  • This video shows the Reptile boss fight for the SEGA CD/Mega CD version of the game. It's difficult to fight Reptile, as you need to see objects passing the moon on the pit stage (which happens at random) and then get a double flawless victory and fatality on your opponent. But by using a cheat code to access a hidden menu, you can set it so the objects always appear. I set the stage to the warrior shrine, for some reason if I set it to the pit the objects never appeared.
I also turned the blood off. Not only does this remove the blood, it also censors the fatalities, so instead of Sub-Zero ripped out the opponent's spine, he just does a super uppercut on them instead.
Reptile is hard to take on. He can use Sub-Zero and Scorpion's moves, but the main issue is his speed -he's really fast! Jump kicks are the best way to take him down.

I love how Sega tried to act like the Sega CD version of this game was like the ultimate home port.

CD based games allowed for more information, but when coupled with inferior hardware, there is a bottleneck when that information is streamed from CD to console which nullifies any perceived advantage. That's probably why SEGA CD games were mostly just for enhanced sound, but graphically showed no difference from its cartridge based counterparts.

That explains why Reptile cold be seen briefly for a moment in that intro that took footage from the commercial, though it would make sense as Reptile is a hidden part of he game. Awesome job. :)

I did this cheat on my regular video. I played 20 times before using it on both Sega CD and Mega Drive videos because it is too lame to wait for a window to fight him. At least they got this right on the SNES version.

And perhaps better contrast and colors than the genesis version but contrast and pattern was better on SNES as much it had less memory

What's the point of deactivating blood in a MK game?

To shut the sensitive folks up. Games like this were responsible for the rating system so codes were implemented to probably serve as a way to sell this game with little controversy as possible.

Parents couldn't take responsibility for their kids so they formed a mob and demanded the game be shelved or changed. Same thing Happened to God of War Desencition when you kill the lady the trophy said Bros before Hoes and they patched it by saying Bros before Foes. The Blood Code was the reason Sega kicked Nintendo's ass for MK1 when MK2 came out they left everything alone and put a parental warning on the box.

A lot of people make the mistake of uppercuting close to the end and send the opponent into the pit

This version is so lame… the issue is the lack of colors and of course, the bad programmation…I bet that a Neogeo version would have been arcade perfect. With lower resolution of course😅

Perfectly good port, actually in truth the best port on console, and I'm sure the Neo Geo would have had a pretty good port but it was a console for rich kids or adult fanatics of SNK games.

The SNES version looked very impressive but lacked the gore. I used to play on a hacked SNES version with extra blood 🩸 I still have it somewhere on my floppy disks. 💾 it was a special version that came from Asia and was only playable on a snes disk copier system
