So far I'm very happy with this watch. I wouldn't say it's worth the upgrade but it being free with my 8 pro was a great promo. The battery life is a very noticeable improvement compared to the 1st gen
Great to hear comment from someone using it. I won't get the pixel 8 as I just got the fold. But I m thinking about picking up the watch. I've been using Samsung watch. Any thoughts on differences between Samsung watch vs pixel watch 2?
I upgraded from the first gen Pixel Watch to the second, and imo it was definitely worth it. Besides MUCH improved battery life, the performance is significantly smoother than the first one. I find myself using it way more often to ask Google Assistant to set a quick timer or change my music on Spotify, whereas previously I'd use it only sparingly throughout the day due to nervousness of running out of battery before day's end. Also, auto workout detection is a GODSEND. I missed several workouts before cuz the first one didn't have it, very happy to see it here
I picked one up recently after years of owning a simple Fitbit Inspire 2. As a first-time smartwatch owner was in the market for something with GPS capabilities for tracking my runs, but was also reluctant to leave the world of Fitbit with the years of data I've already recorded on there. At the £350 MSRP I wouldn't have bought the Pixel Watch 2, but I found someone on marketplace selling one brand new for £150. This price made it hard to say no to. So far I'm liking it. The biggest adjustment is getting used to daily charging, when my old fitbit lasted 14 days between charges.

For me, it's a watch first. I don't want it buzzing for Notifications. I don't want it buzzing for Fitness stuff. I want it to tell me the time, weather & that's about it. I have my phone for the rest. What is important to me is LTE connectivity (since all the way back to the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE). Why? So I can either choose to leave my phone behind when I go out or not need to go back for it if I left it home by mistake. When I am separated from my phone, I disable DND so I have more immediate access to my Notifications, but again, that's pretty much it. I use it for convenience. I try to keep it as passive & discreet as possible with as minimal physical interacting with it as I can. If I want a smartwatch feature like Notifications, I can swipe up or rotate the crown. Otherwise, I don't want a constant reminder that it's a smartwatch & especially don't want it buzzing constantly when my phone is already alerting me. Again, I know my use-case isn't for everyone, but it works perfectly for me & after years of using countless smartwatches I wouldn't have it any other way.
So I think this is a worthy upgrade from their first iteration. Price wise it's also great since they offer in most places a decent trade in value for the Pixel Watch 1. I very much appreciate all the many upgrades especially battery life and the upgraded CPU, however there is one thing albeit minor that it is missing. And I'm sure at some point it will be added since it's only a server side change. So one of the things I appreciate on Apple Watches (I'll never own an Apple product but I can appreciate its tech) is that whenever a navigation session is started whether from a phone or from Carplay, it automatically follows on the watch. So for the Pixel watch, only if you initiated a navigation session from the phone (or the watch itself) does it show on the watch. But for some reason, when initiating a navigation session from Android Auto, it does not show on the watch. You can't even opt to manually make it do so. I would say, likely similar to most people, I use navigation through Android Auto most of if not all the time. So this would be a nice addition to an already fantastic looking and working smartwatch. The only other thing I would want is a slightly bigger size, but for now it doesn't bug me enough not to purchase it. Thanks again for your awesome review!
I wonder if they'd ever add that. My thinking is that in theory the hierarchy of safety when it comes to navigation is probably AA/car play >> watch > phone. For that reason I can't really see AA navigation letting you fiddle around on your wrist. Not saying I agree but I'd imagine that's the thinking behind the scenes.
I had the option to get the pixel 2 watch for free but passed on it. Mostly because it's not big enough and because I've used Samsung watches for the last 5yrs and decided to upgrade from the Watch 4 Classic to the Watch 6 Classic 47mm which arrives tomorrow.

Personally, I excused the short comings because of how often and how deep the Pixel Watch goes on discount (sometimes free if you buy it through promotions). Sure for MSRP, the pain points shine but for 150 or 200 it really doesn’t. That being said, there’s no day it will beat out my Apple Watch but it also isn’t getting curb stomped by it either. And if I consider the 700$ price difference, I can’t be too harsh to my Pixel watch.
When someone texts you does it display the photo, or do you still need to open your phone for that. With the second gen improving battery life, I am seriously thinking about a switch from the traditional fitbit to this.
As a truck driver I found that this watch adds around 400 to 500 steps per hour and I'm not walking just sitting there surly with how things progress in tech they should know that us humans cannot walk or run at 50 to 60 mph for 4.5 hours
I like the look and the all the functions, but the only thing that is stopping me from buying it is the size of the watch face. Apple and Samsung both have larger versions of their watches. So for now I will just have to settle for a large Samsung until Google gets their act together.

I wonder if they'd ever add that. My thinking is that in theory the hierarchy of safety when it comes to navigation is probably AA/car play >> watch > phone. If they stuck to wireless charging I could charge my watch though my phone on battery share or put it in my pixel stand.
Wow. Your audio recording quality is crisp even with those bluetooth headphones. Which ones are those ?
Looks like Pixel buds pro to me
Does the step counter still add 50k steps?
What about Google Fit though?
😂😂😂
You are kind of a Will Smith lookalike. Anyway, great review!
You're a genuine trailblazer! 🌌 -- "Courage is vital, as success and risk are intertwined.."
I work 16-hour shifts and have owned the apple watch and frontier. Both die within the workday, or I end up with 10-12%.
When someone texts you does it display the photo, or do you still need to open your phone for that. With the second gen improving battery life, I am seriously thinking about a switch from the traditional fitbit to this.
which phone are you using in this review?
As a truck driver I found that this watch adds around 400 to 500 steps per hour and I'm not walking just sitting there surly with how things progress in tech they should know that us humans cannot walk or run at 50 to 60 mph for 4.5 hours
Is it possible to connect a chest strap from Garmin or Polar? Seems like the option is gone in Wear OS 4
I love my new Pixel Watch 2 - a must have upgrade - get it today - it rocks !!
Is it rocket science to give us the option to charge automatically until 85% like every electric car can do?
I like the look and the all the functions, but the only thing that is stopping me from buying it is the size of the watch face. Apple and Samsung both have larger versions of their watches. So for now I will just have to settle for a large Samsung until Google gets their act together.
I'll see if I can wait, but the lack of wireless charging and no optional bigger screen makes me want to hold out for something better.
Just want to thank you for such a masterful and packed review. I learned a lot for the watch just got with my Pixel 8 Pro.
What is the difference with Xiaomi watch 2 pro ?
Hi. You're aware one can use a Galaxy Watch w a Pixel, right?
Trying to decide if I should keep my galaxy watch 5 pro or switch to the pixel watch 2 which I got for free as part of pixel 8 promo
Anyone know why there is no second hand or display, or hourly chime?
Ill wait til the pixel watch gen 5
Does anyone wear it on the under side of your arm. And if so, does it still work correctly?
Why nobody is talking about the fact that sleep mode on pixel and the watch arent synced ?
I had to stop wearing the pixel watch 2 as it stared irritating my skin. Which usually is a sign for me that there is a trace of nickel at the back of the watch. I luv it I just can’t wear it anymore.
Wait for pixel 3!!
I swear six or sevn months ago i heard they were being foced to change the fitbit sub because of a lawsuit. I started my trial thinking maybe premium would be dead by the time the trial was over. Soo wtf happend? Still holding our data hostage i guess. Glad that lawsuit did a lot
There is no way to turn the sound completely off. The alarm and the timer sound are permanently on. In my opinion that makes this watch the worst on the market.
Does the pixel 2 watch support ECG?
It does
I need to see videos. How does it work?
magnets to connect charging is far easier to use compare to normal wireless charge.
wtf who would reverse battery charge from a watch rn
It has a very small battery compared to anything.
The only problem I can recognize is being unable to charge it every where
Is it worth it - for full price asked - no. If it would be added free to Pixel 8 and 8 pro yes or if it would on sale (with 80% off the original price).
Step in right direction but: too small watch face, no option for sapphire crystal glass, battery life too bad, no wireless charging, subscription model
I was about to do the big nasty with this pretty girl and we were really getting into it and my Pixel Watch 2 was like "Hey, you okay? Deep breaths? Want to log how you're feeling?"
Outro music 🔥🔥🔥
3:00 this review is dishonest, it does not mention that most of these features are locked behind paid subscription.
Works with any android phone?
Yes, it does.
I’ve only had my pixel watch 2 for a couple of days but does anyone else’s watch tell them they have burnt 500 calories or more when you haven’t even worn the watch over night? also my step counts seem way off. (Now I know it isn’t perfect but I may have to go to google to ask for help on this one 😢)
My Fitbit versa 3 says I've burned 300 calories when I wake up. I've always thought that was it calculating how much I burn in my sleep. Didn't once think it was a glitch 🤣🤦♀️🤦♀️
@@MegaTot3 I don't know if it is. I was reading online that you do burn calories in your sleep roughly about the 300 but I never put that into consideration when I'm doing my exercises. It just puts me off. I haven't worn the watch in ages because of it, and everytime I wake up the 300 to 500 is always there...
Why does NOBODY talk about the fact the cellular connectivity is COMPLETERLY UNRELIABLE?
You can get through a whole day without compromises: charge the watch every day
For a fitness watch... this thing sure does suck at the 1 thing they heavily advertise it as. A fitness watch lol.
Since i have a galaxy S23 ultra the galaxy watch would be ideal i do like the look of the pixel watch 2.
Great review, it definitely made up my mind to get it.
I'm skipping the PW2 and waiting for the PW3 just like I skipped the Pixel 7 Pro.
Google owns the patents for Pebble watch, no? That thing is old, and even then had a 10 day battery
The biggest disappointment and reason not to get it is battery life. That should have been addressed and it hasn’t been. 24 hours!!
If only I could afford one....I'd use it for my running 🏃♂️
Good review
Watching this to try and understand why people want these. And I still don't get it why do you need, or even want, a smart watch??? Beside the more detailed vitals that it can take, like O2 SATs?, you can get all that information just from your phone. You can track sleep... From phone. I guess it sort of makes sense if you are SUPER into fitness, specifically just tracking fitness (to which I would suggest reevaluating your priorities lol. Being that obsessed with fitness sort of defeats the purpose of exercising *in order to live your life healthily*)
Maybe I'm missing some things it can do? But ya I do not understand why anyone wants one of these. Let alone pay $300+ for one. Honestly feels like a scam lmao, hyping up this next to useless $300 wrist band. I would rather get a really nice piece of gold jewelry, at least that looks nice.
Tbh honest I've owned many watches but prefer the apple and most of the times my use of the watch is literally just for when I'm busy doing stuff and I can't always pull my phone out just having the watch there to see whose calling or texting makes it alot easier also at times my phones on charge and I'm going shower or something I can have my watch with me and answer calls or see what's going on when I'm just out and about and can't be asked pulling my phone out coz of the cold a touch of a button on the watch I can change songs etc etc list goes on lol
Seems cool after you describe it.
I will buy a Smartwatch when it has 30 days of battery.
so, never
Makes sense, I'm waiting to buy a smartphone until it has 30 days of battery too.
Google HAS to make the pixel watch 3 with a better battery. If it's 24 hours on unboxing, it will only go down with use
I will not buy a pixel watch until they get over 30 hours on a single charge, preferably get up to 48 hours or more
tell us whether Whatsapp calls are available?? tell us whether we can reply to notifications or not????? tell us how 4G LTE works??? this a weird review, you skipped the most important parts of a smartwatch review. what about ECG??
Not quite there yet imo
I agree.
Definitely heading in the right direction but just not there yet
That screen getting cracked in no time
What made ?
Nobody should buy this garbage at full price
Will never ever pay for that stupid Fitbit premium. Totally dumb in my opinion. If you're gonna buy a 350$ watch you need to offer the same or more that the apple watch ecosystem does. I will never buy the premium version for my pixel watch 2 ever.
The Apple Watch, the phone you use it with, and the accessories are more expensive. Not to mention Apple has paid services to use with the watch. Yea, makes perfect economic sense to not pay for Fitbit Premium, but pay the higher prices for the Apple products. Stick to the gym bro.
No wireless charging is a no from me.
That's ok, but, why is Will Smith reviewing the Pixel Watch 2 ? lol.
I almost want to cancel my order after watching this.
Are you will smith?
Thanks for the great review. Subscription to see data that other watches offer for free? No thank you.
seeing how hard it is to sell, no its not
Great review. I definitely am making this my first smart watch purchase! I actually like the small size. I don't actually like the look of the apple watch, preferring the nice smooth bevel of the PW2. And being round it actually looks more like a classic watch. Can't wait!
Actually the Apple Watch is amazing. You’ll wish it were at least 44mm once you have it.
I'm not paying for no subscription 😢
Cant reverse charge from the pixel like the pw1, why?
Circular face sucks for a screen, everything is cut off, everything is tiny; make the screen square with square corners
Needing to pay for fitbit sub is stupid, if i already bought the thing, it shouldnt cost MORE to use the thing; just make it free, you already need to pay for a cell plan! NO MORE FKN SUBS.
2023 overpriced subscription model, 2015 bezels.
No thanks.
pre order gift by bying pixel 8 pro. yes please!
What a daft decision regarding the wireless charging
Just Got my 1st Pixel watch 2 But is it Only me? I feel like the Crown is loose! Like it Spins to fast No resistance! On it 🤔 Small Watch but Love it
