One of my Ls? I gotchu.
I met a girl at a fancy hotel bar back in 2016. I struck up a conversation and asked her what she was doing at the hotel and she told me that she had organised a conference at the hotel with all the big players in the world to talk about green energy and sustainability. She asked me what I do and I said: "I made Goat Simulator. It's a video game about being a goat." She walked away before I could even tell her about multiplayer and our latest DLC.

And you know that any date will come with baggage (and that is nobody's fault. I'm not one to hate on women bc they went through shit, but it makes things difficult. Not to mention kids. Lots of single moms my age)
Recent first date was a "coffee date."
      Just over an hour chatting.
Was nice, she's a terrific woman (40, i'm 39) but she remained distant throughout (was hoping for SOME sign of potential attraction, though I'm not the sort for first date kissing, a hug or affectionate touch is always nice) and she briefly talked about past relationships. Knowing she is processing trauma from a controlling ex will make building romance more difficult, bc I already don't pressure women... and now I'll be concerned to be forward at all.
My LAST set of dates was pre covid, and after months of going out nothing happened. When she called me desperate for making a *single* double entendre I gave it one last chance, bought her a thoughtful gift and when it was CLEAR she had zero respect or affection for me (beyond somebody to hang out with when convenient) I stopped asking. She was a nice girl and I hope I left a fond memory... but honestly I can not understand why a woman would agree to date and then be incapable of even offering friendship.
      Can only offer solidarity.
      It sucks. We persist.

About 8 years ago when I was in my early 20s I really liked this girl at the front desk where I worked. I was really shy and awkward though, so I wanted my interactions with her to be perfect. I ended up talking to a bunch of people that worked close with her to find out things like her favorite flower and color, I asked them about her favorite TV shows and her taste in music-this way when I'd talk to her, I could cater the conversation to what she liked. She still didn't really engage in the conversations, so I kept digging with others about her to find out more about her. Eventually I bought her a big bouquet of her favorite flowers and left them on the front desk with a note asking her on a date. About a week later she quit. Soon after I found out that almost none of the things I was told were correct about her, including the favorite flowers that I bought for her, and she also knew that I was asking people about her and was creeped out that I didn't just talk to her instead and ask her those things instead of asking others. Super big L, but a huge learning moment for my awkward ass.

Fridges are massive power hogs. Your powerbill at the end of the month would be enormous. Mini fridges suck up almost as much power as a regular fridge, because the technology of keeping things cold is largely the same and requires just as much energy to work. Plus... mini fridges put out a lot of heat. So, it might overheat your TV or gaming console.
There is a reason why most people don't do that.

Also, being unable to go after the things you want in life is not a good trait to have. Expecting the man to do all the work is also toxic as it creates a dynamic of the man constantly having to perform in order to gain her approval and validation, which then gives her less incentive to put im equal effort. A relationship built on that kind of dynamic will mean that she will never see him as her equal. She will always see herself as the prize, and she will see him as the lucky contestant who happened to win the prize.

I was in choir in high school. I wore Coke bottle glasses and didn't consider myself a ladies' man in any way, but I had a crush on J, a senior who was beautiful, nice, and also on the drill team. Way out of my league on her most generous day, but always happy to say hi and such, never rude.
One day we were doing basic scales in choir and J was struggling, so I got the bright idea that I'd take the chance to help her out one on one before school. I asked the director if it was ok, he said sure, so i invited her and she agreed to meet up a couple mornings later.
I wrote out the scales on sheet music, had everything prepped, and was ready to gain her appreciation and respect by helping her learn her scales when I showed up early and got everything set up at the piano.
She showed up on time in a fancy western shirt and tight jeans, looking like she was ready for a night out. She smiled and sat down in the chair next to me and as I started getting into things, she said, "You know, Larry, choir is just a blow off class for me and I don't really care about learning the scales."
I got quiet, gathered my things and said, "Welp, I guess there's no point in being here," before I said goodbye and left to go on with my day.
At no point had I considered that she might have just wanted to spend time with me. No part of me questioned why she was so dressed up to practice scales. I thought she would he happy to learn something she was strugglng with and things might go from there and when she wasn't interested in the scales, I had no alternative plan in mind.
    Major L on my part...

@taliaeategg2027 1 round of antibiotics for 7 days will do it. Its not herpes. Herpes you can't get rid of. There is also a new form of gonorrhea that has come about the last couple years that is resistant to antibiotics so, I told all my kids to strap up, its getting dangerous out there. Of course chlamydia is something you can catch even with protection. Its an exchange of moisture between the downstairs of each partner. I also heard syphilis is making a comeback.

I remember back in late 2000s when my high school teacher was like "this online dating thing is going to become the new way to date and soon meeting people in public and hitting on them and asking them out is going to be considered creepy and stalkerish, and that the strangers online to meet up with will not be considered creepy and be normalized"... damn, was he right 🤣

One time I was ordering at a fast food joint. The cute cashier told me that I have such a soothing voice. Thought she was just being nice and thanked her, thinking nothing more of it. She seemed a little flustered and just disappeared in to the kitchen. Realised way too late she was flirting with me and I never saw her again.
