I understand your comments about the GT400. I had an Evora 2011 and was looking at upgrading to the 400 and when I drove it - it was virtually the same as my existing Evora, so I got an AMG GTS instead.

Really miss my e34. It wasn't special, only a 520 se, but it felt special. Bought for £135! Basically saved from the scrap heap. Spent well over 10x that on it, replaced a shed ton of stuff on it myself and with my dad, but it was solid. I will buy another one, getting thin on the ground though.
Its ok I really love you exactly because you dont use car review tropes and this is fine for me as long as you dont do updates every couple fucking years 😂😂😂
Indeed a lot of hard earned has gone . Driving pleasure is in inverse proportion to the weight of the vehicle . In UK's crowded and narrow roads the narrower a car you can find the better. So your change is to buy something with 170BHP under 800kgs and less than 1.7m wide yet is quiet with a pothole compliant ride and seat you can do 8hrs in.
In his defense, he got his cars for little money. I currently search for "some interesting car" (in Germany), and at those prices all I see are cars with dubious history, if any. The fact he got plenty good ones, too, is rather surprising me.
Wow, a taste in cars similar to my own and a similar history (BMW, Saab, Honda, Subaru) except that my track cars have always been affordable Hondas. Nice video.
Interesting stuff. Also interesting (for a filmmaker) is that unholy cacophony of oranges, blues & reds etched into my retinas for 40 minutes. Never be boring!

Wait what, you are just 30 (+2) years old? I always thought of me being quite a bit younger than you! :) You played a small role in my choice to finally buying an Elise, also thanks to my parents allowing me to use their cars until I could finance one completely on my own.
I'm on my 5th car. I have 3 simple rules that I've managed to stick to so far: the new car must have a bigger engine than the previous car, more power and a faster 0-60. I've gone 1.2, 1.6, 2.2, 2.5, 3.5 on engines, bhp was 60, 90, 177, 209, 350 and the 0-60s have been 14.5, 10(ish), 8.2, 7.4 and 5.2. I might have to break one of those rules with the next one...I can neither afford to buy nor run anything that would outdo that last one (which incidentally has a 2GR like the Evora, great engine).
Interesting, starting to like these "old" type cars now, but just thinking you got scammed by a lot of ppl, would you not have learned from the first few lol? My parents have got the 407 sw, I drove it for a few years, it's still a great car being 11yrs old, no issues at all, can cruise in that in comfort. My first car, Peugeot 208, followed by Peugeot rcz, now I have an Hyundai i30N performance 😎, saw your review on that 👌🏾 How old is your new 7 series? You going to review that? Why such a big car because you usually review very sporty cars and that ain't sporty.
I'd get the S2k out of them. The list of the cars that I owned it's not really long 1. Honda Integra G1 '86 1,5 automatic on carburettor 2. Mazda 323 bg 1.6 16v in red '93 3. Ford Puma 1.7 I'm now looking for a V6 Ford Cougar. Also I'd like to get a Galant V6 Avance estate in future. The budget is not too big but I live in Poland so it's a little different in here. I did live in England for almost 7 years before so I knew what I was justifying

IMO, this has been the best of the dozens and dozens of your videos I have seen. Far more info stuffed into it than in any of the others, too. My list is probably only 8 cars long (including only cars I actually owned), largely because 1. I always had a ridiculously short commute at work, 1-2 miles each way, and 2. because I hate paying all these taxes and fees when I buy or sell a car, so I keep them 'until death do us part" (their death, not mine! Live and Let Die, as the great philosopher Bond James Bond once said, except maybe for the final one I will ever own), and then give them to charity and get a tiny tax write-off, because by that time they were never, to date, worth more than $4k. (although my magnificent E38, if sold today, would probably get an insane $12k or so, despite its flaws and its 150k miles). I also started with a wagon, a 1975 Passat wagon I got in 1979 in Boston for $2k when in college (a HUGE amount in 2022 worthless dollars), and you'd not believe that wagon weighed an incredibly low 2,000 or so lbs. I double checked, it did!
I like that you have cut out a piece of seat from each car and made a shirt from it, total respect!

I'm from Peterborough and can confirm that we are still full of dodgy car dealers
I used to work for a vehicle transport company and we were under instruction from BCA to take all the shitters we would collect from dealers and storage yards to their Peterborough branch. I imagine that's where the dealers get a lot of their stock from...
Yup same
So many 2005 cars. Excellent video, liked your channel before but this really was a chance to get to know you
Wow... in 18 years I only had 6!
Mazda 323
Nissan Almera
BMW Z3
Seat Ibiza + Lotus Elise
Toyota Yaris hybrid + still the Lotus Elise
Only started watch your channel this year, I’ve always been into cars thanks to my dad (he had a real passion for fiats !) . Iv had three BMWs two of them being e46 ( compact TI’s) and I can safely say they were the best cars I owned, and would happy get another one once finances work them self out. I love your channel and I watch when ever I get the chance. Great content!
Opel corsa 1.2 (vauxhall nova for those brits) - Hyundai Excell - VW Bora VR6 4motion (yeah, I really do understand James' idea going from 100 bhp to more than double that), still driving the Bora, but now got me a Porsche 9S8 GTS as my weekend warrior.
Dude, if you wanted reliable you should have given up on the BMWs and bought a 25 year old Honda Civic. I put 300000 miles on mine then sold it to a guy who still drives it across country often in the States. 40-45 mpg too!
very enjoyable and almost nothing like my car ownership history. my first car was a Peugeot 404. I'm almost as old as your grandpa who owned the Triton.
KEF speakers and NAD amplifier : that is a pretty nice near field system you got here.
Thankyou. Out of shot is a REL Q201E sub
I've owned and own a 82 Ford Granada GL, a E34 520i 91 and a 98 Audi A6 S-line
Brilliant video. Your car history is amazing.
I’m a bit older than you James but just worked out that I’ve had 45 cars so far (you’ve driven 2 of the 7 we currently own as a family)
As a couple my wife and I have had 65 cars over the last 26 years
Plenty to be embarrassed by on that list, plenty of fun too.
Included in the list are 3 Alfa’s 3 Impreza turbos and 10 kit cars (7’s, Cobra’s and Fury’s) couple of 911’s lots of Fords and Audi’s
Sadly, on the list was a white Mk4 Cortina estate and a Ford Fusion .The worst was an Alfa 145 twin spark that was a stitch up cat D ex hire car!
Keep up the good work
Cheers
A very varied mix Frank, and I'm looking forward to getting your car videos out (editing them this coming week)
Enjoyed this. Very very excited to see the 760Li!
And now you’ve got it
I never knew Lotus Excel even existed so I guess it's never too late to learn new things. Thanks for the insight James, I don't know of I ever watched a 40+ minutes video on RUclips before.
Awesome history, particularly love that you've owned both a 1 Series and a 7 series. The 760 is one of my top cars to eventually own for sure!
It will hopefully be featured on the channel soon
Sweet, looking forward to it!
@@JayEmmOnCars Huzzah. Is it the Bangle-hideous one? They are a bargain (and if you're in it you can't see it).
"I started applying petrolhead logic" brilliant
When does he say that?
Love the video
Your s2000 is gorgeous I would have that as my top pick.
Dark chocolate Digestives are the best for dipping in tea 🙌🏽
Yes but the third biscuit is immoral so make sure you only have one or two
In my not so humble opinion it is trumped substantially by the chocolate hob knob due its lower propensity towards unplanned rapid disassembly when held for slightly to long within the confines of a steaming cuppa rosie lee.
Ferocious Mullet Hmmmm.... I was gonna argue cost with you on that, but I’ve just seen Digestives are 53p/100g, and HobNobs are 57p/100g. So that kinda stops me in my tracks. I don’t think you’re wrong, but subconsciously (marketing innit) I think people just reach for the Digestives. My favourite for dipping is Malted Milk. I did try the chocolate Malted Milk, and they were a massive let down. But I’m not fancy enough to buy McVities. I’ll grab the supermarket own branded shit. I don’t care.
Lawrence Timme Look at Mr Will Power over there! Can only have one or two. Ooooooooooh. Listen, once the pack is opened, your only limit is the amount of tea in the cup.
@@rajjy1976 no you need self control and high moral standards that you hold yourself to at all times. Pigging out on biscuits is not up to these standards, every biscuit you eat past the second, you are slipping away from a human to an animal.
I cannot believe you are only 30. You have been short changed by life, and dress sense, but I still like your content. Keep it up :)
It's fine, the fame will make up for it
Ive had 11 cars since 19, and Im 41 now. Still own 2 of them, 3 have been written off by other people causing me to replace the car early. Once I find a car I like, I generally keep it. Ive had my mini 20 years although its been sat in the garage most of that.
Z4M is such a underrated car imo. Z3M gets all the attention but for the money I take a Z4M all day in stick.
this video of yours I loved the most not least of your total honesty, keep safe n keep poting mate we love your videos cheers
The e46 club sport is a lovely looking car. My dad had one when I was younger. Love those cars.
26:51 his jacket lmao
And there was be thinking Jay's USP was his shirts.
I understand your comments about the GT400. I had an Evora 2011 and was looking at upgrading to the 400 and when I drove it - it was virtually the same as my existing Evora, so I got an AMG GTS instead.
well I've literally never seen a youtuber do this, but cool video!
Can’t remember all mine lol. Some highlights (or lowlights). 1974 MK3 Cortina 2000E, 1979 Vauxhall Chevette in white with orange glow around the arches, 1987 VW Polo Coupe (amazing little car), various Renaults, various Skodas, a Merc Vito 7 seater, a horrible Citroen Berlingo, couple of Mondeos (both nice)
The MG was the best video in my opinion too. Road trips to buy cheap eBay cars which are unusual is an instant money maker surely
Not really, 350k views on the MG to buy a £525 car, didnt even cover the cost of the car
@@namegoeshere6638 yeah bigger channels earn more. That was my biggest vid but not biggest earner
It was the best 'cause I was in it!
I'm 23 and I have had 8 cars now. Had the same 2 cars now for nearly 2 years though.
base model lancer and impreza's are the peak in the automotive experience
pfff, who needs an Evo/STi anyways...
That is a lovely Porsche, and I usually don't like yellow. Your mum has taste.
I had two wrx sti, nailed the living daylights out of em, apart from replacing front tyres never had a problem in 2 yrs cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Hi I’m a Jag fan and driver and live the BMW’s you have had and keep up the good work in the channel u love it
Awesome video mate, nice to see you also have good taste in Amps (I also have the NAD in the background)
Thanks Tom. Recently upgraded the NAD to a Cyrus One HD. Very happy
@@JayEmmOnCars nice I'll check that out.. Although a bag of sand is a bit out of my price range atm
Drifting in a subaru while wearing a Mitsubishi shirt. Made my day. :))
The Peugeot 407 was made SORN and never been Mot'ed again after 2015 :) RIP , Your BMW 330ci clubsport is still kicking around at 191k miles !!
Great points Sir. I would also add to that, good value too...
looks like he has been scammed many times by car dealers
In his defense, he got his cars for little money. I currently search for "some interesting car" (in Germany), and at those prices all I see are cars with dubious history, if any. The fact he got plenty good ones, too, is rather surprising me.
@@X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8X in Germany I bet they are all sold by Turks as well

JayEmm: intends to make video of his car ownership history...
winds up teaching us that it is not "easy" to make a living as a RUclipsr.
I bought my first car (a 1953 Fiat 500c) when I was 13 years old. Now, a month out from my 75th birthday, I'm about to buy my 75th car!
Wow, a taste in cars similar to my own and a similar history (BMW, Saab, Honda, Subaru) except that my track cars have always been affordable Hondas. Nice video.
Impressive AV setup. Why do you not review more luxury sedans/SUV’s?
Interesting stuff. Also interesting (for a filmmaker) is that unholy cacophony of oranges, blues & reds etched into my retinas for 40 minutes. Never be boring!
Very interesting. I will have to watch again when I am sober :)
Are you sober yet?
@@jayaybe1 Only just. That was a good session!
@@moviebod Ha ha ; - )
The E34 looks gorgeous, wish that you can buy it back
Basically you're the English Hoovie. Well done..
All I need is his view count!
@@JayEmmOnCars You'll get there, just keep doing what your doing, I watch Hoovie purely to see what he's bought next and whats wrong with it, I find it quite oddly entertaining.
@@wafty6435 It makes me feel much better about my cars ;)
Always enjoy your posts.. interesting opinions on car
Wait what, you are just 30 (+2) years old? I always thought of me being quite a bit younger than you! :)
You played a small role in my choice to finally buying an Elise, also thanks to my parents allowing me to use their cars until I could finance one completely on my own.
love the one take nature of this video
Is it possible to drive an Opel GT and review? I have a Saturn Sky in the states. I think it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
There are economical cars that do not drink much. such as the Volvo V70 D3 from 2011. I think it was 165 horses and of course there is turbo in it
I'm on my 5th car.
I30n
@@b.eduardo5105
I've had the pleasure of driving all sorts of cars but the i30n just feels special
I just bought an e46 320 touring. Feels great on the road, so stable. I wouldn't mind having a 330ci or m3 though.
A really interesting selection of cars - v interesting!
My first car, Peugeot 208, followed by Peugeot rcz, now I have an Hyundai i30N performance 😎, saw your review on that 👌🏾
How old is your new 7 series? You going to review that? Why such a big car because you usually review very sporty cars and that ain't sporty.
It's a 2007 and I will explain in the review of it why I got it
I'd get the S2k out of them.
The list of the cars that I owned it's not really long
1. Honda Integra G1 '86 1,5 automatic on carburettor
2. Mazda 323 bg 1.6 16v in red '93
3. Ford Puma 1.7
I'm now looking for a V6 Ford Cougar. Also I'd like to get a Galant V6 Avance estate in future. The budget is not too big but I live in Poland so it's a little different in here. I did live in England for almost 7 years before so I knew what I was justifying
Lmao at the arms up in the wrx snow shot whilst wearing a mitsubishii jacket
I’ve made some weird contrasting changes in cars over the yrs , as yourself , for the last 33 yrs , never added them up but must be 35 to 40 , and only crashed 1 , also had a contrast in big powerful motorbikes , and again only smashed 1 and myself a little must put pen to paper one of the days , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
26:52 Steps out of a WRX with an RA jacket. Nice!
Hi JayEmm, have a go with a mazda rx-7/8 as next car maybe? Great story 😀
Wish I still had my 197 would have brought it for a drive!
Happy (belayed) birthday, Jay!
You have had an incredible car history!! There wasn't many of your mentioned cars that I wouldn't love to own myself. Have you done any videos covering your work in the film industry?? I would love to hear about which films you worked on, and loved that you had used one of your cars as a drug dealers car haha!!!
I may do a Patreon video on my film industry work, that's probably a better place for it, there is so much car stuff for the main channel I'm already editing videos to release in December!
@@JayEmmOnCars you certainly put out a lot of very decent vids, you've got a great channel for petrolheads. I just didnt know if you'd covered your film work before I had subscribed. Loving the channel though, for sure!!!
Really enjoyed, eclectic collection yes. Sensible selection maybe not but what car nut has not bought something they shouldn't have.
