Brother Yusef Lateef was one of the greatest sax and flute players in the history of jazz and beyond (worldmusic). In my opinion he invented the genre of "worldmusic" in the early 50ties. Thanks to RUclips and other channels we can watch and listen to all those geniuses of the past.
Bravo Bravo du fond du cœur à ces maitres de la musique, c'est vraiment fantastique, malheureusement je les découverts que récemment, bien sur il s'agit d'Idriss Muhammad, Ahmed Jamal et Yusuf Lateef.
They don´t make such beautiful music anymore. Miles Davis once said that Ahmad Jamal is his favourite piano player and that says a lot about this giant of a man. To top it all off two giants that have created and given us so much. God bless them, There are not so many of them left. Listen to this bliss, close your eyes and submerge yourself in this outer worlds of music. Get bedazzled by sweet sounds of deep rhythms, slowly sucking you into it´s magnetic fields. Herar Yusuf on that flute luring you into uncharted fantasies where you will get lost, Ahmad on the piano saying "come. come. there is more". Sorry to say t he devil created R&B which our kids listen to today, they grow up in a cultureless monotonous society.Like Lady Gaga and her entourage of brainless followers. Our selfie society are endulgers in empty vessels. God bless the souls of those who can paint like Picasso and play like these gods
God would never bless ANY Muslim. As Jesus said, "Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures." You mention that the devil created today's junky "R & B", but Islam is one of the devil's masterpieces. We have 13 centuries of evidence of that, and daily proof, with all the atrocities today.
And as for the first commenter: you are short sighted and don't put the effort forward to explore those deep and meaningful parts of culture that we have today. The fact that you use lady gaga as an example tells me enough about your surface level of understanding concerning youth culture. Do you not think that when lateef and Jamaal were making music there was a mainstream that lacked the deep and meaningful aspects of their work? Concerning the devil creating r&b: read a fucking book on black music history, pig.
These men came to the music filled with the Holy Spirit of our Creator. They weren't snorting coke and drinking and chasing money and fame. Theirs was a sacred quest.
Alhamdulillah! Salaams to the Elders! Father Yusef, may your eternity consist of: PEACE/POWER/PROSPERIT!Y!!! ~~ Baba Ahmad Jamal: Grandmaster of Ebony & Ivory... Give Thanks!!! Awesome post!
@@jeanhodgson8623 Did Jesus or Constantine tell you that o wait they they same person. It's said when what you believe is all so good but can damn people with your own righteousness what kind of God is that to give your allegiance too
All praises due, back in the 1950s. I am from detroit so Yusuf was in the neighborhood also we have a Tennessee connection and ahmad comes from Pittsburgh from in the fatha hines,Errol garner tradition. The power of these brothers. One love.
@@jeanhodgson8623 Really man Why? Your comment is pure conjecture, many the ways all of us pray to one God...shame on you, judge yourself thats all that matters.
WOW...what a perfect pairing of Jazz Giants; too lovely for words. That drummer's brief solo w/ the snare off was a brilliant exercise in economy; less became so much more! Yusef seemed to falter a little in the beginning, but boy did he ever make a comeback. This legend of Jazz not only sounds ancient & eternal; he looks it as well. His face seems to represent all of our collective humanity.
This is the most visual music...listen with your eyes shut and your heart open. Ahmad Jamal + Yusef Lateef at Marciac Jazz Festival, August 8, 2011. - with James Cammack (bass) Manolo Badrena (percussions) and Herlin Riley (drums),
Damn. That shit's intense. Yusef brings an experimental edge that reminds me of the greats that just suck you in, Ornette, some stuff Mingus did. LOVE this.
This is realy high class spiritual music, from insite,. What a very good vibe and interaction. And the sound of the flute is so lovely. No everything is phenomenal
Yeah, Jazz pure !!!! The very essence, Then at the end, Ahmad Jamal stands up , becomes a spectator and watches his friend close their composition, I call it high class
wonderful (flute-)Music - Yusef Lateef has been a constant influence for my music for decades - living until age 93 has been a long journey on earth - he might have stayed for some more hundreds of years and still he would have put some new insights to music crossing boundaries in between meditation and crosscultural music from the point of view of afroamerican jazz and beyond....Keep on playing your music in the next universe, you might have entered now, dear Yusef Lateef.
The truth is that you are an ignorant fuck. God loves everyone not only christians, god is love and if you are too narrow minded to understand that - go drink some poison. My advice - enjoy the music and listen to god speaking through this man , oh yes and shut the fuck up! Btw: Romans 2:14 "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves"
A marvelous performance all round. Ahmad and Yusef are two of my very favorite jazz musicians. They always sound great. Thanks for posting it. Too bad that they, and so many other jazz musicians, fell for the 7th century mohammedan death cult. As a result, Yusef is in hell now, because the Biblical Jesus is the only way to heaven. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) Yusef came from Chattanooga, Tennessee, so he must have heard the gospel. There is even a large Bible College there. (Tennessee Temple) Dizzy Gillespie gave the real reason for several black jazz musicians joining Ahmadiyya Islam. It was because of the terrible anti-black attitude in a lot of America. A black person could not enter many premises, but if they said that they were a Muslim, they could get in. I didn't make that up. Diz said it. Monk was smart, and didn't join it. Ahmad is, thankfully, still alive, so he can still get saved. But he persuaded the excellent Vernell Fournier into becoming a Muslim, and he died and went to hell. What a tragedy, that a lot of fine jazz musicians fell for this evil, in a country that has the gospel. Heroin is evil, but this is infinitely worse. Here is the way to heaven: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31)
I grew up in Detroit, yusef lived on russell st. I first heard ahmad in 1955 his use of space and time is incredible. Two of my favorites forever.
Yea Man U know,I also came from Tennessee like Yusef, we live on Russell as well. Thank u . I first heard Ahmad in 1951 playing “Billy boy”
Two famous Muslim Jazz musicians Ahmed and Yusuf Lateef on stage.. Great piece and excellent drum/ bass players

yes he did.
Jerome Bertrand Dont forget the oboe as well.
Along with the music of Sun Ra's Arkestra. Trailblazers.
Concordo pienamente
there is no sound like the silence before... true music masters control it perfectly... this is a great example of that...
This classic jazz quartet is one of the best that ever played Afro Jazz Music.

loved how Ahmad smiled in awe and mesmerisation of Yusef’s unconventional brilliance.
Two legends.Unfortunately, one of them has passed. He left behind a legacy of music.
He's now on the other side of the river.
The other one is gone now too.
Such brilliance from jazz masters!! Phenomenal!
Powerful, hypnotic piece, peace...

Sadly, he is in hell now, because he didn't accept Jesus as Saviour. There will be no peace, power or prosperity. That is the sad truth of it.
