  • Looking for a Betfair Trading Strategy? Order-flow trading is as old as time itself. In this clip we take a look at a pre race trading video on Betfair's exchange. But there's a twist...
This isn't your average pre race betting market. There's been significant delays to the schedule, making it a different opportunity to usual. For all the details it's worth watching to the end.
Order-flow trading often occurs when there is a steady flow of money into any pre-race betting market. Other Betfair trading strategies are possible, but the flow of money race-after-race is often what attracts so many Betfair traders each day, there's mistakes, corrections and value all over the place - if you're skilled enough to extract it is something else.
This clip is broken down into several sections:
    Introduction - 0:01
    Race delays - 0:37
    Trading volume - 3:51
    Broken down trade - 4:20
    Key points - 8:30
Enjoy! and don't forget to leave a comment. Is this the best Betfair trading video on RUclips?

    Excellent video Cann.
I have the video pack but always find a little golden nugget in most of your videos which helps in building up my trading knowledge.

I don't know if this would be useful to everyone but it's helping me. I scribble down the prices of the front four in the market at ten mins, five, three, one min out. Doing this reminds me to step back a little and not stay focused on the one runner. And it's easier (quicker) to track the movement than peering at the tiny BF graph. And it's surprising how often the price at 10 mins and the price at one min are within a couple of ticks each other after all the ups and downs.
I also have a card pinned to my monitor with price/percentages. Quickly checking those numbers gets me looking at the whole market rather just the fav or 2nd fav.
But I'll leave you with this quote from John Maynard Keynes:
"The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."
What trader can read that without a rueful smile.

Many thanks for this particular clip. Watching it I know I would have read the graphs wrong and thought the fav would drift. I might also have thought the 2nd would come in as it had the same matched totals as the fav. When I seen you back the fav I thought whoa???
And that's why I am struggling still. But hey ho....I didn't go in play today.....a first.....so maybe there is hope for me yet.

The reason this is such a good video is, this is how to trade. You must adapt to the market which is in front of you, every market is unique, there may be similarities but none are the same. If every handicap market was the same you could set up a bot to reel in the cash, there is no system rules to stick too which will guarantee you green or as you say Caan there is no magic make money button and if there was what would be the fun in that. Trading is fun if you can't enjoy something you plan to do as a full time profession, look for another way out of the 9 to 5 grind.

Find these very interesting and would like to try out trading, any recommended beginner videos to watch? (Barely even understand what the Betfair exchange is as I’m used to chucking a tenner on normal betfair and losing it in 19 seconds)

I must admit, I find it much easier to make a profit now than three or four years ago..i've ditched all the aids and indicators and other nonsense, and i just have the race up and trade it using the graph and feel for what's coming next..there's no doubt that the more races you trade ( and i'm talking years here) the easier it is to read it .. I lost loads of money in my early days and stopped and restarted many times..but the more I did it the better I got..But i do use the graph..without that i'd be blind

Hi Caan, which software do you usually use for trading?

Hi Caan, hope you are well? I have a question for you but it’s probably not worthy of a RUclips video response!
Twice in the last few days I have taken an early price on a horse that I felt was value and would come in. I have been in a green situation hours before the race only for a non-runner to be declared. Rule 4 then comes into play and I’m then looking at a loss!
Both times the price still came in enough to get a small green but it’s really frustrating!
Should I just be taking these occurrences on the chin, and take the loss if I have to? It’s just a business expense as you would say! Or should I be waiting a bit later to enter the market? Have I just got FOMO?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated!
    Cheers

you know what Caan i traded with with £200 stakes and my trades all went into red no Green up profit the prices went against me. £200 halved in less than 30 seconds £200 was £90 so quick my green up button seemed Red most of the time. Then my last £200 i let run i cashed greened up in running for £29.00. It went on to win at 9/2 cost me £900 profit. I don't think i'm cut out for gambling or trading i enjoy your videos though mate thanks Caan

Not specifically on topic but I find it interesting as a non-trader "punter" how you trade on betfair yet you still have a working knowledge of the horses you're trading on to help with decision making. I wonder how many traders incorporate that into their routine like they should imo.

    • @MountainProspector
      @MountainProspector 6 лет назад

I'll clarify....@ 7:18 you mention about horses being young and from a specific yard which you use in relation to a reasoning for action relative to a price movement. That was the bases of my original comment. I don't know if you meant "win" as in trading or punting but my original comment wasn't about horses winning a race but rather that you have some knowledge of the horses which you used to help with your trading. According to this video you clearly are using knowledge of the horse to help make a decision although I have no idea of the importance you put of that knowledge.
The rest of what you said I think was based not on what I really meant to convey. Might I add that I am very aware of the marketing ploys used to get people to line the corporate pockets. Imo knowledge of horses (their potential) and statistical likelihoods are required to win races but again I think we might be using the same words with different definitions. If I am right then you will agree the idea is to find value, yes? So that's what I do with my knowledge of form, I find value in my own way.

Caan, Have you ever thought of doing live trading sessions where you trade and everybody else follows every step you make ? :D
You could charge monthly or weekly (whatever) for that kind of service :)
    Is anyone doing it ?
I would join without hesitation and pretty sure a lot of people would such a service.

If you traded 100 markets every day for 30 days and had an average profit of £34 per trade at the end of the 30 days you would have over £100,000. Do you think this realistically achievable
