I have a friend who owns a Coolray and had an accident. Not really sure how long it took for the repair to finish but during the repair, Geely gave them another Coolray for them to use while waiting for the repair to complete. Nice.

This was a good initiative Joo, its really helpful hearing from actual owners, especially those with over 20k on the clock, those persons can best tell you whats up with a vehicle more than a review or test drive can. Common bit of data i found interesting, most persons were coming from a Fortuner, on one hand its a downgrade(in terms of vehicle size) but chances are if they sold the vehicle to buy the Geely they would have come out with a nice surplus to help with the purchase and bring down the loan quite a bit without sacrificing features just space which most people wont mind that much.

Now this is good content, feedback from the owners themselves. Good to know that Coolrays are reliable 3 years since it launched. Mileage is important and more than 30k is already an achievement. Any vehicle as long as you take care of them properly will last a long time regardless of the country of origin or brand. We used to have a 2014 Hyundai Eon, not a very durable car with high quality parts, but it lasted 6 years with us with only 26k mileage before we sold it. Never had any major accidents or any parts replaced, just oil changes and battery. Coolrays that never had issues, especially the 2019 models, are proving their quality now. One youtuber, CARpenter's Production has a Coolray that is already at 70k mileage.

And as a small update: The owners are right: You getting a lot for your money. But for example the Changan 1.5 fuel consumption is a joke in the 21 century. 7km/liter in the city? That’s 14.3 liters / 100km. That’s like a V8 consumption. My 2017 Jeep GC used 9 liters/ 100km with a V6!

Three years owner of coolray here. Somethings I will point out with my experience…
    1. In my ownership, I had one problem during my first year. A component of the steerimg wheel broke which resulted in the car losing its honk and sterring wheel control of radio, cruise and dash setting. I still could drive but we decided to have it towed (for free since it is still included in the warranty). The parts took 2 weeks but they still took additional 2 weeks to install because they did not have the program needed and had to consult Chinese manufacturer. This was during the pandemic with lockdowns going on.
This is something I knew (although not informed by my agent) that could happen. We had a Chevrolet car when it was still new in the Philippines. It had suspension problem and took 7 months for the parts to arrive.
Still its a little bit concerning since the steering wheel problem I had was uncommon. In our family owing many cars (we had taxis before), this is the first time we experienced such problem. Adding to it, this is a less than a year car.
So far, I had no other problems and was satisfied with their response.
    2. I think their customer service is above average and better than other dealers. Although during the first 2 years sheduling for maintainance is a hassle because of low number of casas. It is now much better. It is also relatively cheaper and I feel like their staff are much friendlier.
    3. As for the performance of the car, I only have one issue. Because the engine is smaller, I noticed that in eco mode you will slip down the hill when idle. This is even if I have no cargo or passenger. The engine is powerful enough if you are using it in normal mode and very fast enough if you are using sports mode.
If I am going to buy onto geely again, at most I will buy the coolray or the emgrand. They all have the same engine and it is weak for a larger vehicle.
    4. For fuel effenciency, it depends on how you drive it. When my brother drives my car, he gets 6 to 8 km/L in the city. When I drive it, I get 10 to 12 km/L. I definitely got more efficient in driving it. It is still more gas chugging that my vios.
    5. For a little more than 1 million, it is a really a good buy. It feels like a 2 million plus car. My 3 years old coolray has better tech than the new ford everest of my brother.
    6. If you’re going to finance this, it will have higher interest rates compared to other cars. Even my bank manager discouraged me into buying. The banks will offer more favorable terms for other cars than this one.
Do I recommend it? I probably will not because it is still early to say. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. It is still the best buy for its price range. I am still more satisfied with my Coolray than my Vios.
If you are considering cars from Geely, test drive one. Be sure to know that there will always be downside to owing these cars.

Update since Geely have a PR problem right now. I have been twice to Geely Makati. The casa is almost open and more like open parking than a typical casa from other brands. My first time with them I had my walk in pms. I had no problem but they advised me to schedule next time. Last month I had a problem with break lights. I saw in their website that they are open during Sundays. I tried scheduling on the website for a Sunday. Nobody texted me or followed up. I figured I should just show up. Their casa in Makati was closed. North Edsa is open during Sundays. They gave me a number to text for scheduling and I did that but still no reply. I just walked in the next day and I was not in the appointment. The problem with my car is a little rubber for the mechanism in the break pedal. One of the staff told me “Ah ang tagal din po before napalitan noh? Buti inabot pa ng 3 years.”
In my mind, we never had this problem with other cars. Is it a common problem? It seems to be in coolray for her to comment like that. Do other dealer just change that regularly during pms without me knowing? Anyway it’s free.

It's basically just their version of a Volvo and it has both it's cons and pros.
Just like Volvo, you can be assured that it's good fckkkn tech you get and is worth your money.
The bad news is reliability since, just like Volvo as well, tech can fail and even Volvo tech can fail from time to time and no, it's not because it's now Chinese-made unlike what most detractors will say but due to Volvo being too complex than they should be.
but it's not just Volvo as well.
This is basically true for every manufacturer especially if they have tech in their cars.
Hell, just look at the Euro cars like BMW, Volkswagen, Peugeot and many more.
They're waaayyy too overly complex and have errors and failures that would make Geely's faults look like a mere stumble.
And let's not forget some manufacturers who cheat on emissions tests.

+1 Exactly. I've had Toyotas in the past and no doubt they're good and over-engineered, but totally bland and bare IMO. But then I've also had Hyundais and they were good, too. I had a Chevy and my experience was bad but that doesn't mean others will experience the same. If you take care of your car, it will take care of you, regardless of brand. Similarly, if the car isn't right for you, your experience will not be nice. We are the sentient being not the car, hence, we have the capacity to adjust while a car doesn't. If the car were sentient, it probably wouldn't like you either, if you're not the right driver for it hahaha.

Chinese cars scored extremely low on the European crash test so they couldn’t get a foot on the European market.
Volvo was owned by Ford at that moment but was up for sale
So in short Geely bought Volvo for the knowledge & know how
Coz Volvo is Quality, durability and Safety
Geely brought all the designers to China and also a lot of Workers from Volvo….

And as you can see the result is amazing

to invest on a new brand in the market, you need to establish the resale value. What's use of buying a inexpensive new car when its hard to sell it and replace it in the future. Just ask buy your car dealers and see if its easy to resell later on. But that's okay if you have plenty of resources, and you are willing to take a risk.

Just bought a Emgrand Premium 2 weeks ago in Geely Cabanatuan. Nung nilinis ko yung kotse ang napansin ko ay puro putik yung left side ng makina at umabot pa sa ilalim ng hood yung tilamsik ng putik. Pakitanong naman po sa mga club member na mayroon Emgrand kung na experience nila ito.

Nice content, bro. I got my Emgrand a week ago, and I'm still in shock. I dreamed of owning this car last year, and I told myself I would have it soon. Now that I have it, I'm satisfied with the comfort and the technology it offers. However, I'm still a little worried about parts availability in case I experience issues, like other Geely owners have reported. I will join this club soon 🫡

it’s actually funny how most people look down on chinese brand without them realizing that all cars in the market, regardless of geographical location, is actually partially built by a chinese company. The toyota’s that most people love to praise for it’s durability? parts that hold the entire thing is actually from china. And if you dig in a little deeper, some of those panels are actually manufactured in mactan cebu. =) People have done this in the past. I remember there was a time when korean brand cars were mocked. I used to be one of them. Now korean made suv’s are sometimes more expensive than the more established jap brand. China’s manufacturing prowess is recognised globally. believe it or not, china manufacture parts that make a table stand to a rocket that is launched to space. Let’s quit the whole ‘’china made’’ stigma. They are here and they are here to stay regardless of how their government is. Let’s just appreciate the fact that car’s like coolray is here to prove a point; Toyota and other established car brands in tge country, are ripping us off with the idea of ‘’parts availability’’ and selling their cars at premium prices but giving us subpar cars at the most.

at the end of the day, it all boils down to maintenance, doing your research and being a good driver that respects their vehicle. parts delay affects all brands specially if it's a part that rarely gets broken (probably from our own negligence without us even knowing it or from unfortunate accidents). parts availability is a matter of systems, process and numbers. For new brands in our country, there's not enough historical data to go by so let's not stop other buyers from buying their products so they can accumulate the data and improve their parts availability then. All the big brands started as new brands we which we have tagged as new and unreliable at one point in time. Let the buyers choose themselves. Sure, for some it's in their nature to stick with the old and reliable but let those that want to test the new ones choose freely without hate or prejudice.
