  • Alpe D'huez was our base for a week whilst we did the Megavalanche. The ticket costs covered the chairlifts for the week so it would be rude not to make use of it
The riding in the main is typical groomed manicured clay and not my kind of thing. I find quite it quite tame and boring cruising down a descent for 30 - 40 mins on berm after berm with some tabletops thrown in. Some of the trails were a bit more interesting and we found one on trailforks which was a little bit more technical but if you like steep technical riding on more natural trails as I do there is not a lot on offer here and I wouldn't use this as a base for a week if I came back. It was good to be able to do the mega and qualifier prior to the actual event but that was the only real benefit
The camera angle was a much lower than I would have liked on this edit but decided to use the footage rather than waste it. The crash on the second run on the first day 01:51 really knocked the stuffing out of me for the week and damaged my ribs so I couldn't breath properly without pain and this certainly didn't help for the race
