- After many years of hand unloading scrap metal from my M101A2 military trailer I decided to pick up a single axle dumper. Found this Big Tex Model 50SR for a great price and lets see how she holds up against an overweight load. `

if you over load your trailer it would be good idea to add 1 more leaf into each of your leaf springs + reinforce the hangers from 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch thickness, upgrade tires to the next load range up like 8 ply to 10 ply or 10 fly to 12 ply tires or 12ply to 14ply. Drive slow, avoid pot holes. Change the bushings in the shackles every 200 hrs, and carry a spare wheel hub with bearings.
Thanks. I agree the single axle has just 2 tires if you pop. Good tires and 55mph she should be good to go. Clear that Big Tex knows they will be abused and over the weight rating. I like the bigger tandems 90sr and 10sr but they get pricey. Bang fir the buck I think this is a good option. I overload my F150 so this is a much safer option. I’m pretty sure a Toyota Tacoma 🌮 can pull this so it’s an easy sell if I want to upgrade. I’m thinking this is a glorified pickup bed in a good way. So instead of getting a F250 you can get this with the ability to dump and haul.
Nice trailer. I'm not sure why Big Tex can't make a video like this. I'm debating whether to buy or build my dump trailer.

so how much profit is on this kind of a load of steel? how much time does it take to collect all these rotors?
after gas and say 50 bucks truck wear and tear how much net profit is there?

Has definitely been a worthwhile by so far! As I get older, trying to take the load off my wrists and back. Unloading brake rotors was a big offender on the list. lol

I want one of the m101a1\a2 to use as a dump trailer for mulch. Do you think it work work well? A new trailer same size as the big tex is 5500.00 and i can find the old military ones for 1k
Yeah they work pretty well as a dumper. There's a lot of videos showing them in use
Wish it came with a spare tire but I guess you could always weld a spare tire holder.
