Great mental and practical reasons, delivered simply and the impact realistic. Agree with your wise words, I'm learning self defence.

reason 1, 2, 4 and 5 apply to all sports.
For reason 3: who is going to attack you in a civilized country?
I just don't see how being constantly thrown around builds confidence.
I know what I'm talking about: I have done judo for 5 years.

What if you get attacked by a drunk? Or someone is just trynna be tough guy and starts fucking with you, what if you're with your family and someone does that, would you be able to protect them? It's not about being in a civilized country, shit can go south real quick regardless where you live, and you always gotta be ready.

@@ahmedelsaidi6637 Indeed, you are right. "Shit" can happen to you wherever you live. The word civilized is perhaps a bit strange, I meant, as I hope people realized, countries with an extremely low criminality rate. However, knowing martial arts can also be a weakness in this kind of situations: you might overestimate yourself and get yourself into a lot of trouble when running away would have been much more effective. This is one of the reasons why I think martial arts should not be taught to kids.
