  • Road moving one of our newest combines to the mechanic to be overhauled. It is always a bit scary moving something this big down the road. We are going from our shop in Dayton Washington to Pomeroy Washington. I flag from behind the whole way and get some cool views. This is on the long side, but I recorded a lot of video on the way. Have a good one!

      Thanks john! I saw a channel where a guys wife records him in his truck for like about hour just driving in the snow, so i made this one extra long lol. @coolLifeIsWonderful realistic day in the life of a 54 year old log truck driver

    Thanks Trevor. That remote scenery could have been in the north of England, (except for driving on the wrong side of the road!).

      Yeah, driving over there would break my mind i think. Im a good driver, so that means i stay on the right. Lol. Now that you mention it…Yeah some stuff around here does look like what ive seen of northern England.

    Moving on the highway always scared the hell out of me. Seen my friends farm on top of Courtney. Spent quite a bit of time out in that area helping out and taking pics over the years. Also my Dad used to maintain the rail line to Turner until it was torn out in the late 70's.

      Yeah i did a bit for them last year for Randy. Great people for sure. There used to be so much rail everywhere. I wish the tracks were still there so we could ride them on electric rail bikes. Lol

    Long auger could be giving the combine a bit of lever action. Plus without the header it wouldn’t have the counter balance

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, maybe we need some counterweights for the front when she has no header on. Lol. Either wat, shes a bouncy one!

    I wonder if anyone has done tire slippage testing for sidehill traction.
    For the vee bar, diamond and those 'girly' looking treaded tires-?
    Trevor, have you read or heard of any testing-?

      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад +1

      No i havent, not around here. I just know we like the diamond tread on the combines. All the old combines i can think of we used them on. Better to slide than to roll is what i gather.

    Traffic at least a little better than in other videos!

      Thank you Joel. Yeah it was actually not bad at all compared to other trips

      Highway traffic on 12 east of Dayton is not near as heavy as it is heading west.

    Wonder how much heat effected the rear tire pressure? another very good video

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад +1

      They bounce in the summer but not nearly as bad as the winter it seems. Maybe the cold made them a bit low. You can really see them compressing though when it bounces

    Question? Why does the combine have smooth lugs rather than heavy raised lugs?

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад +2

      We deal with a lot of steep stuff thats soft. Without the diamond tread or less aggressive stuff, we make ruts in the field when cutting.

    No snow up that way?

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад

      We had about 3 inches that has melted in the 55 F weather. It was down to -14 F only a few weeks ago. A lot of wheat has been hit pretty hard by the cold it would seem, but it may bounce back.

    Maybe worth to pump up a few extra lbs tire pressure in road transit as less the head the rear has more weight.

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад

      This makes sense actually. Yeah, theres lime or calcium inside the tires for weight on the rear end. Without the header…for sure it would be heavier.

    How will you get the dead combine fixed pull it out of the field or fix it there ?

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  5 месяцев назад +1

      The 9240 with the blown motor is still on the hill and theyve pulled the motor and are working on it. The head is still good so it wont be nearly as expensive as the 180,000 estimate from harvest.

      Ok just wish you good luck
      Have had to pull 95h s with 9u off the hill to flat ground then try to level with outside hyd. what a pain.

      @@williskinder7794 Thank you! I will pass it along. Im going up there as soon as the fields dry out with the drone though. Otherwise we gottta go in via the neighbors. We have seeded wheat on the hill below the combine.

      My dad and I preferred flat ground but your combines are so big today and I don't know your model hyd system ,to try and get level. So many questions good luck.
