The Devs are actually working on console ports + Boss Rush mode. And considering the game's a great success, we might get a director's cut of some sort in the future, as this game had a lot of cut content because of lacking time/resources.
This was my first souls like and i didnt find it that frustrating despite what some made it out to be. I felt it rewarded experimentation and the challenge came more from not knowing your options and enemy patterns rather than superhuman reflexes or unclear rules. I especially love the qi charge and internal damage mechanic. You're rewarded with a strong offensive attack for taking the time to practice defensive parries and if you havent mastered the timing yet (such as when meeting a new enemy type for the first time) you can still avoid permanent damage as long as you keep avoiding damage until restored. Thats very generous of a game that sells itself on the satisfaction on overcoming difficult bosses and challenges.
Seems like Nine Sols is increasing in popularity and support, noice. I'm glad for it. At the moment my attentino's more with Cookie Cutter, likewise a hand-drawn 2D animated platformer. It's the debut title and proverbial love child of the lead dev with quite a story to its creation. It's quite out-there, doesn't seek to reinvent the genre or anything-- it's something that came from the heart, does it quite well and is a solid time. The lead dev's active in asking for feedback and criticism to make it the best it can be on a technical level, loves to share new ideas, and there's more planned. In fact, he's currently working on a number of ports, and a few months ago he shared that support has allowed for working on a big new update/addition to it in terms of gameplay, areas, characters, stories and the like. Recommend looking it up.
Really just a banger of a game. Story is solid and not just cliche bad writing. Hand drawn art is fantastic. Combat is responsive, controls are snappy, enemies are challenging but fair. Map design is well done, exploration is rewarded, secrets are densely packed into each map block. Can't believe their last games were story driven horror games. This plays like someone who has a long standing history of 2D action platformers. I describe it as "If Sekiro and Hollow Knight adopted a kitten, raised that kitten as their own, then put it in a space ship and sent it to colonize another planet."
I know it's not usually a good sign that I couldn't watch more than the first 2 minutes, but the beginning of the video was enough to convince me to play, and I can't bare to watch anymore without spoiling myself for what's to come.
I got the game recently and I've been having a blast. I finished Hollow Knight, so I am not a noob but Nine sols, in my opinion, is even better. Yes, HK has more stuff to it thanks to the DLCs and updates, but NS is more fun to me. I turned from a chicken to a tai-chi god while playing this. I can't even count the amount of times I died because a boss or miniboss walked/touched me in HK. It got to the point I prolonged fights more than needed by ducking out due to fear of being touched by the hitbox and lose a life. I still love both games xand wait for Silksong, but NS removed my fear from that. I can walk past enemies, zoom through without fearing death and can easily parry attacks. I just beat Goumang and haven't died even once!
Very good video but I would recommend that future videos use material from the early game instead of showing so much. I already know the game, so it doesn't make any difference to me anymore, but if someone doesn't know the game yet, then they see far too much here.
there's a hummm in your background. Either something isn't connected properly mic wise, or you had a fan in the background, either way, there's a hummmmmm. Good audio is very important to a video. It sounds good other than that.
@@nownothingwillbewrong2958 yeah, mine too, I had played nine sols up until the second main boss and dropped it, I didn't put my first comment without knowledge, nine sols won't have a sliver of the impact hk had because it's simply not that good

Good cause the General and Lady Ethereal are my favorite fights.
The devs havent comfirmed to be working on a Boss Rush mode actually. Though there is a boss rush mod made by the community you can try right now.

I really like the End song of nine sols. The emotion exploded suddenly when the song come out
Lady Ethereal might be one of my fav boss fights of all time

I loved Sifu and I Loved Hollow Knight. This was a massively needed mix.

Great review man. Couldn't agree more with your takes on this fantastic game.

Enjoy the game. Its well worth it.
@@DreaminJohn At what I believe to be the last boss. This game was exactly what I needed.

RIP to my boy Spirit Keeper: Cixing, My Queen Eigong and Shanghai 9000
I had fun watching you stream it for sure, so many deaths
As a person that absolutely detests perfect blocking/parry mechanics as the core combat element I still think it's a 9/10 game.
So tempted to just buy this on steam and double dip when it comes to console for the physical.
How good wa this really? I really enjoyed the demo.
Its great. Easy to get into if you like good combat.
@@DreaminJohn I love good combat and exploration

PS port?
no it doesnt
nine sols has better combat, progression, and "voice acting". More difficulty≠Better game. I prefer hks endings though

Is it just as buggy (ha), badly performing and annoying to control as Hollow Knight or what grants the comparison?
