I completed my fist service on my jaguar xf today and used your video as a guide, thank you. The undertray is quite difficult to remove. It's a pity Jaguar didn't put a hole/flap in it near the oil sump to enable an easier oil change. In my case someone over tightened the fasteners with an air gun and damaged some of the clips. The outer edges ones were all torn. Next time I will probably extract the oil with an electric oil remover. Too much haste raising the car up on axle stands and crawling underneath.

On my way this weekend to secure a 100k+ mileage 2015 XE 2.0D 160bhp Manual... I think I've read 20pages of daunting forums but this video makes me happy
Been running my 2017 2.0d for over 5 years now. It goes into the dealer once a year for servicing (about 11,000 km -7500 mile intervals). The only problem was last year when it needed new brake rotors and calipers (maybe because I do some driving on gravel roads). Still love this car.
Gained a new sub, this was such a quick and straight forward video. Thank you so much mate. I was wondering if you have a video on replacing spark plugs and coils on this car?
Thanks so much for the info on changing the inside air filter, my old Jag S type was a little smelly as the jag dealer never changed the air filter after 14 years, must have been too difficult
Just had my xe serviced by the local jag dealer, when questioned about the renewal of the air filter located behind the glove box he confirmed that access by the removal of the glove box was too complicated and that they accessed the filter by removing the plastic casing below the wiper blades to gain access. At the end of the day I presume that is what they did, interesting.
Fab! What i discovered is that all the part numbers on your Service Kit list [oil, air, cabin filters, sump plug] are the same for 2.0L petrol version RWD (except for fuel filter, which is diesel specific).
Can use this oil also, Mobil Super 3000 Formula F Engine Oil - 0W-30 , same spec. Can buy in 5ltr container at £50.00 each from Eurocar parts. So 10 ltrs for £100, as opposed to 6 Ltrs. Check it out. Great vid by the way 👍👍
My good sir. The fuel filter has a priming sequence so no need to transfer the fuel. Once new filter is in place you turn on the ignition only for fifteen seconds and turn off for ten seconds. Repeat four times and then start engine as normal. The fuel pump will push the fuel in to the filter for you.
Amazing video! Have you happened to ever try an electric oil extractor? If yes, does it need to be extracted via dipstick or some other way because I don't think you can put the extract pipe straight away in the oil change hole (where you put the new oil)? Thanks!
Hi Jason Thanks for uploading a very useful video, i have the XF 2.0 diesel so all the parts and procedures are pretty much identical, i just had one issue with the fuel filter- after disconnecting and taking off all the bits and pieces from the old filter,i can’t get it out, it seems to be attached to the lower back rear of the filter? do you know what it could be or do i just need a bit more muscle to manoeuvre it out?.. oh and love the little dig you had at Jaguar service team about ‘fully servicing’ the air filter!
Thanks for the kind words! Only thing I can think of is maybe the sensor under Meath the filter getting caught? Or as you say may need a bit more muscle just make sure everything is clear so nothing breaks 😬 Ahaha yea those pollen filters never get changed! 😜 Let me know how you get on Jason
Amazing video . A all in one video. Stunning. I have just a question. Its related to timing chain :( . I`am about to buy a jag xe soon . I cannot find any info on about timing chain/belt . At what mileage you recomand to change it ? And also , do you know rougly how much will be the cost of replacement ? Thank you
Firstly thanks for the kind words! So timing chains their is a lot of different in my opinion out their. A timing chain should be a “lifetime” part so in theory shouldn’t need to be changed. However, it appears to be a bit of a lottery now this isn’t just a jag thing this seems to be the case with any car with a chain. My XE is now nearly at 100k with no issues but others have suffers with chain issues at low mileage. Asking as maintenance is kept well and perhaps lower the service intervals like I will be it “should” be fine I may look at getting mine done this or next year for peace of mind but I might not bother either. Iv seen people quoted £900-1800 for a chain replacement so depending where you are and what sort of garage will do the work it’s a bit of a difference in the price range. Hope this helps Jason 😃
Great video! Is there any chance you could do one of these videos for an EGR Cooler Filter replacement. These block frequently (I believe) causing P049B OBD error codes which are not critical errors but are annoying nonetheless. The part cost is about £20 but the job will cost over £300 at a garage to repair. I’m sure you would receive lots on likes, followed etc. Again, thanks for a great video, very useful!
Hey! First of all thanks for the kind words! 😄 Secondly, very Interesting! Iv not come address this so I will do some research and get back to you! Thanks Jason
Great video thanks. I have a manual gearbox, and note the the oil for this and the diff is for the life of the car. I'm thinking of replacing it (79000 miles). Is this a good idea?
Thanks for the kind words! the rear diff is a little like the cabin filter and is often forgotten about so yes change the fluid definitely would be a good preventative measure and it’s something Iv been considering doing once I have the time. Hope this helps Jason
+1 sub, will definitely be using this in the near future thanks, do you have a bumper removal video I need to change my air condenser and I refuse to pay the ridiculous price Jaguar are quoting me haha
Sadly not done a video on a coolant flush and no longer have the car, it should be a fairly straight forward job there will be a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator which you can drain from there and then fill and let it bleed. just out of curiosity what’s the reason you would like to do a coolant flush?
@TrackAndBeyond ah that's a pity. Great video. If the car is regularly serviced with the proper oil do you think its worth getting the timing chain done? Cost about £2k
Personally I’d get the chain done if it starts causing noise. If it’s not noises don’t worry about it. Carrying out services earlier than the scheduled 25k should help though!
Great advice thanks doing mine tomorrow. Is there a way I can get the car to stop telling me service due on the dash myself or is it only a jag dealer that can remove that??
Hey, good luck with the service 😄 there is a service light reset procedure which is as follows: • Bonnet open and drivers door open • ignition on engine off • foot on brake and throttle for 10-15 seconds That should reset. Hope that helps Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond great thanks Service done (oil, filter, air and cabin filter) didn’t do the fuel filter as I have only done 14000 miles in the car. So gonna wait till 20k for that and the coolant. I would never have got the cabin filter done without your help. Don’t suppose you have a video of a coolant drop do you?
@@KJsSchoolOFMotoring Awesome! Glad it helped you to get it done! don't blame you on the fuel filter change to be fair. sadly not no its not something i have done on the Jag yet Jason
Just done a oil change thanks to this video on my 2018 XE 20D, took just over 6.5 litres tho just a heads up to anyone else you may need more than 6 litres 2016 and later from what I have read.
Looked around for a video about lifting this cars but cannot find anything detailed. I know sound silly but I will be interested to see a detailed video about jacking the car and support on axle or wood blocks. I managed to a previous car to bend jacking point. Just bought my xe R-sport in january and didn't lifted the car yet but time will come for service, brakes etc. I use to jack the cars previously with a troley jack and support on some wood blocks. What are best points front and rear to jack and support? Can you do please a video about this? Thank you in advance. PS: I like your tutorials and learn quite a few things about my new car.
Thank you so much for the kind message really means a lot! I’m thinking about doing a mini series of videos like what’s you’ve suggested as iv had quite a few messages asking to do certain videos. On the jag under the will you can see the normal straight line where the sill is, their are 2 bits on the sill where their is a hole and it slightly different to the rest of the sill theses are the jacking points. Now I’ll be honest the axle stands are the nightmare; on the front I used twist look like the rear of the wishbones but this is quite tricky to get the axle stand to sit under. I’ll try get a video soon but hope this helps! Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Thank you for advice. I'm asking because I damage that line at lifting points (basically bend in or out) al around (front and rear on both sides) the previous car (ford mondeo mk4) and I'm worried not to do the same with this one. Now, I lifted many cars over the times, different brands, and everything was ok but my experience with last one make me think twice and ask a lot of silly questions :)
Iv used that jacking point a couple of times and havnt had any bending yet. I think their is another jacking point further in ward too but I can’t remember without looking right now 😀 Jason
Have you had the turbo on your XE go out yet? I feel like it eventually goes out for everyone. I had mine go out at about 46k miles. The whole thing is problematic. I had the Catalytic converter destroyed as well because it was a seal in the turbo that went out. I know this is a problem with the ingenium 20d's, since a lot of the XF guys talk about it, too. Edit: thanks for the help btw. I use your video to service my whip.
Hey bud. Yep the last video on the Jag was the turbo replacement! Luckily I caught it early with out it breaking up so it was a straightforward replacement. Glad I can help Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Thanks for your prompt response! 😁 I think for peace of mind I may change the oil in that case 🤔....but can't seem to find anywhere showing how to do this?
@mikehaycock1453 yea sadly i was going to do this before I sold the cat but didn’t get a chance. If you look up the ZF gearbox fluid change their are videos on other cars but its the same gearbox
@TrackAndBeyond right, so what about helping me service the car like the video? I have one more year of payment, and I'd love to be the owner of the car. Just let me know a price I will drive down from the video you are very trustworthy
Nice video. myself I change oil and oil filter every 6 months or 5000 - 6000 mls, air filter and cabin filter every year, fuel filter every two yrs. Wonder what you think about this oil: Comma Eco-FE Plus 0W-30, Verified by Jaguar Land Rover to meet STJLR.03.5007, or this one : Mobil 1 ESP LV 0W-30 developed to meet the latest JLR STJLR.03.5007 specification for the JLR 2.0 L Ingenium 4 cylinder diesel engines.
Hey thanks! As long as they meet that specification I can’t see it being any issues the Castro’s stuff I used was the only option I could find so I stuck with it. Thanks Jason
Would changing the filter improve the flow of air? I have a strange issue where the fans won’t blow hard even when turned up fully. Unless I press the max a/c button? Is this more of a fault than a filter issue? It just sounds like it’s struggling to push any air
Hello their, all the main orange jobs Iv done such as servicing and brakes are really straight forward, even things like the turbo charger are nice and accessible. The only job I know that’s engine out on these is the timing chain as it’s on the gearbox side so doing a timing chain or having one replaced is quite an expensive and time consuming job. Hope that helps Jason
Hey Track & Beyond, thanks for the good video! I've done everything except the fuel filter change on my 2017 XF. According to Jaguar I don't have to change it now (60000 miles), but I have to drain the water from it. Would you change it regardless what they say, maybe as a preventative measure? And in case of just draining it, would I have to take out the whole fuel filter to drain it or is there any other easier way? Thanks
Personally yea I would just change it out won’t hurt and for the price of a filter you may aswell just do it. Yea you would have to live slot to drain water from it so may aswell just replace it any way 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for watching 😀 Jason
My XE (2015 2.0 diesel) came with the Jag service plan (first 3 services). They took it every 2 years for its services as scheduled. Chain stretched at 4 1/2 years old. I was gutted. 😢. Less than 65k miles
It certainly seems chain issues are becoming more and more of an issue, sorry to hear about yours 😣 I think I’ll be having Mine done this year as a preventative measure!
I always use high quality engine oils. My 2015 R-Sport 2.0D came from the dealer with Shell Helix Ultra Professional AJ-L Engine Oil - 0W-30 in the boot. Surely, it should be a suitable alternative to Castrol? Likewise Mobil 1 ESP?
Brand doesn’t particularly matter but what’s really important is if it had the Jaguar Landrover Engine oil specification Which is JLR.03.5007 0W-30 for our cars. Anything other than this has been known to cause issues with premature turbo failure and will void warranty’s. Hope this helps Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Thanks Jason. I checked the last dealer service and the shell oil i mentioned which meets the specification. Great videos, by the way. Helped a lot when replacing rear brakes.
Man, Wish this video was about 2 years ago when I bought! Out of interest what is your take on the devices that pump the oil out (through the dipstick) ?
@@TrackAndBeyond No thats fair enough. I had bought one, took out 6+Lts so I estimate there was maybe only 100ml left of the previous oil left in, but was interested in hearing another opinion. Figured the 5 mins it takes to change it that way VS jacking car up, removing the under plate and sump and letting it drain out might have me changing it a lot more often.
@@grahamdavidson918 thanks man really appreciate it! Yea I suppose it would be a lot simpler and if you managed to drain 6l as you say probably most of it any way so fair play! Jason 😃
Do you need to make sure you precharge the oil filter and do not put a dry oil filter in and oil the o-ring. Just soak the oil filter in a clean container for a half a minute at least best to fill up the oil before you put the filter in through the oil filter chamber, you put a dry filter in your getting no capillary action there's a delay because it's dry can be up to 10 seconds of engine running how much was your scissor lift? You didn't put the shroud back
Good video👌🏾👌🏾.. I have a Jaguar XE R Sport (65).. my start/ stop works intermittently. I have taken it to Jaguar dealership and all they do is reset and then it works for couple of days. Bunch of clueless numpties 😏 Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks for the kind words! The start/stop is something we all either love or hate 🤣 and the jag system doesn’t really like to play ball. Any start stop feature is hard to get right as their are so many things that need to be right for it to work properly like air temp etc. however normally the route cause is battery voltage being too low. I’m surprised Jaguar didn’t replace the battery then reset it to be honest as that could well cure the issue. My start/stop has never worked and to be honest I like it that way 🤣 Hope that helps Jason
Sorry but I have another question.. does anyone Jaguar XE have loud vibration? I think it’s coming from the engine. How can I check if my engine mounts needs to be replaced or damaged?
Sadly if you’ve had the new battery it is just down to Jaguar to sort out then really. Loud vibration could either be engine mounts if exhaust mounts however I would also get the engine checked over as the noise could be coming from the cam chain and if it is that’s a pricey fix
I payed 10k for mine last year on 80k it’s a good deal especially with how inflated the used car market is right now. Only thing I’d make sure is service history and timing chain isn’t noisy etc. Hope that helps Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Hey another question! This might be a little crazy, but i’m just considering everything since i’m thinking to purchase this car. How many times would you say you fill AdBlue to every full tank fill up. Example 1 Adblue fillup every 3 fillups.
An average consumption rate can be 500 miles per 1 Litre, but this consumption rate can vary a lot and depending on the tank size you have. The early tank like mine is 16l I believe and can last over 4,000 miles but the later tanks have 9l and will last around 3,000 miles I believe.
@@antony2397 early jags didn’t have a warning it came up saying incorrect DEF fluid I believe so if you get that error don’t automatically assume there’s an issue 🤣
I filled it with diesel however you can prime it by putting the ignition on and letting the fuel pump prime the filter. Do it a couple of times and should be good to go 😁
My da has an Xf which is very similar. Always struggled to get some decent how to videos. Definitely an untapped market in regards to how many bmw vw videos there are.
I agree I think a lot of it stems from the fact Jaguar is seen as some what of a expensive brand so people don’t want to work on them themselves. If they’re anything that people want to know or show how being done I welcome suggestions as I’m always willing to do it and film it
Sorry for the late reply! I tend to replace my engine oil every year or 10,000 miles. But Jaguar service schedule states 25,000 miles each service Hope that helps Jason
i got a lot noise comes from my timing chain after oil changed. i turned the engine off n didnt start again, so this is supposed to stop if i leave the engine running?
That’s not good. Have you actually put oil in it? The first 10 seconds you may have noise but after the oil has gotten everywhere there should be no noise
@@TrackAndBeyond yes I did, but 5w 30. I saw somewhere I can use 5w 30 or 0w 30. But the engine running less than 10 seconds. I think I will let it running a little be more tomorrow. Thanks
hi! i have a jaguar xe 2016 r! when i start it gives me park brake fault! what can it be? the cables? I mention that the car battery is below the level, the start stop doesn't work anymore!
Hello there! I wouldn’t rule out an old battery causing the issue but Iv not had my stop start working for over a year and the cars fine, you could try the park brake recalibration which i believe is the following: 1. Start the engine. 2. Firmly apply and release the footbrake five (5) times. 3. Confirm that the message 'NOT CALIBRATED' or 'APPLY FOOT AND PARK BRAKE' is displayed on the Instrument Cluster message center. This indicates that the parking brake is in calibration mode. 4. Lightly press the footbrake pedal. 5. Apply the parking brake by using the EPB switch. 6. Release the parking brake. 7. Release the footbrake. 8. Confirm that the brake warning lamp is no longer illuminated on the Instrument Cluster and that the 'NOT CALIBRATED' message is no longer displayed in the message center. 9. Apply and release the EPB five (5) times to ensure no error is present I haven’t done this my self but this is the procedure I have noted down in the event of a parking brake fault. You may need to repeat the footbrake/EPB switch 3 or 4 times to get it to work. Hope this helps Jason

Been running my 2017 2.0d for over 5 years now. It goes into the dealer once a year for servicing (about 11,000 km -7500 mile intervals). The only problem was last year when it needed new brake rotors and calipers (maybe because I do some driving on gravel roads). Still love this car.
Glad to see some one else enjoying there Cat! I still love the car probably the nicest driving car iv owned
How much is a service at jaguar ?
As mentioned in the video if varies as the dealers are franchise’s, have seen people charged up to £700-£800 for a service which is bonkers
Gained a new sub, this was such a quick and straight forward video. Thank you so much mate. I was wondering if you have a video on replacing spark plugs and coils on this car?
Thanks bud! Sadly not my jag was a diesel so no spark plugs or coils 😑
Thanks so much for the info on changing the inside air filter, my old Jag S type was a little smelly as the jag dealer never changed the air filter after 14 years, must have been too difficult
They always get missed 🤦🏼♂️
Brilliant, make it look easy mate! Ball ache that cabin and fuel filter
Thanks pal! 😀
AWESOME videos man. Love it that your doing everything by yourself 🎉❤
Cheers man 😀
Just had my xe serviced by the local jag dealer, when questioned about the renewal of the air filter located behind the glove box he confirmed that access by the removal of the glove box was too complicated and that they accessed the filter by removing the plastic casing below the wiper blades to gain access. At the end of the day I presume that is what they did, interesting.
I was unaware you can get it from above to be honest seems a bit too deep in the dash to me, could be wrong though
@mentonish yes there is video on utube on fpace xe about it looks alot easier
Fab! What i discovered is that all the part numbers on your Service Kit list [oil, air, cabin filters, sump plug] are the same for 2.0L petrol version RWD (except for fuel filter, which is diesel specific).
That’s pretty clever by jag to use the same parts across engines fair play to them!
@@TrackAndBeyond I see that you're using low profile hydraulic jack. Is low profile really needed for your XE, or it's just the one you have?
No need for low profile one that’s just the one I have as need it for the race car 🤣
To prove that you did the service just keep all the receipts witch will be dated, always good to keep everything, to show it's been looked after, 😁👍
Which I do for that very reason 😀
Nice one Jason big help to many people in the future 👌
Thanks man 😄
Amazing video, easy to see and understand! Thanks dude!
Thanks for the kind words! I’m
Glad it helps 😃
Thank you very much it helped a LOT! Today I have changed te oil in my Jag XE. Very helpfull video! 👌🏽
Thank you! 😀
Glad it helped!
Jason
Found it a great help , thanks a lot
Awesome 😅
Excellent advice to prime the fuel filter. It took 3 tries to get mine started after putting it in dry….I hope I didn’t screw it up😬🤞
Thanks pal 😀 Should be fine to be honest I should have primed it a bit more using the fuel pump I tend forget this step myself sometimes 🤣
Can use this oil also, Mobil Super 3000 Formula F Engine Oil - 0W-30 , same spec. Can buy in 5ltr container at £50.00 each from Eurocar parts. So 10 ltrs for £100, as opposed to 6 Ltrs.
Check it out.
Great vid by the way 👍👍
You are a real star my friend.
Thanks pal 😀
Thank you, God bless you😊
My good sir. The fuel filter has a priming sequence so no need to transfer the fuel. Once new filter is in place you turn on the ignition only for fifteen seconds and turn off for ten seconds. Repeat four times and then start engine as normal. The fuel pump will push the fuel in to the filter for you.
Yea realised after I started the car 🤣🤦🏼♂️
Still manually prime the filter as my x250 refused to start with the auto priming. I poured diesel and and then she came to life.
Good to know it wasn’t a wasted effort on my part then 🤣👍🏻
Super useful video, thanks:)
Your welcome 😄
Would honestly recommend taking the fuel filter off first too let oil in the housing drop.
Amazing video! Have you happened to ever try an electric oil extractor? If yes, does it need to be extracted via dipstick or some other way because I don't think you can put the extract pipe straight away in the oil change hole (where you put the new oil)? Thanks!
Personally iv never been a fan of the extractors iv always dropped mine down from the sump, if you use an extractor you go from the dipstick tube
Used engine oil pump extractor method for many years on my Mercedes cars. So much easier to carry out an oil change.
Hi Jason
Thanks for uploading a very useful video, i have the XF 2.0 diesel so all the parts and procedures are pretty much identical, i just had one issue with the fuel filter- after disconnecting and taking off all the bits and pieces from the old filter,i can’t get it out, it seems to be attached to the lower back rear of the filter? do you know what it could be or do i just need a bit more muscle to manoeuvre it out?.. oh and love the little dig you had at Jaguar service team about ‘fully servicing’ the air filter!
Thanks for the kind words!
Only thing I can think of is maybe the sensor under Meath the filter getting caught? Or as you say may need a bit more muscle just make sure everything is clear so nothing breaks 😬
Ahaha yea those pollen filters never get changed! 😜
Let me know how you get on
Jason
Love the video, can you please do one on how to change spark plugs. The type of plug you need and what size spark plug socket?
I’d love to if I could get hold of a petrol XE for the day or do one, sadly I don’t know any one with a petrol!
He, good morning can you make a video how to change the cooling or jaguar xe 2016 thanks
Morning, it’s definitely somthing I’ll be looking at doing in the future
Jason
Great video
Thanks 😀
Nice one good video Thank you
Thanks pal 😄 more than welcome hope it comes in useful
I agree with the 10,000 mile oil change, 20,000 to long for this engine.
Hope this helps
Jason 😃
Great video! Is there any chance you could do one of these videos for an EGR Cooler Filter replacement. These block frequently (I believe) causing P049B OBD error codes which are not critical errors but are annoying nonetheless. The part cost is about £20 but the job will cost over £300 at a garage to repair. I’m sure you would receive lots on likes, followed etc. Again, thanks for a great video, very useful!
Hey! First of all thanks for the kind words! 😄
Secondly, very Interesting! Iv not come address this so I will do some research and get back to you!
Thanks
Jason
Great video thanks.
I have a manual gearbox, and note the the oil for this and the diff is for the life of the car. I'm thinking of replacing it (79000 miles). Is this a good idea?
Thanks for the kind words! the rear diff is a little like the cabin filter and is often forgotten about so yes change the fluid definitely would be a good preventative measure and it’s something Iv been considering doing once I have the time.
Hope this helps
Jason
Hi Track & Beyond, Which Break Fluid do you recommend for the use in this type of Jag XE?
Any Dot4 fluid should be fine I wouldn’t be too worried on brands for brake fluid personally
+1 sub, will definitely be using this in the near future thanks, do you have a bumper removal video I need to change my air condenser and I refuse to pay the ridiculous price Jaguar are quoting me haha
Thanks pal! Really appreciate it! Sadly not taken bumper off yet I’ll have a look this weekend if I get time 👌🏻
@@TrackAndBeyond cheers
Great video. Any video for a coolant flush on this car? Or any manuals you know of? Cant find a haynes manual anywhere
Sadly not done a video on a coolant flush and no longer have the car, it should be a fairly straight forward job there will be a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator which you can drain from there and then fill and let it bleed. just out of curiosity what’s the reason you would like to do a coolant flush?
Any transmission oil videos please?
I was planning on doing this but sadly I sold the car back in February time 😓
@TrackAndBeyond ah that's a pity.
Hey, good luck with the service 😄 there is a service light reset procedure which is as follows:
• Bonnet open and drivers door open
• ignition on engine off
• foot on brake and throttle for 10-15 seconds
That should reset. Hope that helps
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond great thanks
Service done (oil, filter, air and cabin filter) didn’t do the fuel filter as I have only done 14000 miles in the car. So gonna wait till 20k for that and the coolant.
I would never have got the cabin filter done without your help.
Don’t suppose you have a video of a coolant drop do you?
@@KJsSchoolOFMotoring Awesome! Glad it helped you to get it done!
don't blame you on the fuel filter change to be fair.
sadly not no its not something i have done on the Jag yet
Jason
Just done a oil change thanks to this video on my 2018 XE 20D, took just over 6.5 litres tho just a heads up to anyone else you may need more than 6 litres 2016 and later from what I have read.
Interesting mine is an 2016 opie oils told me it only required 6l and that’s what I used thanks for the info 👍🏻
@@TrackAndBeyond yeh I also used opie oils from your recommendation, came up with 7 litres with my reg just jag been awkward I think 😂
🤣 fair play! Good spot though interesting
I think their is another jacking point further in ward too but I can’t remember without looking right now 😀
Jason
22:53 you don’t seem to have pulled back that white sleeve you’ve pushed back whist removing the old filter
a great tutorial! Thank
Thanks ☺️
Be great if you would work on a xe petrol 250
If I had one to hand I would 🤣
Good video can you make a serpentine belt video?
Thanks pal! It will be on the list of things to do yea 😊
Good video ;)
What's the size of the sump plug and the washer please?
Thanks pal! Not 100% sure on the size immune came with the service pack I bought
Glad I can help
Jason
When would you recommend changing the gearbox oil? Many thanks.
So according to Jaguar it’s a “lifetime” fluid however the company that manufacture the gearboxes ZF say 75k miles
Brilliant, thanks once again! Really appreciate ya help and advice 😁.
Can i ask what alloy theese are
These where AXE wheels don’t seems to be made any more
@TrackAndBeyond right, so what about helping me service the car like the video?
Thanks
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Thank you. Great video.
Would changing the filter improve the flow of air? I have a strange issue where the fans won’t blow hard even when turned up fully. Unless I press the max a/c button? Is this more of a fault than a filter issue? It just sounds like it’s struggling to push any air
Could well be a blocked cabin filter. For how much they cost I’d probably change it and see if it improves
Jason
How is the XE to maintain? I've heard some cars can be an engine out job for a simple engine repair?
Hello their, all the main orange jobs Iv done such as servicing and brakes are really straight forward, even things like the turbo charger are nice and accessible. The only job I know that’s engine out on these is the timing chain as it’s on the gearbox side so doing a timing chain or having one replaced is quite an expensive and time consuming job.
Hope that helps
Jason
Hey Track & Beyond, thanks for the good video! I've done everything except the fuel filter change on my 2017 XF. According to Jaguar I don't have to change it now (60000 miles), but I have to drain the water from it.
Would you change it regardless what they say, maybe as a preventative measure? And in case of just draining it, would I have to take out the whole fuel filter to drain it or is there any other easier way? Thanks
Personally yea I would just change it out won’t hurt and for the price of a filter you may aswell just do it. Yea you would have to live slot to drain water from it so may aswell just replace it any way 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for watching 😀
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Alright, thanks
What did you hold the bucket with whilst oil was draining as its on a slope?
Nothing, Just left it on the ground
My XE (2015 2.0 diesel) came with the Jag service plan (first 3 services). They took it every 2 years for its services as scheduled. Chain stretched at 4 1/2 years old. I was gutted. 😢. Less than 65k miles
It certainly seems chain issues are becoming more and more of an issue, sorry to hear about yours 😣 I think I’ll be having Mine done this year as a preventative measure!
The dealer probably only changed the oil once 🤔 in 3 years!
Hope this helps
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond Thanks Jason. I checked the last dealer service and the shell oil i mentioned which meets the specification.
Great videos, by the way. Helped a lot when replacing rear brakes.
That’s spot on then bud, thanks pal glad it helped 😃
It says oil is 0w20 in manual and oil cap will it matter mine is petrol
If your is petrol than yes it probbsly is 0w20 👍🏻
Hi there, have you done a video on the side skirt refit on the xe180sport, my drivers side has come loose, thanks.
Good evening, I haven’t sadly no I haven’t had that issue on mine I’m afraid
@@TrackAndBeyond thanks for letting me know.
Man, Wish this video was about 2 years ago when I bought!
Out of interest what is your take on the devices that pump the oil out (through the dipstick) ?
Aha sorry pal! 😀 personally don’t recommend them as I find the song always get 100% of the oil out
@@TrackAndBeyond No thats fair enough.
Great videos BTW and very informative! +1 subscriber!
Just soak the oil filter in a clean container for a half a minute at least best to fill up the oil before you put the filter in through the oil filter chamber, you put a dry filter in your getting no capillary action there's a delay because it's dry can be up to 10 seconds of engine running
how much was your scissor lift? You didn't put the shroud back
No need to charge oil filter, scissor list was around £1200 online probbsly the best bit of kit iv bought for a while
Good video👌🏾👌🏾.. I have a Jaguar XE R Sport (65).. my start/ stop works intermittently. I have taken it to Jaguar dealership and all they do is reset and then it works for couple of days. Bunch of clueless numpties 😏
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks for the kind words! The start/stop is something we all either love or hate 🤣 and the jag system doesn’t really like to play ball. Any start stop feature is hard to get right as their are so many things that need to be right for it to work properly like air temp etc. however normally the route cause is battery voltage being too low. I’m surprised Jaguar didn’t replace the battery then reset it to be honest as that could well cure the issue. My start/stop has never worked and to be honest I like it that way 🤣
Hope that helps
Jason
Track & Beyond thank you so much for quick respond. I have a new battery that was installed last year.
Good video- what do you think of a xf 2.0d with 100k miles? £10k dealer price
I payed 10k for mine last year on 80k it’s a good deal especially with how inflated the used car market is right now. Only thing I’d make sure is service history and timing chain isn’t noisy etc.
Hope that helps
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond thanks !
Hey brother do you have a video on how to change the headlights. Or a headlight upgrade ?
Hey there, I don’t yet no. I want to do a few videos on bits like this so hopefully some time soon I will have 😄
@@TrackAndBeyond Hey another question! This might be a little crazy, but i’m just considering everything since i’m thinking to purchase this car. How many times would you say you fill AdBlue to every full tank fill up. Example 1 Adblue fillup every 3 fillups.
@@TrackAndBeyond Secondly, does a warning come up when the Adblue level is low?
An average consumption rate can be 500 miles per 1 Litre, but this consumption rate can vary a lot and depending on the tank size you have. The early tank like mine is 16l I believe and can last over 4,000 miles but the later tanks have 9l and will last around 3,000 miles I believe.
@@antony2397 early jags didn’t have a warning it came up saying incorrect DEF fluid I believe so if you get that error don’t automatically assume there’s an issue 🤣
Do you fill the new diesel filter with diesel or putting it on empty how do you prime the filter
I filled it with diesel however you can prime it by putting the ignition on and letting the fuel pump prime the filter. Do it a couple of times and should be good to go 😁
@@TrackAndBeyond thanks
My da has an Xf which is very similar. Always struggled to get some decent how to videos. Definitely an untapped market in regards to how many bmw vw videos there are.
I agree I think a lot of it stems from the fact Jaguar is seen as some what of a expensive brand so people don’t want to work on them themselves. If they’re anything that people want to know or show how being done I welcome suggestions as I’m always willing to do it and film it
@@TrackAndBeyond If I can think of anything I’ll leave a reply but I think you’ve got most of the standard maintenance covered.
MY FRIEND...HOW MANY MILES DO I HAVE TO CHANGE MY JAG DIESEL OIL SERVICE
Sorry for the late reply! I tend to replace my engine oil every year or 10,000 miles. But Jaguar service schedule states 25,000 miles each service
Hope that helps
Jason
i got a lot noise comes from my timing chain after oil changed. i turned the engine off n didnt start again, so this is supposed to stop if i leave the engine running?
That’s not good. Have you actually put oil in it? The first 10 seconds you may have noise but after the oil has gotten everywhere there should be no noise
@@TrackAndBeyond yes I did, but 5w 30. I saw somewhere I can use 5w 30 or 0w 30. But the engine running less than 10 seconds. I think I will let it running a little be more tomorrow. Thanks
Always use the manufactures oil recommendations if you don’t use the correct oil there has been reports of turbo and chain failures
Are the reliable on diesel
To be honest the diesel has a fair few problems timing chains being the biggest one
@@TrackAndBeyond thank you

hi! i have a jaguar xe 2016 r! when i start it gives me park brake fault!
what can it be?
the cables?
I mention that the car battery is below the level, the start stop doesn't work anymore!
Hello there! I wouldn’t rule out an old battery causing the issue but Iv not had my stop start working for over a year and the cars fine, you could try the park brake recalibration which i believe is the following:
9. Apply and release the EPB five (5) times to ensure no error is present
I haven’t done this my self but this is the procedure I have noted down in the event of a parking brake fault. You may need to repeat the footbrake/EPB switch 3 or 4 times to get it to work.
Hope this helps
Jason
@@TrackAndBeyond hello I tried but the message with park brake fault does not work appears since I start the engine! I will go to a service to pick up the elevator!
Oil fill capacity is 6.52 litres 🤔
Also there’s a procedure for bleeding the fuel system. Ignition on for 60 seconds. Turn off. Repeat 3 times
Also to move that flap above the pollen filter (that’s the recirculation flap) just turn the ignition on and turn recirc on via the HVAC controls
Very very poor design for servicing😢
