Rob Kaman is a true legend of martial arts, but unfortunately, the general public is only vaguely familiar with him. We hope our video will help change that. We've compiled all available footage from the archives of the 80s and 90s. Enjoy!

I remember this guy .. I was so saddened by his death this year. I loved watching him fight. So much so that I got so mad when he fought Rufus in his style but Rufus refused him at Muay Thai. Rufus knew those low kicks would make a huge difference. Without those Rob couldn't use his awesome weapon. Growing up watching him was awesome. He was one BAD DUDE for sure. My grandpa loved him cause he fought ALL that they put in front of him and in their styles. Even if it meant he was at a disadvantage. You don't see that nowadays. Fighters don't take those risks. This was an awesome short film and WOW did it bring back a flood of emotions and memories with my grandpa and my father when we watched Rob. Those were some great times. @Glenn-m1t .. Roufus remembered the beating he took in 1988 from Changpuek Kiatsongrit... and even in that fight, the Thai fighter was banned from using his elbows and knee strikes. I think Roufus thought he could KO him by taking away his powerful weapons but Kiatsongrit took his best and by the 4th round Roufus was running away from those leg kicks until he could no longer stand on them and fell to the canvas losing by TKO.

I dislike when people bring MMA into everything else, as if Bruce Lee would not have adapted, etc. But going in the other direction, even the best leg kickers in the MMA, and I really don't know who that would be, mainly because you don't see people dropping people with leg kicks. So, that's my point. You just don't see that. The fact that he was doing that against even Muai Thai people says a lot. If someone in the MMA had results like he did with leg kicks, they'd be a formidable opponent.

Gotta love him for his fighting etiquette; for not waiting for the ref or the bell to stop punching and like many fighters "like" to do, throwing a barrage of imprecise and basically blind, what I like to call " follow-up double-tap punches". You know, like with a gun, just squeeze out one more for good measure, just to make sure the opponent is out for good or just out of a fighting frenzy. He knew exactly when his opponent had enough and rather threw one punch too few than one too many. I don't remember a single match in which he had to be told or even forcibly removed from his opponent, other than by a light push on the arm by the ref, demonstrating restraint and, what is known to be one of the most important core values of Muay Thai, on every single of his steps along the way: Genuine and, most importantly, mutual respect amongst opponents. No punching down and no intentionally causing unnecessary bodily harm beyond what is to be expected from a regulation match. 😁
That's just professionalism, experience and exemplary sportsmanship. 👏🏻
