    THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :
    ****
    Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.

    Love the stalactites, they are something special to see, shame about the bad air at the end, so close too. Had a caver down here a weekend ago, he was saying how hot it is in our mines down here in Cornwall, I can see he really missed wading through miles of ice cold water that cooled him down 🤣

      Yup lol, we will do a video down the left branch someday, but got some mines coming up we've never been down :). I have a great cooling system, it's called waders with a very slight leak lol

    A guy in the area here 🇨🇦 posted a video (since deleted) of a mine with tons of flowing water into a sketchy hole with a wooden platform across it. He was saying it absolutely REEKED of sulphur. I know which mine it was but even with good maps it’s a complete mystery how he got in.

    Love your videos. I must admit you guys are crazy doing what you do 😊. I don’t think I would be brave enough to even attempt some of the stuff you do. Keep it up.

      Thanks very much. Nore was I when I first started, I found many things very scary, but over time, it’s like getting used to driving, it’s an environment you get used too as you gain the skills to read the environment. Next few videos hopefully will be in new locations and one will even invoke a dig, using ww1 technology (if the dig is successful. Apologies for the fuzzy image in some parts of this video, I accidentally knocked the iso up.

    Have you ever been to an abandoned mine that hasn’t been filled with water

    I was flicking through channels on my satellite system a couple of days ago and stumbled upon you on an Austrian TV channel. 3 Sat. I only caught the tail end of it. You were showing what looked like a middle-aged woman part of a mine. I will keep an eye out in case the program is repeated. The German and Austrian channels often show documentaries of the UK. This one was about Wales.

      That’s strange, not been in any documentaries and no videos based in Wales. Glad you enjoy though :)

      @@UKAbandonedMineExplores I only caught the very tail end of it so could be wrong in that it was in Wales, but they did show a quick shot of a map and I saw Aberystwyth. It definitely was you, though. I hope it is repeated, so I can investigate further.

    only 736 views, people are missing out!
    Tide mark, I presume it is just were the mine fills up to with water, do these mines ever dry out?

      Maybe because I did a Sunday release as it was running late. Nope, never dry out.

    Curious how the arches were made during the mining process. Also is this still common practice in the UK?

    • @UKAbandonedMineExplores
      @UKAbandonedMineExplores  10 месяцев назад

      The same as the Romans did, with wooden arch formers, later, metal formers. Modern arches are steel so don’t last that long.
