When i try to sew close to an edge my machine struggles to feed the fabric through or the fabric gets chewed up by the feeder dogs (maybe that's where they get their name) I've tried playing with the foot pressure and tried using a zipper foot and straight-stitch foot, but I am still having issues.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks 🙂

Oof! That sounds hard and I’ve totally been there. It could be that your machine tension is too tight. If you haven’t had it serviced in a while it might be time. It also could be that your machine just doesn’t like to do them, which can be a thing! I stitched about 1/8” from the edge on this one. Any closer and the machine would try to eat it. It could also be that you need a tear away fabric stabilizer but that could be annoying to do for every step! Probably ask your sewing machine repair shops technician and they could have better suggestions for you. Good luck!

Instead of stabilizer maybe try tissue paper. Much lighter but will help with the feeding of the fabric. So you may be able to leave it in and not tear out. Will give more “body” to the final sewing.
