Well done, Josh. That was certainly quick thinking by you. You managed to save the boat, calm your mom, get off the river, onto a lock, and persevere to find the tiller. Hats off to you.
What a horrible experience! Thank goodness you are both okay. Great kudos to Josh for his quick thinking. You could have been drifting down the River Severn with no means of steering. Olive with you and the cats on board could have ended up going over a weir, that doesn't bear thinking about.
That was a blessing in disguise. 0:04 Just imagine how things could have gone trying to get to Stourport in those conditions. You're still alive and have a boat, but that could easily have not been the case. It was a huge unnecessary risk ever going onto the river. The river will still be there tomorrow, just wait it out and be patient.
I think we have definitely learnt our lesson here and we did eventually wait for the levels to go down and successfully got to Stourport as you will see in a future vlog.
Maybe stick to green boards guys, not worth the risk. You are both so so lucky it could of gone very seriously wrong very quickly but hats to you Josh, you did absolutely amazing to take control of the situation so quickly and save olive and your mum!!! Well done mate.
He reacted very well and stayed so calm I can't believe it. Thanks to Josh and his quick thinking he saved me and Olive and of course the six cats aboard. He was so determined to get the tiller back as well.
Thank goodness you managed to get back on the canal, it must of been very scary thinking you could get swept away down the river, and you got the tiller back 😁.
It was a bit scary at the time and thanks to Joshs quick thinking he managed to save the day and with great determination got the tiller back so all good in the end.😊
OMG!!!!!!! You were so so lucky this happened by the pontoon and lock. I would of had a melt down! Thank the Lord you'r safe. Take care. Love Lucy & Rollo xxxx
Crikey what an awful experience 😮 so glad you are ok and olive didn't end up drifting with your mum onboard the damage could have been so much worse. So glad you were able to get a new bike Josh, I'm sure you will always remember this day but let's hope lady luck is on your side from now on.
It was very scary at the time as you can see from my reaction but Josh managed to save the day by jumping off onto the pontoon. It could have been so different 😊
When I heard Diane screaming and crying I thought she’d been hurt and my blood ran cold. I hate rivers. Wish you could come off until better conditions prevail. Glad you’re safe.
😂😂 sorry josh and mum it was a good laugh but yet very serious guys I'm so glad you got things sorted I need to give you 👏👍 for fast thinking as well else like mum said she floating down the river 😅 ❤❤ you guys can't wait for the next video 😁😁
That was so scary happening out on the river but Josh was so unbelievably calm. No one there to help you either. Hope you have recovered. I have seen the photos but it was still very very dramatic to watch and hear. You will definitely remember that place forever! Hope life gets a bit calmer for you through May xx
Very dodgy. Wow. Assuming olive will now be pulled out for a fix. You should use this opportunity to fix all your steering issues. Get the engineer to design and fit a much bigger, better rudder. Olive’s rudder is way too small for a 70 footer. 🙂🙂
We didn't have to get Olive out of the water as a welder came to her and welded the tiller back on so all good. When we blacken her again we intend to get a bigger propellor.
AHH !! That happened to me the bike rear wheel Gripped the lock gate at hungerford and dragged it off the bike rack into the lock luckily I hadn't tied it round the tiller it happened again at Atherstone but the front wheel stayed on the rack bikes are a pain but I did see a boater with his bike stood on end on his rack so it doesn't stick out at the sides of the stern but what an experience you had talk about Narrow escapes Dianne how scary , how about the Basingstoke Canal so all us viewers can sleep at night 🥺 !!
We will be heading for the Basingstoke canal later on. We have tried to go on there about 3 times and due to covid, lack of water etc we haven't been able to. Let's hope we can this year. We won't be putting the bike on the back of Olive anymore. We have had too many problems with it.
Well you guys are definitely entertaining… I don’t think you realise how lucky you are… I know you imply you have a lot of bad luck… but seriously… you haven’t learnt from the Thames, when you had no idea of the engine capabilities… no life jackets… that roller could easily have swept mum overboard… no mum! … and the fact that the boat drifted onto a pontoon must mean that someone has been lighting a candle for you… If you dance with the devil… eventually you will get burned… please enjoy your boating and love your video work… but be safe… not numpties 😊
I know Howard I think for once we had a bit of luck and without Josh being there to pull Olive in I don't know what I would have done. Lesson learnt I think.
Why would you even think a out going out on a fast flowing river on yellow boards,70ft long and then try to turn into the current why?you could of lost your boat or even your lives lets hope its a lesson learned.
Bikes are a blummin nightmare outside whilst moving aren't they, either they are in the way or they end up mangled and in the cut. I see some proper old timers with bikes on the stern, I wonder how many incidents they had before they just gave up and let the gods of the water do its thing.
If youu'd like to support us, to help pay for coal, diesel, etc. You can buy us a coffee here, Thank you - www.buymeacoffee.com/TaylorAboard
Why guys?. That river is deep and powerful. My god, you guys are lucky you didn't lose your home. ❤
I know Will we could have ended up heading to Worcester without any steering lucky Josh managed to get off of Olive.
Well done, Josh. That was certainly quick thinking by you. You managed to save the boat, calm your mom, get off the river, onto a lock, and persevere to find the tiller. Hats off to you.
It could have been so much different if it wasn't for Joshs quick thinking and determination to get the tiller back.😊
What a horrible experience! Thank goodness you are both okay. Great kudos to Josh for his quick thinking.

I know it doesn't bear thinking about. Thank goodness for Joshs quick thinking 🤔
Crikey how scary was that !, mum sounded so frightened and upset .
Well done Josh, quick thinking and not giving up paid off 👏👌
Thank goodness for Joshs quick thinking Sue. Things could have been a lot different and so proud of him for his determination to get the tiller back.😊

It was very scary at the time. Lucky for Joshs quick thinking it worked out okay.😊

All good Sheila. Could have been a lot worse 😊
OMG!!!!!!! You were so so lucky this happened by the pontoon and lock. I would of had a melt down! Thank the Lord you'r safe. Take care. Love Lucy & Rollo xxxx
We were both a bit shaken at the time Lucy nut thanks to Josh saving the day everything turned out okay.

Thank goodness you’re all safe. What a scary experience 😮
We are both okay thanks. But it was a bit scary at the time. We could have been heading downstream to Worcester without any steering 😮
When I heard Diane screaming and crying I thought she’d been hurt and my blood ran cold.
I hate rivers. Wish you could come off until better conditions prevail.
Glad you’re safe.
It was a bit of a shock and a bit scary as you could here but Josh saved the day thank goodness and all turned out okay in the end.😊

That was so scary happening out on the river but Josh was so unbelievably calm. No one there to help you either. Hope you have recovered. I have seen the photos but it was still very very dramatic to watch and hear. You will definitely remember that place forever! Hope life gets a bit calmer for you through May xx

We will try not to do anything silly like this again. Lesson learnt I think 🤔
How terrifying for you both. After the fact. Lady luck in a way was shining down on you for sure. It could have been so much worse. Take care.
I know Howard I think for once we had a bit of luck and without Josh being there to pull Olive in I don't know what I would have done. Lesson learnt I think.
Your bucket of luck has arrived

We won't be putting the bikes on the stern anymore. Mine will be on the roof and Joshs inside of Olive. We don't intend to take any more risks.
What did you call Josh? lol.
So good finding the tiller
True determination on Joshs part finding the tiller. We were lucky in that respect 😊
Ey up me ducks.
