I’ve had the D400 EX for a couple of weeks. It sounds very good with my Adam audio A7V studio monitors. Some have complained that volume is different when streaming through Tidal or other streaming services, but I have not noticed that. To me, this is an excellent DAC and I recommend it very highly. Nice video!

I'm also looking to buy it, but don't know what to expect. Does it sound warm? I want ak dacs specifically for their warmer sound, as my system is more geared towards detail and dynamics, I want to smooth the top end. I'm running Azur 851N as a preamp, crown 2502 for power, on Focal Aria 948s.

ESS on Su10 for bright detailed sound, and AK on 400 for warm sound.

Price is different.. ESS is more transparent and AKM is more warm ! ESS has long history of hump 😊 Bluetooth 5.1 or 5.2 function is out of concern .. unless it can play Hi-Rés 96Khz or 192Khz 😂 In summary, if you already owned ÉSS9038Pro or AKM4499EQ .. there is very very tiny improvement in sound for our ear !!
