  • Wilson Pro Staff 97 version fourteen tennis racquet review by Solow Sports.
If you're strong enough to handle this racket, the payoff in power is huge. The Wilson Pro Staff 97 v14 is a precision-oriented racket ideal for advanced players. Slightly lighter than the Pro Staff RF 97, it still has a high weight that's concentrated in the handle. Designed with Paradigm Bending technology to optimize the bending profile between the shaft and hoop, this racket offers precision and pinpoint control. We arranged the double braid at 45-degree angles, allowing the frame to breathe more upon impact. This increases dwell time while maintaining the stability responsible for the classic Pro Staff feel.

Hi! What string do you recommend? And string tension?

String and tension are specific to player. What are your priorities? (power, control, spin, durability, color, brand, price, feel, comfort, etc) Let us know and we can better suggest.

    Hi
I am a pro tennis player and am looking to buy a racket between prostaff v14 and blade v9 . Can u pls tell me which generates more power amd control ?

I presume you will want something custom. Also Blades typically don’t come in. We have enough for pro players, but the pro staff does. I think weight might be more of a determining factor for you between those 2 options. Pro staff is classic strokes with an emphasis on net play, serve, control, and one handed backhand. Blade is more user-friendly.

Do you think the v13 or the v14 would be an easier frame to play? I currently play with a very underspec rf with synthetic grip so it plays like a leather grip standard version. Im thinking about getting the v14 or v13 for the days that I don't feel so great.

The v13 and the v14 will play identical. The pro staff line almost never gets touched year to year as it is a classic that doesn’t need any adjustment. I typically do not recommend having multiple rackets in your tennis bag to switch between but as the RF 97 is so demanding, it may make sense.

@@SolowSports I have a different question, since your answer to this question I decided to get the 97 v14, but was wondering if it would matter if I used the previous version of the 97 as well since its cheaper. Is there that much of a difference to not warrant this?

@@andrewseung2692 Quick Answer = they are the same and you will play great with either. More In Depth Answer = many people scrutinize the rackets with a microscope and find very small differences. Mathematically it may be 1-5% different. Although i agree that these minute differences exist, unless you are paying exorbitant amounts of money like the top pros on tour its impossible to eliminate all differences so might as well not dwell and these things and enjoy this great game :)

@@SolowSports Thank you for your response. One final question is that is there a difference in feel of the racket between the two? I can deal with different specs, but if the feel is too different from each other then I will just go with a used v14.

@@andrewseung2692 Specs are the same. Feel is the same. Some players, again, overanalyze and say its different. But i feel a racket with 100 hours of play and a new racket will play differently even if the specs are identical OR a racket with fresh strings and a racket with used strings will do the same. So my opinion is that its truly similar and not a big deal :)
