Rocks 🪨 in the baler, not a good thing. You really got an operation there. You must have a customer that’s needs square bales of straw. Enjoyed watching, very interesting to watch. Hope the family is all well and good. Thanks Dennis 👍‼️
Dennis, Teamwork 👍🏼, Amazing how versatile and Comfortable the little John Deere’s are, we have a 1025r. And its a little workhorse, nice setup for baling! Take Care! 🚜👍🏼🇱🇷
Nice simple system, that works both in the field and stationary, without enormous cost.....In April of this year we swapped out to a complete new system..... that also can be used both ways....but we chose to use it stationary.....It improved our load capacity and reduced time needed
Thank you for sharing the video. After watching both of your videos on the rebaler I contacted my local dealer and ordered one. It’s the Hustler SX105 and it just came in. So excited about getting to use it. I have about 275 round bales of rye straw that I want to turn into squares to resale.
@@DLHFarms thank you buddy. I’ve bought the AF10 Kuhns accumulator after watching your video, the back up camera for the accumulator and now the rebaler because of your really good informative videos. I really enjoy watching them. I have a partnership with an older gentleman who’s like a grandfather to me at his hay farm. Hoping to keep doing it and having my own hay farm one day, with a RUclips channel. Well Merry Christmas and keep up the great videos.
interesting video.People in my area will pay just about anything for bales of straw, but they always complain about paying for really good quality small bales of hay.I`m in Pittsylvania County VA.
yes here too special acreage owner with horses here i have been doing this for a long time to make small bales I do have horses too i am fine with the larger square bale for my self but people who have horses here like small square bales I have seen it as high as 18 dollars per bale this years i have got that at and action for the small bales had bad bales yea take it to action stupid poeple sale my nephew said
Pretty neat idea! Wonder if you could stack a couple of square bales on the outside of the bale-unroler and the baler to keep the overflow in the baler pick up?
Good video keep up the good work. You could spray something on the surface to make it slippery for the bales to slide on but thats not goin to harm the animals at the same time.
I noticed you set the round bale up opposite of the way it would naturally unroll.. looks like the unroller wants to pull off the bottom, but you set the bale to unroll from the top... Does that give you better control?
Hey, after rebaling these last few years would you say it's overall worth it? I'm debating if it might be worth it for us to only do rounds and big squares during the summer months and then only rebale into small squares in the winter. We do landscape work in the summer, which is arguably more profitable... The idea would be to have work for our guys in the slow winter months...
take 4 - 7' long pieces of 1-1/2" metal pipe. weld bolt on sticking out to grab the bales and a sprocket on one end. using a chain and a small motor to drive it(garage door opener), that should get them out. punch door remote when needed.
I kinda feel bad sitting on my couch here watching y'all work. I guess it's time for me to go outside and get something done. Thanks for the videos, Dennis. I would rather watch this than TV with hundreds of channels of crap.
That worked pretty good, but I remember a video you made rebaling hay, and it seems to do a better job with the hay. Probably because the straw is short and loose. Either way, it's still better than feeding the baler by hand!
in 64 i was at school my mate came home dad not at home he was baling and the baler was not tying so he hand fed at 4 0/c no dad home he somehow got caught in the untied string and was pulled in to the baler SO PLEASE CHAPS DONT HAND FEED PLEASE.
Dennis, Great Video - Thank You, Sir! You should make every customer that bitches about the high price of Little Square Bales WATCH IT 3 times and say this is why it costs what it does!
I can see where it would feed a whole lot easier into the baler if the round bale is unrolling as it was baled, rather than digging at the bale cause of unrolling it the opposite way
I’ve been waiting to see this vid ever since you teased us with it in another vid 😁. That’s basically the set up I was gonna do but put a Tedder between unroller and baler to fluff the hay/straw before the pickup catches it. What are the bales like? Odd lengths? Bananas? Cheers 😁
@@DLHFarms yeah, we tried with rolling them out in a field to re bale. Had every kind of bale known to man!🤦🏻♂️ And it ate shear bolts for fun😭. That’s why I wondered if something to fluff it up like a Tedder before the stuffer fingers might help🤔🤷♂️
Ive done this before......not using the same equipment but re-baled hay and straw into small squares. Too much expense !!!!! Not to mention inhaling the dust inside a building. ( Lungs are expensive ! ). I wouldnt do it for 30.00 dollars a bale ! Instead I bought a 4x4 round baler. When farmers can buy hay or straw for 1/10 the price they jump all over it ! Cut the size of the bale to 2ft. x 4ft. You can handle them with ease.....or roll them. If those are too big.....can always cut them in half using a chain saw. No re-baling
Those straw bales don’t weigh 900 pounds straw is lighter. We were getting about 11 bales per round. Poppi2006 was trying to tell you that I tell how many it makes in the video at the time stamp 29:39.
Talked about this in another comment. It’s baled so loose it comes off to fast turned the other way. Works a lot better for the baler this way I tried it both ways.
@@DLHFarms Now, I mentioned that because of my terrible allergic reaction with hay dust, commonly called HAY FEVER! ( which is nothing to sneeze at, I can tell you )
Talk about labor intensive, the money that's spent to re-bale is ridiculous, go rent the ground and bale it into small squares...Done!! to much money in the bank...you can keep doing it until its all gone..the money that is!!

Good morning Dennis, I appreciate baling videos because it reminds me of warm sunny weather. For that I give you a great big THANK YOU!!!

Yep I tried it the other way and it was coming apart to fast for the baler. I found turning it the wrong way gave me more control.

If you have guys you need to keep busy it will work fine. If you try to rebale yourself you won’t like it.

I have to ask.... Why take rounds and turn to squares verses just bale round and square??

You’re welcome. I understand about the TV. I canceled my direct TV account the other day.
How big is the building where going to have a new one built for our equipment and I like the size of yours
I would say make it 80 x 120 with a couple big doors front and back.
It’s 70x135
I like that Dirt Dog hay spear. They are made a few miles from me. I have several attachment's they make.
Yeah I like it too. This one has been modified with shorter spears to make it easier to get in and out of bales.
That worked pretty good, but I remember a video you made rebaling hay, and it seems to do a better job with the hay. Probably because the straw is short and loose. Either way, it's still better than feeding the baler by hand!
The only other thing I’ve rebaled so far is Rye straw that’s what I was rebaling in the other video it did work better because it was longer.

Graphite paint? Heard its slick once painted on.
Yeah I use it on the accumulator need to get some more.
If you start breaking a lot of shear pins, check the bushing the pin goes in. They can wear and develop a little slop and shear the pins easily.
👍
Try the bed liner material they use in dump truck beds. That stuff is slippery. Should help the hay slide better.
First and that looks like a lot of work good luck and have a great day
Thanks
Maybe a couple sheets of metal roofing ar back of accumulator.
Should be real slick with straw

How does the set up work with alfalfa and grass hay?
Works excellent
@@DLHFarms gotcha...i had a conversation with a fellow from the company this afternoon. Seems like it could be a great thing.

How many little bales are you getting out of one round bale?
About 11
Great video Dennis. How many round bales did you end up using ?
Can’t remember but we we were getting 11 bales from one round
I can see where it would feed a whole lot easier into the baler if the round bale is unrolling as it was baled, rather than digging at the bale cause of unrolling it the opposite way
It was actually feeding to fast turning the correct way that’s why I turned it around
i'll rebale down to about -13f. You could try some puck board/poly board and some Pam on it to get your bales away from the accumulator
Burrrrr that’s cold
I’ve been waiting to see this vid ever since you teased us with it in another vid 😁. That’s basically the set up I was gonna do but put a Tedder between unroller and baler to fluff the hay/straw before the pickup catches it. What are the bales like? Odd lengths? Bananas? Cheers 😁
There are some odd lengths sometimes. Feeding consistently helps keep that from happening but it’s hard to do.

11 bales
