    Great to see the 9ema traded on the short side. I use this for my long breakout scalps and momentum plays with a combination of rsi to determine strength and longevity. Some of these indicators really can help a trader with their personal strengths if used correctly. It certainly takes alot of time and experimentation though to figure out what works. Once again I feel like SMB made this video for me lol! Please don't ever stop doing what you're doing guys

    🧡💛💚💙 I used to find it very hard to go with moves (being a natural fader), so having the 9-ema and 21-ema were big helps... giving you a free "level" to lean on, when there's strength. Great stuff Mikey 🧡💛💚💙

      I'm the same, trying to break a habit I have. I have issues with bias. If a market trending in one direction for most of the day and then changes . I will lose money still betting in the direction of the old trend.
      So now I use a moving average cross. I never trade against it.
      And it doesnt give me the earliest signals ,but at least 1/4 of the way through the new trend it will cross and I will get out of the way.
      Its worked so much better
      I use the 9,13 and 21

    Very informative video I really wondering why you don't hear you talk about Fibonacci for time and price exits . Looking at the chart posted I had 23 bars from high to high and that came out to 51.42 bars the 2.236 for time to take profits
    And the high and low of the the big opening bar came out to around 59.90 to 59.72
    I wounder if you use that at all
    Hope to hear your comments on this
    Thanks

    Very usefull video!!! Whats the difference betwwen 2 strategies: vwap and 9 EMA?

    • @tradelogikk8182
      @tradelogikk8182 3 года назад +2

      VWAP or the 9 EMA by them selves are not strategies but indicators. Lagging indicators in this case. Exponential Moving Averages are typically viewed as momentum indicators. VWAP is an average price that takes or "weighs in" the the volume.
      You can build strategies around these indicators but they themselves are not strategies to trade the market.
      Make sense?
      Personally I use my EMA indicators to gauge momentum and help me pin point reversals.
      For VWAP I generally will not get long a stock under VWAP and will not short a stock above VWAP as that is usually nothing but fighting the trend.
      Not always though. There are exceptions to this. Hence we are discretionary traders.

    Is there anyway you guys could zoom in when you comment on a certain point of the trade a lot of us look at this on a cell phone and can't really see too good of where you're talking about

    • @MichaelScarchilli-M4Marketing
      @MichaelScarchilli-M4Marketing 3 года назад

      Basically zoom in on your entries and exits and when you're talking about the tape if it's relevant to the trade to zoom in on it a little bit would be cool

    Loved the way you used #9ema in the title and tags etc. It really attracts us, traders, to here. :D This video was so much more, though.
    Bella actually said, any indicator. I agree, Adam Grimes, for example, uses the Keltner with a similar purpose. Thanks for sharing guys.
    Question: Specifically for this trade, would you consider adding risk in the pullbacks to the 9ema or do you think the risk/reward was not great?

  • @tsleong1
    @tsleong1 3 года назад

    I can see for charting you're using TOS, I was wondering what other platforms you're using and what advantages they give you. It looks like maybe putting Bollinger Bands on your 9EMA might be good to tell you how far away you are from there to do scale outs.

      @ryanoconnell7839 3 года назад +1

      In my opinion, watching traders read the tape in real time in videos (that you can slow down if needed) is somewhat easier for learning tape reading than a book for this subject specifically. If you like SMB, then I suggest starting with their tape reading playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLo5LM9g7UwibT8liQRDdO8bh8bA3hH2su Books on this subject may be more helpful after getting a good visual framework for what's going on in level 2 data.

    9ema better than 9sma?

    • @paulduggan2
      @paulduggan2 3 года назад +2

      EMA will react to movements a little sooner than SMA. EMA places more emphasis on the more recent bars, whereas SMA treats them all the same, just divides by the period number to give you a result.
      Try putting a 9SMA and 9EMA on a chart and look back at how much later the SMA would have got you into your trade. Also, try looking at longer period MA’s too, like a 50EMA and 50SMA to see bigger differences in their response times.
      AND… if you fancy it, have a look at the WMA (Weighted Moving Average) too, that’s even quicker than the EMA!

  • @jsprowse

    Why does Mike keep calling it the "9 minute EMA"? Isn't it a 9 *day* EMA?

    • @jaymoneytrader
      @jaymoneytrader 3 года назад +3

      9 period ema would be a better name.
      It doesn't matter what time frame you're on, it's taking the last 9 bars
