Just received my multipurpose portafilter, High Extraction baskets, puck screen and shower screen from Pesado. IMPRESSED! Shipped to Norway in no-time and have tried the portafilter and small basket. I have been using VST baskets before and I don't know how Pesado does it, but the change of taste to the coffee is easy noticeable. Taste is an individual thing, but for me: I totally prefer the Pesado! I have yet to change my IMS nano tech shower screen as I ran into some trouble pulling it out and the result is a need to change the shower gasket. All products seem to hold excellent quality levels for a reasonable price.
Thank you for sharing. I only tried their regular, non high extraction basket. I am sure yours is much better. I will be comparing 2 high extraction baskets from China soon, against current champion Wafo.
Have you seen : "VST basket fail" by The Wired Gourmet ❓ I have answered to his video : " I'm getting into espresso and will probably soon be buying a LELIT machine, complete with IMS baskets. The dealer offers VST (he swears by them). I don't think I'll listen to him, and decide : BOYCOT for VST ( does he get a good margin on their sales ❓🤣) . " Thank you for your video 🙏
Thx for watching. I am not the biggest fan of IMS tbh so would go for VST or Pullman, whichever is currently cheaper. There are plenty other good baskets of which I have many videos about. Please let me know how you like your espresso machine.
I'm waiting for the VST, ordered it to replace the ECM machine came with. The ECM basket is way too big for me, 22g and would fit more if the grind is finer. So took the opportunity to get a VST. Will have to wait and see :)
I have a very old IMS basket about 6 years old, I'm not sure if IMS has gotten better with their baskets. With the Pullman 17-19g, I noticed a better extraction with and without a paper filter. Also in terms of shots, I'm just getting less channeling with the Pullman for some reason that IMS. Shots are noticeably better, for sure.
@@LandsoulFFXI thx for sharing. I also prefer Pullman over IMS. My favourite still is Wafo Soe/Spirit but more and more very good baskets are available now. I would recommend to check Kafmasino.
Thank you for this very in depth review. I've tested these three basket as well for commercial use (la mar classic and Mythos one). The result is quiet different from yours. Pesado HE gives most flavorful taste on my dark roast blend coffee, pullman and VST are similar, not as good as pesado. But on my light roast Ethiopia, VST gives most pleasant aroma but pesado fails this time, it tastes bitter and boring. So I think the performance of baskets differ from the roast lever itself very much.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Remember that I only have regular Pesado, not the HE version but you are correct about the rest. Different roasts would work differently with those baskets. I recently bought 2 baskets forom China I will be testing soon
I own IMS, VST and Pullman876. IMS is the least, and both VST & Pullman876 are very similar. However, I found myself prefer the flavour from Pullman876 more. Basically, Pullman876 is my daily driver. I have 17-19g and 19-22g.
Hi, nicer review. try also when you can a comparison with Pesado He[%]. I sold my Vst, IMS, decent and Pullman and I only use basket's from pesado. I had to replace my portafilter end I had to grind much finer, but in the and I think is a good investment.
Thank you very much. There are so many baskets coming almost on the monthly basis so it is difficult to keep up with them all. I will put Pesado HE on the list.
@@mycoffeeshow111 Maybe you can borrow it from someone in the UK. I can send them to you for testing, but I think the transport from Romania to the UK and vice versa is quite a lot
@@mycoffeeshow111 thanks for the tip, I will try. In Romania I buy in general from Mabo coffee. The owner is Bogdan Georgescu who was vice world champion in roasting coffee in 2019. But I will definitely try your recommendation.
Thank you so much! That is a tricky question. Kinu is my favourite espresso hand grinder. DF83 is my favourite reasonably priced electric grinder. DF83 offers you more in terms of clarity if you modify the declumper, it is better for pour over even with stock burrs and you can also upgrade to some fancy SSP if you wish to spend more.
Loved the animation at 3:32 :D Would be interesting to test the new IMS Big Bang basket: supposed to be kind of high-extraction, but cheap; can be had for ~15 GBP
Had one and returned it. The pucks are either soupy or when in tact they won't come out when knocking. Not worth it for me with the small up in sweetness it gave

Pullman with a filter is also my personal choice for my espresso
Thx for sharing. Pullman is always a decent choice. I am still not convinced on paper filters.
@@mycoffeeshow111 I cut my own filters from a v60 usually. You can try different filters and see what is best for you.
