One of the coolest Warhammer 40,000 trailers I've ever seen. Seeing Guilliman like this, realist about the true condition of the Imperium, is just amazing. I can't wait for this new edition to arrive!
The poor chap. Knowing what papa Emps wanted vs what the Imperium is now. Someday I hope we get to see papa Emps wake up too and be all like: “What the HECK did y’all do to my Imperium?!? Ya’ll threw away everything I stood for and believed in, but decided to worship me as a deity even though your society is doing NOTHING that I wanted?!?” etc. poor papa Emps
Same sentiment. Really love how they animate him. It also shows how quick the reaction of a Space Marine, he's impaled but quickly reach for his gun and immediately retaliates even after being thrown.
Excellent quality and tone. It's really great to have a trailer that captures the feeling of the prolonged, agonizing battle in which victory is uncertain. Normally it feels like there's one side rolling the other. The all-out battle and momentum swings made this trailer much better.
I know its 40k and its always been grimdark, but this is genuinely like...desperate. Like humanity has already lost and this is the end act where everything comes tumbling down. Seeing that psyker just fail like that hurt my heart a bit
I'd say that the planet system that those Marines are defending is a lost cause to begin with. Do remember that the Blood Raven's, a small almost inconsequential chapter in the grand scheme of 40k is also attacked by Leviathan and are able to thwart the Tyranids from consuming Subsector Aurelia. Come to think of it, maybe those Ultramarines defending that planet are Primaris - genetically superior astartes compared to the old Firstborn yes, but definitely raw recruits compared to the centuries of combat experience the Firstborn has. Not that they're not helpful but yeah, they're getting their asses kicked here! The only ones able to defeat the Blood Ravens is THQ itself by making DoW 3.
This is far and away the best trailer for this universe that we've ever seen. The tone, the audio, the voice acting, the animation. Every facet is utterly incredibly done. Very excited for this new edition.
A space marine is an artificially augmented human who represents one of the strongest warriors humanity has to offer. Put that same augmented human in Terminator armor, one of the strongest and most durable armors available to the imperium and you've got a truly formidable supersoldier. That flying Tyranid tore said supersoldier in half like he was wet paper, just let that fact sink in! 😮
Yeah, that how strong Tyranids are. If things keep going this way, there's going to be all Tyranids, orks, and necrons faction left in this universe 😂. (Nah, im joking)
That scene gave me goosebumps. That and the scene where the guy with the thunder axe is one shot. Truly terrible that which can kill a hero of the imperium with such ease
That is Guilliman in Action. This is his strongest. Not being on the field punching things smaller than him, him organizing things that a billion soldiers can punch things with clean cloths, a full belly and charged mag in the weapon. That is his strong suit
That ending was perfect! “Our People Sing of Victory, Victory as the Galaxy burns, Victory as the Imperium Rots around us, Victory as Humanity Rages against the dying of the light………Victory”
I had to rewind this at so many points for the little details lol. And this trailer def did the Ultramarines some justice. A perfect blend of winning and losing that shows how cool they are vs how dark the galaxy is.
"It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead." This famed quote from The Terminator fittingly describes the superhuman Ultramarines, the diabolical Tyranid hordes, or both.
We got Horus and we got Guillimans animated in these amazing cinematics. Can't wait to see the other primarchs and factions get that same love in these cinematics. Excited for the new lore that's coming with 10th ed
@Adolf Jackson be hopeful, we saw the horus one, we got guilliman, we are sure as hell going to get the lion, I just with vulkans boy would get the last artefacts
other factions and primarchs? sorry, the other factions and primarchs have the same story, it's just red painted, blue painted, green painted, yellow painted space marines... there is no difference. and i love the lore arround wh40 as the nexxt guy, but really man... mostof it is just bullshit and differs just in the color scheme
This felt like watching an animated version of the Crimson Fist in the front of Rogue Trader, pure soldier panic and none of the glorious combat. I can't love it more.
@@DestructoCopter Oh dear god, one can only hope. Finding the missing primarchs like Vulkan, Corvus, Leman Russ (unlikely due to the Wolftime concept), and Khan as well as waking the Lion would be an amazing way to bring them back to help turn the tide for the Imperium.
Very nice, always good to see those small moments when the Tyranids aren't just seen as mindless xeno horrors, but the greater threat of the entire psychic creature they all represent, as seen when the larger xeno forms all snap towards the appearance of the psyker 3:25. Once he's dealt with, the Tyranids can probably start to relax a bit. 😆

Guiliman being presented as such a stoic and indomitable tactician really realises the Warhammer universe for me. Giving us something to relate to and not an abstract construct.
I love that GW have made tyranids seem like the threat they really are with this trailer, and also, turning on the comments for such a momentous occasion!
It could be argued very easily that the Tyranids are a greater threat to the Galaxy then Chaos. Unlike Chaos, the Tyranids can’t be negotiated with. Heck you can’t even communicate with the Tyranids. The only reason why Chaos still tops the Tyranids as a threat is because Chaos is currently more numerous.
This is the first time sense I've become a warhammer fan (2 years) I've seen comments enabled, along with a spot on, smash hit of a trailer. Really like this direction.
You guys managed to make me root for The Ultramarines for once. This was epic! Edit,:My favorite thing to see in these animations is seeing cause for panic within marines. Physical and mental overload that causes them to put in their 100% and get creative. Its one thing to watch them march forward and shoot, but its more fun to imagine how they get down when just shooting and cutting stuff down isn't enough.
ultramarines is such a goody two shoes, they are probably my least favorite chapter. But i hold spacemarine in general as pretty high regard so its not THAT bad :)
Seeing Astartes fight AGAINST the odds is what makes them interesting in the first place in my opinion. The fact that the Librarian was overwhelmed, the terminator ripped apart, several battle-brothers torn asunder by the carnifex etc... These are the heroes that regularly save the day across countless campaigns. *and they are getting slaughtered* Without these events we wouldn't get the sense of "these guys are never making it out of this alive" and that's when it all clicks. Superpowered demigods of war finding their match, facing utter annihilation with grim determination. Only in death.

I mean more blood would've been better, a bit more weathering ...unless the Tyranids take out the primaris before any of them have had time to get muddy ...that would be grimdark
To me it made sense to introduce Primaris marines as a way to up the stake WHILE also making sense that they could lose battles without necessarily losing entire Chapters or Squads. A hundred soldiers per Squad sounds unreasonably small even for an elite battle squad in a universe that spans Trillions upon Trillions of humans and Xenos of varying degree of hostility. They would need lines after lines of recruits ready to step in to become a Battle Brother. With Primaris marines they can technically just have the units at the ready. However I STILL believe they should be treated as Recruits and receive the battle experience like Neophytes would... just cut down to a few years as opposed to decades. This is also why I believe they can finally kill Space Marines in battle and you don't have to suspend your disbelief. You know they are now replaceable. I always thought of it to be a terrible blow to a Squad and a Chapter whenever a Space Marine died given how few they are. One dying being 0.1% of their available man power... and that is A LOT of resource. Now the chaff can be "discarded" and the elites show their prowess.
@@Catonzo Your last paragraph literally describes precisely how Primaris undercut the main themes of what the Astartes were to the Imperium before Primaris. Like, I could copy and paste it, change a few words and have a reason why people *dislike* Primaris
This trailor reminds me of a story that was in White Dwarf back when they first released the tyranids in plastic at the begining of the 00s. A world quickly being enveloped by the swarming monsters, space marines being brutally slain. It still sticks in my mind 20 years later. Roll on the tyranids❤
Guilliman definitely put new hope into the Imperium, whether he wants to believe that it will make a difference or not. But now with the Lion awaking, perhaps Guilliman can start to take a breath and give himself some credit.

Well, considering Tyranids are all part of an hivemind, is like having to mentally fight billions of minds at once.

My only complaint is how fast some of the cuts are, makes it hard to see the details.

1:34 Screamer Killer
2:13 Lictor/Deathleaper
2:24 Bio/Pyrovores
2:25 Hormagaunts
3:29 Unknown, combination Toxicrene Haruspex???
3:34 Small Flyrant/Shrike?
3:48 Zoanthrope?
my guess for the ones at 3:29 is Nautiloid
I love that GW have made tyranids seem like the threat they really are with this trailer, and also, turning on the comments for such a momentous occasion!
It could be argued very easily that the Tyranids are a greater threat to the Galaxy then Chaos.
Unlike Chaos, the Tyranids can’t be negotiated with. Heck you can’t even communicate with the Tyranids.
The only reason why Chaos still tops the Tyranids as a threat is because Chaos is currently more numerous.

*and they are getting slaughtered*
Without these events we wouldn't get the sense of "these guys are never making it out of this alive" and that's when it all clicks. Superpowered demigods of war finding their match, facing utter annihilation with grim determination.
Only in death.

I’ve never been so excited, you managed to make Primaris from something I was indifferent about into something I actively root for. Bravo!👏
Thanks! We're so excited too!
@@Catonzo Your last paragraph literally describes precisely how Primaris undercut the main themes of what the Astartes were to the Imperium before Primaris. Like, I could copy and paste it, change a few words and have a reason why people *dislike* Primaris
