately stop wearing so I made a rule for myself- It can't be both a trendy cut and color. This is genius
Dude this is such a good idea!! Hopefully I remember this 😂
I already survived the pencil thin brows once, i have no desire to do it again.
I have been dressing whimsigoth for the last couple of years and now it has a name and I love it!
I have to agree that like 95% of these trends are just not my journey. The microbang edit killed me 😂😂
“Because I have a micro phone and you don’t” with the tense music and the pan in. God Carrie I love you 😂
"The Lord Farquad" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The shag/mullet is my faaav on curly/wavy hair! I got a shag cut last year and I get a compliment at least once every time I'm out and about, it's been such a confidence booster! I think it just really compliments those with waves/curls. Plus my big forehead appreciates the bangs LOL
This!
+1 to the Tabi take - also that reminded me of the “She’s also UGLY” TikTok audio 🤣
Eclectic grandpa is def you Carrie! In the best way!!
The vacillation between “you look cute if that’s your style” and “they’re so ugly” in the same breath was giving me whiplash
Oh, you just reminded me that I have a bunch of ponchos in my closet and completely forgot because they are tucked away. I doubt I will ever wear them, so I think they need a new home 😊😊l
I've had a short bob with microbangs for three years - glad I'm finally in fashion 😂😂
I feel like the super trendy prints can be done in things like stationary and they won't feel as dated, plus it's really practical!
😂keep sprinkling in wedding singer references, it’s one of my fav Sandler movies. Used to quote it all the time
I watched the Wedding Singer RELIGIOUSLY when I was in middle/ high school. Still one of my top comfort movies.
Ooh! Video idea!! See how many of the different micro-trend aesthetics you can create using the clothes you already own! 💕
I had a shag haircut and I really liked it for me! I do 70s inspired fashion pretty much as my go to these days, so it really fit my vibe.

I'm having fun with it anyway! Yes, it's a silly haircut but i'm not a serious person, so it doesn't bother me too much.
That's sounds awesome! Hair grows back (generally) so why not play with it.
Omg I forgot about your roof rat era lol it also made me realize I’ve been watching you for over 6 years!
I've had my shag for about 8 months now, and you will not catch me going back. My natural curles are living their best life. Also, bless your new editor because they totally understood the assignment

Loving the editing. The Skechers are really comfy but you are right they ain’t cute
1. Your hair looks amazing!
2. The camera quality here is also amazing!
I’m loving these videos about not buying trends
I’m dying 😂 I loved this video so much. Yes 🙌 for being honest
THIS NEW EDITOR!!! 🫶🏻🙌🏼 love this for you two so much. So you and so fun
I’m loving the cute new editing style Carrie. And of course I loved this video in general (you had me lol 😂). Trends can be cute but classic styles are forever 🌺🌺🌺
I had microbangs in the early 2000s. It’s a trap. Do. Not. Fall. For. It!!!!
the editing on this video is sending me!!!
The energy is ✨️chaotic✨️
The editing on this video was chefs kiss😙
LOVE the look and the news reporter fuzzy mic! Proud of you honey :) Love Dad
OMG the cut to you with micro bangs LOL love your sense of humor
Yep..avoiding all of those trends too!
I’m not someone who’s into trends, but I’m just watching this because I like hearing/seeing your take on it. As an emo adult I love the all checker stuff
I have been cultivating that shag mullet look for a little while now and I love it. My hair is also purple at the moment so it really leans into that style. Your new editor is SLAYING
The content and editing on this video is top tier well done ♥️
Carrie you slayed with this video (as always). And also your new editor slayed!! When the micro bangs popped up on you I cackled
Omg the editing is WINNING!
Thank you for the honestly in this video!! As a fellow 30 something I relate hardddd!
This video had me laughing out loud. Loved the editing😭
Girl ur hair is everythinggggg love it
The amount of laughing I did for you in this video...cracking me up 😂 Especially the micro bangs edited onto you because same. I have a 5 head. It would ne over work 😂 love you.

I mean this in the kindest way possible, the look today is giving Garth from Wayne’s world chic
Yes omg that’s what it is!!! Lol
It is an HONOR 🤘
I feel you on the trendy prints!!!! I feel like I buy them and they give me the ick SO quickly!!!! 🙈🙈🙈
Omg not the throwback to the rat era! 😂 that’s around the time I first started watching you!
please tell me the bit at like the 5:30 mark is your new editor 💛 .. and the micro bang thing, right? omg 💚💙
Oh Carrie! This video was insanely funny! Been watchin you for a year straight now and haven't missed a vid 😍
it’s so funny that people say the wavy checkered print is outdated / a 2021 thing or whatever bc I literally just in 2024 purchased a rug this print lmfao 😭 I luv it tho tbh but oopsies
As someone with a chin length bob and a fringe I like to keep above my eyebrows I feel I should be offended but that was fab 🤣🤣
More please 😍
The sketchers z straps!! I had those back in 5th grade so maybe 2007 lol
The editing of this video was both cute and hilarious and i loved it! ❤😊
i don't follow any trends! you can't keep changing your entire aesthetic just for some trends which won't be around next year!! also loving your editing these days ♥️
omg i remember those skecher mary janes! super comfortable.
I love your new editor lol this video was so good
I would listen to a weekly hour long podcast of just Carrie’s opinions on everything 😂
Micro Bangs look good on other people, but on me it would look like I cut my own bangs and totally messed them up😂
I think you would look stunning with a longer butterfly hair cut. Gives a lot of shape with long layers but still looking classically pretty.
Love when you do these videos !
The editing in this vid is elite
Loving this editing style!
lovin your hairstyle today. looks great on you!!!
I really like the glasses on you!! And with your hair… Gorgeous!
I had those Sketchers Mary Jane’s when I was 13 and I styled them with my orchestra dress or matching green limited two skirt and layered tanks 😂
Also ngl the Mullet + dad mustache combo in men is low key hot.
Your hair and makeup look amazing queen
I love the editing on this one! 😍
Yess the Lucille Bluth meme 😂
I love a weekend upload!!
The embossed sketcher flats in the top left corner is what I wore for my middle school photos and no one told there was literal dog 💩 in the grooves of my shoe and now it’s immortalized because you can see the bottom of my shoe in at least 3 of the photos. 😵💫
must of the stuff you're avoiding I totally agree with. I can't wear ponchos or short hair either. :)
I’ve never loved tabis and like I know I never will 😂 it’s nice to hear someone say it out loud.

That St. John’s bay sweater with that logo is sold at J.C. Penney’s right now

omg a bow tattoo?! what a cute idea!
I have a couple ponchos from back in the day and I'm pulling them back out but not looking for new ones
