Tampa is also even more expensive. A small cracker box apartment in a good neighborhood goes for at least 1400. Zero state income tax but also very low salaries compared to other parts of the country. It all balances out though. Won't ever be buried in snow again. Something to be said for that.

I lived in Tampa from 2008-2012 I highly recommend being a roommate first for about 6 months to get a feel of the town and and areas... I lived in temple terrace at the tampa oaks then I found my own condo in New Tampa and when it came to moving back to Ohio I didn't have to worry about my lease sublease the 2 months remainder
I would love to move there. the cost to worry is the HOA. Some communities have a pool. I could careless of a pool. Florida is surrounded by the ocean, lakes and beaches.
If you move here, please dont vote the way your previous state did. You left for a reason dont bring that here. Sales tax is a big diffrence. St pete/clear water is 7.0 Tampa is 8.5. Tampa is the highest in the state. Also learn to drive.

It seems like most people that move here want Florida to remain a "red" state. You are right! That Tampa sales tax is a pain. Just have to come over to Pinellas when you are making a big purchase :)
To add, dump your sports teams. So sick going to a Rays game with a bunch of Yankee fans rooting for the other team. Ridiculous. I moved down from Oreogn in 96 when I was 11. I miss the old Tampa suburbs that didn't have so much traffic it takes 45 minutes to go anywhere or so much development that we have two Bonefish Grills in a 3 mile radius that runs out small business. The boom here from a long time Tampa resident point of view is not all positive.

Our business currently provides commercial, architecture, and residential photography, video, aerial, 360 virtual tours, and virtual staging for the eastern part of Iowa. We know the housing market is on the rise and so is job growth but we have to know that there is a demand for our services before we make the move. If you have any feedback on this subject I would be happy to hear it.
Hey Grant. I believe that the demand for services like that is there, but then the question is really "how will you get in front of people?" If you have a solution for that, then you may have a good chance to get it going down here.

Then I email a few that have great reviews and have been around the area for along time and offer to shoot around 3 properties completely Free so they can see how my company works and get to know the services that we offer. Then by word of mouth and marketing strategies, the company is able to blossom from there. At least that is how I was able to build my business in Iowa. Take care and thanks for the feedback.

Moved to Orlando for a job. Orlando's okay. Moved to West Palm for a relationship. Meh. Out of all of the cities I lived in, I liked the Tampa area the most. I moved from WPB to Atlanta where I lived for 3 years. Too humid (worse than FL IMO) and air quality issues. Moved to San Francisco & lived there for 13 years. Got too expensive so I moved to Seattle. Currently living in Palm Springs after a failed attempt to relocate to London (yes, England). I don't hate it here, but it's clear the desert life isn't for me. Don't want to return to Seattle. Thinking about FL again. I'm retired (not by choice) so I'll either need to find low-income housing or a housemate/flatmate situation. Not sure where I'd live. I've read lovely things about Wilton Manors. Daytona is also an option (love the beach there) but I'm concerned about crime in that area. One of the things I didn't like about FL (and is why I moved to ATL) is the lack of a winter season. Please let know if this answers your questions! *State income tax:* Florida has no state income tax. California state income tax goes up with your income, but it averages out to be 8%. *Flood insurance:* These areas are easy to avoid. But the whole state still experiences a long rainy season where minor flooding is possible, but that flooding doesn't often affect houses. *Alligators:* These are common but they seriously don't care about people. It is not something that you think about having to avoid. *Good areas:* There are so many good areas around Tampa. It really depends what you want to be close to. Thanks for watching!
You really don't have to worry about hurricanes even if it does come to Florida you'll have plenty of time to be notified and you can just move to the other side of Florida is not that big of a deal. Now Gators are absolutely everywhere but just don't linger around the lakes and rivers and you'll be fine. The only thing you really have to worry about are cockroaches

But you can always Escape hurricanes because they know when it's always coming. Why is there nobody on the streets in Tampa? The city has super nice beaches, theme parks, technically a nice boardwalk. But I see relatively little life there as opposed to other big cities in the US and not as diverse I felt. I liked the location, but was kind of disappointed with Tampa as a city.
Yeah it's certainly not the kind of lively city like a lot of others. The evenings and weekends are busier, but only in certain areas. Also, for my shots I'm usually going out in the morning and then spending the evening with my family.

A historic district in any other city would be full. It's a weird place to figure out because some neighborhoods are so far out. Due to the insane real estate prices I am looking farther out but am still deciding how much I like the city. I would contact you.
If I was in my mid 20s, I would want to live in St Petersburg or Seminole Heights. I like all the stuff to do in those areas within walking distance. And I like the lively, grunginess of those areas too.
I wouldn't recommend any RE school. Just get your license online and get to work. The classes just teach you how to pass the test and the actually work is pretty different

try looking in temple terrace? if you work in inner tampa -like westshore, or west tampa or downtown, plenty of people commute as far as wesley chapel (. i know a guy who lives in lakeland and works in south tampa (thats like a 40 min drive, yuck). the only reasonable priced places are north of tampa. seminole heights is a start, and I'd start looking there and make you way up more north. deals come and go. look on every site, fr fr.
If your work is all the way over in Tarpon and Clearwater, Zephyrhills is too far. As I mentioned on another comment, check out New Port Richey. New Port Richey gets a bad rep for some things but as a newcomer, I don't think it is completely warranted.

The rent in Tampa is outrageous, the bugs in the entire state of Florida is outrageous! The traffic, the flooding, the dramatic temperature changes, the hurricanes. The roads are HORRIBLE in condition... pothole's galore! To sum this all up, Florida is GARBAGE!

HOAs are becoming more clear to me the longer I am here. It is pretty easy to find homes with low or even optional HOAs.

The rent in Tampa is outrageous, the bugs in the entire state of Florida is outrageous! The traffic, the flooding, the dramatic temperature changes, the hurricanes. The roads are HORRIBLE in condition... pothole's galore! To sum this all up, Florida is GARBAGE!

The areas right around Tampa are quite a bit more expensive than further out. Even towns like Spring Hill are quite a bit more affordable, and still pretty big.
High insurance because they drive badly
That might be the reason! I have heard a few sides of that argument, and have seen a lot more dangerous driving in some other places.
