Great info sir.I struggled with similar issue when my old laptop refused to connect to www.The problem was the time synchronization , I spent lots of time solving that bug.
Hey Dave. I've been watching your presence on hamalert for the last month or so. Sadly your signal hasn't been making it to my QTH so I haven't been able to make a contact but if the conditions are ever right and I'm on I'll definitely answer a CQ. Great vids. God bless.
I'm rocking one of these on my IC-705 as well. I put a small dab of hot glue on that socket and ribbon cable as an extra peace of mind. My other upgrade was from the AH-705 to a PA500 which allows me to go up to 60w, I typically run only 20w though.
I use a separate GPS dongle on my laptop for time sync, but I do like being able to have a USB-C port on my 705, I may upgrade mine just because. Thanks.
Dave how do you recommend someone proceeds with Radio hobby, or whatever you and other Ham's call it sorry if hobby offends anyone if you don't have any of the HAM license's and don't have the money to buy the Icom radio and other expensive radio's that Ham's use?
Or another option is buy a $8 USB GPS dongle and plug it into the computer and use that to synchronise the computers time. Mike's got a video on it: ruclips.net/video/9HSfb1kp9NY/видео.html
Micro USB & USB C are both terrible weak connectors, they're absolute TRASH for long term use. Your hands look like catchers mitts Dave, they're made for hard work 👍😁
More off-grid radio is welcome. Thanks, KZ5USA

Love to see your progress over the last few years, Dave - an advanced student to be sure. Awesome.
Nice upgrade. Just bought a 705 and have only used the USB cable to charge the battery. Lucky for me I had an old cable laying around.

Love the radio videos.
Thank you.
Outstanding! Love the Radio vids! Thanks for the tutorial on the 705 Upgrade!!!
You can find a little USB GPS dongle that will synch your laptop to GPS time. Really affordable, works great.
I don't operate any kind of radio Dave but I sure like watching just in case....
Dangit Dave. I never knew you had put out radio videos until now. Wish you would put out more, but looks like people don't come here for these vids.
Thanks for the video. They’ve been out of stock but just ordered!
I did that upgrade to the 705about 3 weeks ago
You’re an inspiration Dave.

Thanks Dave
Keep leading Dave
