Two methods. Either buy the EID license off Motorola, you either need a free business account or you go through a Moto dealer. Or, you employ the Depot hack that some German developed and then shared. It basically allows a user to add lots of EID's to XPR models, the most popular of the hacks is adding AES256 to an XPR handheld or mobile
I got an 8400 right after ,and that's getting installed as a community GMRS repeater in three weeks. I didn't tune the radio, never used TUNER for that though I have an XPR5550e in UHF that refuses to TX near the edge of it's published specs so I guess I'll need to learn!
@@QuintusCaecilius-n2u In regards to Motorola and people obsessed with having the latest firmware. I think it it ain't broke don't fix it. I haven't touch the firmware on my trusty APX8000 because it just works.
Have you made any modifications? I’m interested in doing this maybe using a controller and adding a remote base and all star
I just tried replying but you used an invalid email address to contact me
I have one of these XPR8300's and was wondering how to go about enabling the analog/digital mixed-mode function ???

Did you tune the repeater before use or could you get by with only tuning the duplexer?

@@NigelBallard Thanks. It's reassuring to know tuning isn't necessary although I'm sure it would definitely help get the full power out of the device
