@@alexgiron9524 yeah, before trost was attacked Samuel along with eren and the gang were on top of the wall during the colossal titan's appearance. They were talking about their future and expanding the lands to get more meat. He was the one sasha saved. Daz was the one who got all scared and disobeyed orders from the garrison during titan eren's boulder mission

The fact that we met Samuel and Daz all the way back in episode 3, and now nine years and +80 episodes later, they finally meet their horrible deaths. Even though they were super minor characters it is heartbreaking to see their deaths.
Yeah daz showed up 3 times in the whole series.
Samuel one time and if you think about it. Why samuel joins on eren and flochs side was probably because of sasha.
His saviour and friend was killed in action probably made him bitter towards the outside world. He was with the main cast since day 1.

It’s extra sad because you can tell that neither side wanted to kill the other. Samuel shot Armin but just gave a warning to Connie because he knew Connie couldn’t heal himself, and Daz was hesitating to finish off Armin
Daz just couldn't do it, he knew in his heart that it was the wrong thing to do and that's why he died

Historia and Sasha saved lives and Connie ruined it
Historia and ymir saved daz. So he probably wants whatever outcome would make historia safe.
Samuel owes his life to sasha. And probably hearing what happened to her made him side with eren and floch.
Daz was hesitating to finish off armin.
Samuel til the end wants armin and connie to surrender. Both of these guys were with the main cast since day 1. If they didnt joined the garrison I'm sure they could've been closer.

What I find so interesting and tragic both about this scene was that they took Reiner and Bertolt's reveal and Bertolt's later confession in season 2 and completely flipped it around. Now it's Connie and Armin in their shoes and they know first hand what Bertolt was going through and what he meant that he legitimately saw them as their friends, but what he's doing is something that must be done.
It's even more tragic when you realize prior to the final season 3 battle after he saw Reiner's head blown off, Bertolt was holding back the Colossal titan's power the entire time and was trying not to directly kill anyone. Letting you know he was honest about what he was saying to his comrades.

Did you not notice Bertolt only ever used the nuclear explosion transformation and went all out with his fire and steam attacks in the finale season 3 battle after Reiner got his head blown off? Prior to that his transformations never caused any blast and he always used small steam attacks to repel anyone trying to kill him. Then he went back to his human form shortly after doing what he needed to do.
This episode actually made me cry harder than sasha's death for some reason >.

This made me love Connie, not because of he did, but because of how sad he was, how broken he was, but he still fought for his cause
This actually made me hate connie, never loved him, but after this I hate him even more... also this whole I want to stop Eren, and save the world thing is kinda sad. This anime is a disappointment for me sadly :(

Everything came full circle. Just like Reiner and Berthold had now betray friends to save the world so do Armin and Connie now. AOT is genius.
The VA for Connie deserves an award for this performance.
it really is interesting to see the different parallel, in the show Armin and Connie played the very same roles as Reiner and Bert in season 2&3, now seeing how Samuel and Daz had to be like Armin, Connie, Jean, Sasha, and many others in the Scouts from previous seasons, damn this show is so well written
The most harrowing thing about season 4 is the loss of innocence from so many of the characters. People forced to do things they’ve never imagined they would need to do.
AoT is never short of scenes with strong emotion and deep conflict. Erwin's last speech, Invasion of Eldia and Marley against each other, and many others, and this.
This is literature.
Extra sad because Connie felt really betrayed and hurt by Reiner and the others in the first seasons, but now he understand them and he has to go through being considered a traitor and murdering his friends too...

The scene is not sad for the death of the two because more important characters had less sad deaths, but for what it represents.
Neither Daz nor Samuel managed to kill the armin even though he could kill them even though he was a traitor because they consider him a companion.
The fact that they all graduated as cadets and became scouts. Only to kill one another is messed up

This scene absolutely devastated me at first, it's so incredibly written. Will never forget this story
By far the most complex and horrible scene in all AoT. The tragedy of the war. The best series of all time until now. I remember I'd cried like a child when I saw it. This scene, the Erwin last speech and the Armin sacrifice are the most heartbreaking scenes of all time.
The ost was like the cherry on top in this scene 🥲

I read the manga and when I read this page I didn’t think that much of it. When I read it I didn’t think about how much emotion some music and voice acting can put into this scene which is y I love it when I get to watch the anime and see it really come to life. I knew this messed Connie up after I read it but I could really feel it when the VA did that scream the pure emotion and despair he put into that scream sends chills down my spine. The most unsettling thing to watch is the comedic relief character fall into despair we got a glimpse of that last season now we r getting the full picture.
Yeah I read the manga up to where S3 ended and stopped. The music and VAs are just too good not to wait for the anime...even though it takes forever

Yeah this and the following port battle were so forgettable in the manga to me, but absolutely incredible in the anime.

This shows how selfless Armin is cause had that have been Erwin.... He would've been like "I'll be back in 2 minutes" transformed and killed EVERYONE.
Not necessarily. Erwin did a bloodless coup when they easily could have killed all the nobles and uncooperative military police. Also the problem was that they needed to rescue the Azumabito and not destroy the ship and flying boat.

Agreed. Daz was in the show excuse I feel, especially in the Trost arc, but not Samuel.
I really wish both had got more scenes in Season 4. Samuel should have said something like "Sasha saved my life, I'm doing this to avenge her!" or something to remind viewers of the time she saved him and to emotionally destroy Connie even more.
You should add LM Reactions on your compilations, they have a lot of emotions on heavy AoT scenes (they’re not a small channel either)

AoT/SnK probably is one of the hardest watches in all of media in general. It's hard not to feel affected to your core during this scene.

The critical mistake was shooting Armin in the mouth. Until the very end he was straight up PLEADING with his eyes. Should have just let the man Talk No Jutsu.

Only to be shot by one of his friends... and samuel was such a good minor character. The people who didnt react to daz and samuel getting shot dont fully know the characters. Weve known them since episode 3 of season 1. Fuck man...
Samuel was hardly in the show at all tbf. We don't even see him again from Episode 4 of Season 1 till Season 4.
