im trying to understand why my patriot viper 2x8 kit runs way better at 3200 than my corsair lpx 2x16 at the same speed. the corsair kit is dual rank and the patriot viper kit is single rank samsung b-die and it absolutly shits all over the lpx kit for latency and read/write bandwidth again at the same freq. this seams literally opposite of what this video suggests. cpu this was tested with is a r5 3600 oc'd to 4.5ghz all core. also the samsung b-die can handle more voltage for daily (up to 1.5 vdram) which means i can push it waaayyyy farther than the lpx ram. can easily run 3600 cl14.

Hey so glad I found your video! Was wondering why this "number of ranks" parameter is almost never talked about in RAM upgrade how-to-videos & articles... Yet when I went online shopping for new RAM, I stumbled on this 1Rx8 vs 2Rx8 parameter, even for a same model of RAM sticks (HyperX FURY 3200 has the two types). Now, do you happen to know if it is ok to mix the two types (1Rx8 + 2Rx8)? My HP Omen 30L already has a HyperX FURY 3200 2Rx8, but last week I ordered a HyperX FURY 3200 1Rx8 to add beside it, will it work? Would have been better if it was a 2Rx8 I guess? Thanks in advance!

Sweet spot for ryzen now seems to be 3600 cl16 with 4*8 single ranked. Also if you're going with just 2 sicks of 16g don't go with crucial as they are single ranked. However, those are ideal for 64g if you really need that much.

It is easy: You need enough CPU cores and power to access and process thee ram your using. Exampel‘s are Dual Core Quad for two 2GB RAM sticks and Quad Core for four RAM sticks up to 32 GB combined. For evrithing else you need more cores like Rizen. Or at least a 8core CPU from Intel. With Hyperthreading you will have more options and lower Latency on processing as an backup to the normal cores but it can as well leed to interferences depending on the system and Software.

I understand the editorialized titles for the other channels, but for techquickie where people arguably come to the videos for a specific answer to a very specific question, I'm not really sold editorialized titles are the best solution for THIS particular channel. Even if they're you know, 'fine' for the other ones.

Does anyone here know if running graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as video editing software such as Adobe Premier Pro are better off with single rank RAM sticks or is dual rank RAM better? The computer I bought recently on Amazon is the Acer Aspire XC-895-UR11 which is a budget desktop that has the 10th generation Intel Core i3-10100 4 Core Processor. The motherboard on this computer allows only two sticks of RAM up to a maximum of 32GB's. I want to max it out with 2 sticks/16GB each but wanted to know if the RAM sticks I get should be single or dual rank for the type of programs I run.

Hello, I have a question for a possible video, Is it possible to put a Sim card/LTE on a desktop? I've seen some PCIe modules that advertise they can, but not sure if it would be possible of if these are just some random Chinese parts
    Thank you

I have four RAM sticks and four slots. Will running at dual rank vs single rank matter for me? The XMP profile uses single rank by default so that's what I'm using now.

Now if only someone could explain if it's worth it to change the interleaving size?
Do you need a bigger size with more sticks? more ranks?
Can you use the minimum of 256 bytes?
Can't find any info on this.

CPU Z shows all information including ram type, size and speed, etc. in windows 7 64 bit Sony Vaio svf15212snb.
However, the same information is not accessible or not shown at the CMD prompt, run as Administrator, using respective WMIC commands.
Only the ram size is shown, but no SPEED, no MANUFACTURER NAME, SERIAL NUMBERS etc. Why?
I reinstalled the windows freshly but still same issues.
    Please help.

To be honest...this was almost scary! I've been having problems with my computer being slow and just plain out freezing on me because I believe there isn't enough ram to run 2 of anything anymore. So now I've been stuck trying to figuring out if I need more ram or just use what I have.

Depending on how old it is (or just faulty), it could also be a sign of the hard drive dying. The transfer of memory from RAM to HDD is very slow to begin with, but it slows down even farther when the HDD is worn down. If the S.M.A.R.T. status is anything but "healthy", you need to get it replaced ASAP.

@@whytho1690 My computer is 10yrs+. I bought it from Walmart and it isn't anything fancy but it worked for what I needed it to do. But ever since I updated the hard drive, because the first one died, and updated to Windows 10...it's having a hard time catching up. How would I know if the S.M.A.R.T. status is unhealthy? I have CrystalDiskInfo, I check it every so often, and right now it shows everything is good.

1 pack is single rank, the other is double rank yet the reference was the same, I only saw the rank in hwinfo.
I don't even know if it was the first pack or second that was double rank...
