    Thank you so much for watching! Have you ever made your own vanilla extract? How will you be using your vanilla bean scraps?

      That’s my favourite one out of the bunch! It started out as an experiment and it turned out to be such a lovely product.

    good morning quick question on the reusing the beans for more extract. I presently have a 8c/ 8oz going want to wait a year. My question is when time comes how should I do the second batch to come out just as strong, should I do 8c / 4oz new 4oz old bean? Ty

      Hi! I usually don’t measure mine, but I would probably do 8c/6oz new bean and 2oz old bean. The more new beans you can do, the richer your extract will be. Hope this helps!

    I saw a single vanilla bean pod in a test tube looking thing for $10 at a grocery store. This was years ago, so I am sure it's even more expensive now.

      Vanilla beans can be prohibitively expensive when you buy them that way! I was gifted one of those test tubes once and it felt like I had gold hidden away in my kitchen cupboard. I usually buy them in bulk online and it costs me around $2 per bean.

      @@VintageKitchenVixen $2 per pod or per bean from a pod? I hate buying things online. Especially food. Not a fan of using credit cards online or not being able to go into a physical store. But good to know on the price.

      @@tilasole3252 I mean a pod. When it comes to vanilla, “bean” and “pod” are often used interchangeably. Pod is the correct term, however 🙂

      @@VintageKitchenVixen you can never be too careful. Crack on the street is cheaper than some organic foods. I wouldn't be surprised if you were referring to a single bean. =P like you said that test tube vanilla bean was like gold to you in your cupboard

    I make my own almond milk using almonds, water, dates and vanilla extract. My blender is powerful. Instead of making extract can I simply put the whole vanilla beans in the blender?

    • @VintageKitchenVixen
      @VintageKitchenVixen  9 месяцев назад

      I’ve never tried blending a whole vanilla bean before, so I don’t really know, but I know some people will blitz their vanilla pods when making vanilla sugar, so I think it’s worth the experiment!

    If you double the sugar, the syrup will last longer.
