That was me in “Snowball” truck #2 Deicing this A-380. Beside the fuselage! It’s a lot of fun to spray this aircraft, but it takes a lot of time because it’s so big!

How long does it take to deice an A380 during the day, temperatures just around freezing, whilst it's snowing?

@@visionist7 We can normally have the A380 out in less than an hour with it snowing. We have an amazing crew and awesome machines at Pearson Airport! From the time the aircraft is configured properly for deicing and we are given clearance to start the process, applying type 1 (the orange/pink fluid) and then the anti-icing type 4 (the green “jello” type fluid) , I’ve personally seen it done in 35 to 45 minutes. Lots of factors to take in to consideration, but Pearson has it down to a “well oiled machine” process. It depends on how much snow, if there’s ice under the snow, and so many factors it is hard to determine a precise time that it will take. We, the Pearson Airport deicing team, take a great amount of pride in getting aircraft of all types and sizes ready to safely fly as quickly and safely as possible. Sorry to be so proud, but I believe we are the best in the world at safe, timely, and sensible deicing.

Nice video! I’m told he had to de-ice and get re-sprayed on PAD 5C for over an hour due to the snow storm. Great shot of the departure too.
