Lol you're so lucky that that's you're craziest client! I think my worst client would be a bridal trial that lasted for FOUR HOURS. I was fairly new in freelancing at the time, so I definitely learned my lesson and knew how to approach or prevent a situation like this if it was to occur again. She was the most pickiest, undecisive person. When I asked for inspirational pics so that I can get a better idea, they ranged from soft glam to full glam to smokey eye. I asked her what she liked about each makeup look, she would say "I don't know, just the look" At the end, she didn't book me (which I was thrilled about) and went to a more well known MUA in our area. But overall in my years of freelancing, I would say that most of my clients are the sweetest!
Oh my gosh 4 hours?! That’s insane! My longest was 2.5 and I felt like I was going crazy after that. I now have a max time of 2 hours for trials (lesson learned). That must have been beyond frustrating that she was SO picky and didn’t even book! Thank you so much for sharing your story girl!
Yeah the first red flag was “no one has ever been able to get my makeup right” 😳. I figured drugs were involved when you got to the fact that she was so jittery and hyper and definitely when she fainted and came to like it was no big deal. I work in healthcare and have had patients come in high and drunk. It’s no fun and definitely bizarre. Glad it ended well (or as well as can be expected) and she wasn’t belligerent or aggressive. Depending on the drug some people can be hard to handle when the are using. Lucky it wasn’t meth 😬.

Oh my gosh! Yes! So true with mirror, also constantly checking on the phone is annoying af 😂 I had a client, who did not put her phone down and when she does, she keeps checking on the mirror 🤦🏽♀️
@@mizwonton7736 I’ve definitely said something before! You kind of just have to find a way to stand your ground , but not be super rude about it. It’s a fine line, but usually I just ask them if they could put their phone down for the next 30 mins or however long it takes you and they can check it when you finish. Usually people are pretty understanding!

Working at Ulta I had a man come up to me and asked if we could apply makeup on men. I told him of course no problem and then asked what he had in mind as I walked him back to the salon to look at the books..... He asks me first if I watch ‘criminal minds’, I say yes I love that show. He says his wife does too and her fav character is Derek Morgan ( ‘chocolate thunder’ his words). I’m just like ok what exactly are you wanting done. He says he wants to look like him. This man is a older white bald man... I say oh! Well they can bronze you up and do some contouring to make you look similar. He interrupts me and says I want his skin tone.... I just looked up from my computer and told him we were all booked up for what he needed. And told him a theater store I shopped at might have better supplies than we did for what he needed.... also he threw in some comments about how this is for them in the bedroom for there anniversary!!! I WILL NEVER FORGET!!! I fucking hope it was all a joke I was never in on and not a guest asking me to do black face for them... 😭😢

Found out the product is an alcohol brand, they need a makeup artist if the guests need a touch up before taking selfie on their photo booth. I tho that was it, ended up I had to bring costumers that passing by on our booth to come in to taste the new drink! I emailed them that I signed up the job as MUA not as sales girl & they were not happy lol.
Wow that would be incredibly frustrating and I’m totally on your side! You definitely shouldn’t have been put in the position especially when that’s not what you signed up for! Thanks for sharing girl :)
My crazy client story was this woman who started throwing and ripping things, and calling us racist names. Security was called and took like 10 minutes to get there, so she had a lot of time to destroy a bunch of fragrances, hair care, makeup, and much more. I got hit by a hair brush, but people literally had to get stitches, some got big bruises, and one associate got glass in her eye. It's been a decade, but I still feel that customers are usually wrong.
I mean I think the point of “the customer is always right” is that you should be courteous to the customer. You know make them feel welcomed and comfortable. Where it goes wrong is when customers take it way too far and get entitled

Girl you were being so extra when you said you couldn't apply her lashes because they weren't MAC. Literally noone would care if you did, it's not that big of a deal.
Yes I definitely realize that lol it technically was a different charge depending on who applied them in our store but at the time I was a heavy rule follower!

Yes, both are extremely annoying when you're trying to get your job done! I don't let my clients have access to mirrors anymore if I can help it.
