- Today we've got a huge update as we cruise back to the Canal centre, after spending a few days at Ash lock. Unfortunately, its bad news for the campervan, as its condition is much worse than we thought. So bad we had to buy a new car! Spelling the end of our short-lived sister canal Taylors Aboard a Campervan. But there's also some good news, about the state of the broken lock on the Basingstoke canal...

Oh wow so sorry to hear about the van - we had exactly the same last year with our car. First the breaks packed in then a couple of weeks after the gearbox/clutch packed in ( couldn't change gear and then would only go into 2nd) Was going to cost £1500 to take apart and see what problem was and then another £1000 at least to fix. We managed to sell her for scrap at £1750 and luckily I still had some savings so managed to get another 2nd hand car. If anything happens to this one there is no savings left to get another as we are retired at over 70 . You really have all my sympathies. Hope Andy manages to get a better job and things sort themselves out for you all.
How did you get £1700 for your car scrap. We have just got a meesley £350 for the van.😮

Wow what a car guys at least you can take out all the tech out the van as that reversing gear was amazing it may transfer to the Saab but real leather sheats look lovely !!
