I have watched hundreds of aircraft videos, but none like this. The roar of the engines with the snowfall and all the de-icing going on, made this video very special. As the very first aircraft (Lufthansa 747-8) came up, I got goosebumps.
As a retired aircraft dispatcher (USA), winter ops are something I don't miss. Fluid mixtures, holdover times, performance penalties, runway condition and braking action reports, crosswind and landing limits--it's now some other dispatchers turn to deal with it..
Isn’t it code 89, ATC delay? 😂 We always tried to push the delay to ATC for the airlines or bad weather, was one of the first things I learned as a Dispatcher 😜
It's a blessing that Lufthansa keeps alive the 747, what a pleasure is to spot it. 💪. Congrats on the video, very nice! The Air China one looks great too, and see what a massive beast the 380 is, impressive. Great shots
My respect to take such beautiful pictures of interested parties in this weather on the Rhine/Main, and then so close to the 747, my favorite aircraft. Thank you very much. Best wishes to the Netherlands and have a wonderful Christmas! 🕯️🌲✈️👍. 🐅

Amazing video...I have so many questions hope someone can answer, are there passengers on board during the de-icing, why was the king & queen the only aircraft fully de-iced as the top of the fuselage on the dreamliners looked untouched, how long does the de-icing last, are the vehicles manned by drivers in the cabs, are the pilots and de- icing crew talking during the process or is it a standard procedure, what's the different type of fluid....really fascinating to see, loved all the Queens...and interesting that the ice showed the ribs in the fuselage
That are a lot os Question haha! 1. Yes the passengers are onboard while De-icing 2. Tbh i have no idea, I think someone can explain that to us. 3. The de-icing process takes 30~45 min depending what Aircraft type it is, and basically they only need it for takeoff due to the accumulation of ice on the control service. 4. Depends of which airport, but these trucks are indeed operated by the driver in the cabin, but you also got the oldschool trucks with 1 person in the bucket and the other one driving. 5. They got a special frequency for de-icing, basically their own ATC which tell’s the pilots to hold and when they are ready. 6. I believe they use different fluids, they green one is more expensive and only used for control service areas ( wings, tail, vertical stabilizer ) the yellow one is less expensive and is used on the fuselage to basically just remove the layer of ice. I hope this helps 😜
Planes generally de-ice at the gate or at the pad, depending on the aircraft. (Look at an airport like ORD which has a big deicing pad that is generally used for smaller planes, while big planes get deiced at the gate.)
I think the top of the aircraft is not deiced (sometimes) because it is not the 'critical' surface for the flight. On the other hand it can be critical if there is a ton (additional weight) of snow/ice on top of the plane. For light snow dusting at the fuselage top, it jut may not be worth wasting the fluid...
@@TheLewistownTrainspotter8102I doubt aircraft get de-iced at the gate. There is a ton of people on the ground around a gate. There are fuelers, baggage handlers, caterers, authority, pilots doing the walk-around etc. Loads of activity around an aircraft at the gate. And de-icing fluid is hot glycol at around 90 degrees, so it is both very toxic and very hot. Way to dangerous to do it at the gate. You would have to clear a giant area around the gate to do the de-icing. And that would occupy the parking space, which is far too valuable. Much better to de-ice at a designated platform
Masha Allah absolutely has another spectacular beautiful footage and the sound of the plane is a killer and a big fat boom masterpiece works and you nailed it again .. keep it up Sir and stay warm .. gorgeous filming edition settings presentation and the blowing snow catch it all, super awesome super amazing and super cool .. Thank you so much🙌🏼 and yes most of it is filmed with the RX-10! But dont get fooled, there is so much light coming of the lightpoles on the de icing platform that it is almost like you are standing there in daylight. But apart from that, no special settings were used😁 but for nighttime we rather use our Nikon gear! Cheers🙌🏼

Because when I zoom in it does not Look so clean you know what I mean? 😅 And one more question ? Handheld or with a tripod ? Thank you so much! Best regards!
I'm new at this but if the have safety rods on the boom arms why are they so high? Would it no be bettet if they were closer, and would it not save on the fluid? The only reason I can see that they stay so high is, the they have a better vantage view but, would it not be jus the same if they got closer.
I think it sticks - up to the certain speed ... I think the liquid sticks and is very much useful at takeoff (critical) and initial climb. Once aircraft is up to speed and in cruise, I think the deicing fluid is gone, and the deicing is done by leading edge heating and also by engine (nacelle?) heating from within...
It is designed for the product to leave, that, just during takeoff. The goal de-icing is to eliminate the contamination hung so the weight. ( whereas there is a problem with airflow on the reliability, stability of the aircraft ) All contamination will have to be cleared for the take off - flight ( fluid de-icing its contamination too )
what?? 38 minutes for de-icing a 747? That's impossible. If it really took that long, the wings would have been covered in snow and icy again! 10 minutes tops!
fair enough. Pretty crazy though, the HOT of type IV is almost zero after this time from what I read. If the plane can't immediately depart, it has to do it all over again :D@@AmsterdamAviationYT
What? That’s the point of deicing and antiicing to get rid of ice and then prevent ice. In that storm the hold over time is probably 45 minutes but that’s from the start of anti ice which only took 10 minutes tops
