- What's Happening Everyone! In this video I build a live edge pendent light for the Whiskey Room. I use the rest of the splatted beech I have and add some Rope flex and antique brass light fittings with some vintage style LED Bulbs.

I’m scratching my head why you don’t have more subscribers. For a sparky you make a great woodworker. Love you videos and presentation style. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Stuart
it is looks absolutely fabulous. Great job.
Glad you liked it!
Love the zero clearance insert idea for the bandsaw. Great tip 👍🏻
A couple of nice wall lamps and it will really add the room. An Arts and Craft wall lamp will look really nice in that room.
Very nice room, absolutely beautiful work and that table is amazing!
Looks really great John, lovely effect, well done :)
Lovely John, really looks well with the table. Fair play 👍👍
That is an awesome project and very inspirational.
Glad you like it!
That's awesome! I'm still very much a beginner woodworker, but I hope in time to advance on to things like this. Keep up the very inspiring content!
nice lob John ,well done
Thanks 👍
Great job! Very creative idea. Be proud of yourself! You made that room awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Lovely job John the way you are doing the whole room is awesome

A unique and very fitting light! I can almost smell the whisky just looking at it! Great job John.
Glad you like it!
Great job! You definitely gave me some good ideas. Cheers 🍺 🥃
Glad I could help!
Beautiful work, John! Looks pretty impressive!!! 😃
I really liked the idea! Maybe I make something like that as well! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Very nice job looking good.
Thanks 👍
Nice work john it looks really nice
Thanks 👍
Excellent vid John, those fittings are very nice. That wood is sweet!
Cheers Chris
Amazing rustic look...you did a fabulous job on the live edge slab. And those bow ties are perfect. Keep making these videos and inspiring DIYers
Thank you! Will do!
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed is the whiskey room complete??
You said it John - Pretty Cool ! Really is gorgeous. I'd say it was a pain lining up with the joist centres but well worth the effort. Great work as always. Stay safe and get the cans in before the widgets run out ....
Ha ha ha I'll have to do a video on home made widgets!! god forbid you wouldn't have a head on your pint!!
Your channel is criminally underrated. Love your energy. Damn good work. I’m a Matt estlea fan like you but I watch your vids first when I login! Cheers from Canada
Thank you.
Hi John.
It looks really awesome. The room is starting to come together very nicely.
And your camera🎥 work is fine. Don't worry about it.
🥃 cheers..
Thanks 👍
beautiful job my wife would love for me to make her one. I am working a live edge tv stand for her right now
Nice! good luck with the TV stand!
Looks beaut mate!
I have a very impressive scar on my right forefinger that can attest to the fact that bandsaws are much tougher than fingers (doh).
Cheers Andrew mind the finger man!
Absolutely beautiful. The whole room looks gorgeous.
Great looking light John, bet it took some messing about to hold it while screwing to the ceiling. Keep up the good work.
It wasn't to bad Bob, I had the holes lined up with the celling joist so it went pretty easy
John I’m just gutted I can’t see it wish I could but it does sound pretty amazing and very rustic. You never know might have to try and make a few as I’ve just started playing in the woods making rustic furniture. But with a quick vision impaired is quite fun and very tactile but like it I reckon right place that they would look smart so might have to make a few stop is there a place in England where are you recommend to get the cables and brass fittings got the local TLC near me electrical shop not too sure if they would do it
I like the rustic furniture to Paul, the light fittings are not that hard to make. If you got a hand with the wiring you would make them no problem.
Hey John looking to finaly make rope light myself, could you tell me where you got the rope light fittings?
Very pretty piece, the room is coming together really nicely. However...
It's hard to tell on screen but it looks as though you've cut the butterflies cross grain.
Dovetail keys should always be cut along the grain. Cutting them cross grain creates a weak spot at the waist where they can split if the crack they're bridging opens any more.
Excellent advice as always Elliot thank you!
Hi John, I always thought that bowties had the grain of the wood running from long end to long end, where as yours look as it the grain runs across the grain and that would not make a very strong connection?
You a right John I messed up there!

99.99% of people will simply not recognise it.
Where did you get flex and light fittings from. I have found some on Ebay in either 3Amp or 6Amp. Any advice on sizing. I'll just be putting single ES lamps on similar to yours. Cheers
all in my amazon store www.amazon.co.uk/shop/johnmcgrath?ref=ac_inf_hm_vp
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Perfect thank you. Didn't even think of looking there!!!!
Where did you get your rope cord and light fixtures from? What is the amp rating on the cord?
got them from Amazon its .75 flex so the official current rating is 6 amps but again that depends on the length of the cable
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed cheers John. I will have a look. Great video series.
John, You have a great ability to come up with design ideas and your work looks to be good quality. But I have no desire to own or build anything live edge. Please, if you can, explain
What is supposed to be nice about it?
Theses things are subjective Jim, if its not for you then its not for you that's ok to.
It's nice to have a whiskey room, but it's OK to have a whiskey without a room.
it is indeed
Watching the video, I kept thinking..."How is he going to make the connection from the ceiling J box to the terminal strip without getting wires tangled up between the wood & the ceiling?" Was disappointed that you didn't show that part. Great job tho 👍
I was able to put the wire into the celling void not much to it really.
Aaah..so just a hole in the ceiling with no junction box...just a cable poking through the hole?
