The first time I ever saw Robert Randolph and the family band was at the university of Pennsylvania. It was free because no one had heard of them. There were 20 people in the place. They opened the doors. And the kids started streaming in from hearing the music. And by the time they got done, it was hysterical fun. God it was the best. It's good to see that they're still kicking ass and taking numbers.
I saw them 3 hours ago in Torrita di Siena. I won't never forget It. I can't sleep for all the positive emotions they give us. I think One of the best concerts in my Life. I Will print the pictures I took with Robert. Amazing man. Amazing band. God bless you all.
To RR. The old ones are becoming fewer everyday that made the history so unique of electric string music. Your creativity on the pedal steel making it sound the new wave you've blended with the old with so many new types of equiptment changing what we call the blues today is fantastic to hear youre inventive style. So glad I grew up in the electric age and humbled that you carry on the torch. Good music makes me high. I can see it does the same for you and many of the folks you play with. Please stay away from the drugs that make life to a short as we've seen to many good ones become great when they pass never to be seen again except on recordings.you take of your soul and your health you can do what you want with making music new everyday til you reach 100 yrs or older. Drugs waste your time body and talent. Music saves them. God bless you hope you take this to heart the children on up are listening and watching. Love Peace and Happiness are on your path of life. Love that B3 your music makes me feel like I'm back in the 60s as a teen again. Thanks brothers and sister for making RR keep it going
I will never forget that day! :D It's me getting and dancing on the stage as first! :D I talked about it with Robert a day before in hotel - I had to tell him that he did this to me in 2011 at Olsztyńskie Noce Bluesowe, so he promised to do it again.. and here I am :D I love him sooooooo much!
Patrycja Król Really, Awesome, At The Ardmore Music Hall in Phila, Well I was on Stage Playiing His TAMBOURINE , JAMMING WITH THE BAND, Kicking it. Back was KILLING ME, but ONLY GOD could have sat me down, So much fun. Did I mention, his SISTER & COUSIN WERE NOT THERE . I WISH THEY WERE. O, And Did I Mention , I went By Myself. I'M A FAN . HAPPY HAPPY YEAR TO YOU.
the,'' EAGLES ''- Thank you for all the incredible, inspiring, memorably, gifted ,talented music. From the land of ENCHANTMENT; CALIFORNIA's Finest since I first heard them in the early 70's while I were in the Armed Forces. Sincerely Guys,'' Curt Schultz ''[fellow musician ]
There are great players and then there are great players that are innovators and cut a brand new path that nobody has really been down before. Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, SRV, Chet Atkins and Tommy Emanuel come to mind... and Robert Randolph playing the pedal steel. He is one of those innovating musicians I think.
@@TedSilar Watched him talk about his tone and how he gets it. It originated from damaged pickups and him wanting to get a more "Strat" kind of sound out of the instrument. Nobody was doing that like him.
The Steel Guitar is the best guitar for every genre of music... It is the most beautiful sounding instrument... It is an instrument of Angels in Heaven!!!
Wow!!! I've heard and seen several steel guitar players, NEVER have I heard a steel guitar sound so damn good! You cannot tell at all when looking away sounds just like someone tearing up a regular strap guitar
These guys replaced Gregg Allman on a ticket with ZZ Top when Gregg got sick. The promoter offered a refund, but I took a chance on them and came away amazed. I'm a Randolph fan now. So good.
When Robert went "under" the petal steel and played i swear I lost my damn mind! His cousin the drummer is a " beast" this band might be the new "Parliament"
I've been rather disconnected from the music scene since my son changed careers (he was IATSE local 8, a sounds engineer and/or stage manager, now he flies airplanes & is always traveling - I miss him like crazy). My son turned me on to Robert & the Family. I really loved his early performances from way back - when they were the opening act for "bigger" artists ( No disrespect intended but I had no desire to see the Black Crows, I went to the show to see Robert! I was rather disappointed with how the record company tried to "package" Robert and the band (but also confess to never bothering to see what record company signed them). I've absolutely enjoyed his life performances over the years. Funny - that his shows feel ra lot like the Grateful Dead shows always did: less performance or "show", a lot more like a get together or even a tribal stomp! I think it's because of the way the band chooses to make their audience part of the show, the way they interact, and because they don't always play a song exactly the same way over and over again so it's always evolving. I read somewhere, maybe McNally's book, that Jerry Garcia said he always made a conscious effort to be a part of something that was moving and dynamic, something "alive" but note: I may an old Deadhead I'm not too old to appreciate the charisma of that young man as well as his bandmates!! Kudos Robert, Danyel, Marcus, et.al.! ❤️
someone said it below.......HOT DAMM!!! if youre feet arent tapping ..and you aint bouncing in your chair......someone call 911!! cuz you just might be dead!!!!! Woot!
Reuben Cherise Not my cups tea ,maybe some of the crowd just is not digging it.If you have seen a lot of good bands ,this may not seem as good as it is to his fans. That Bonamassa guy bores me too , ,maybe this kind of sound is just not for me.Ive heard some incredible people in bars that do more for me than this.Just a matter of taste i recon, everyone likes some kinda music!
+Reuben Cherise to each their own, i personally was there and to be honest when robert started playing i had to sit down and listen with my jaw dropped :)
On Chicago, I gladly got painful sunburn to hear Robert play!

I've never agreed as much as this time!

Actually, he's part of a long line of black gospel steel guitar players. They've been playing in church since it was invented.

Does the bass player not like FAT bass? -- this is way too 'thin'.
Huh?
It's how it was mixed. Recordings don't sound like being there.
This video is way to focused on the chick that adds vocals.... Whole video should have been on the actual musicians..
THIS IS NOT SONG! THERE ARE NO GOOD SONGS HERE!
GIVE ME GOOD SONGS AND GOOD BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many choked notes, and inaccurate bends from both guitarists. Bad tone on the strat. They seem just a cut below this festival.
wow what a boring looking crowd

i was there too, it was one of the best rawa blues festivals since 2009; except the performace at nospr with the orchestra.
I know, Sad RITE ? You have to pay me to sit down. You just got robbed. I took your $$ and didn't sit. LOL
Sky is crying song was deff not the best.. the singer missed the soul of it.. melody was all wack
Love this band.
