Actually yes, and I also tried a mechanism that I thought had great promise where it would throttle up automatically immediately upon release, but it seems to need all the power from the moment of launch. It's the main disappointing thing about this design, but so far so good for the power-on launches.
I love this one EA!! This is going to be a must build. I think I will do a build video that way I can get you the spider web, rib, spar wing I was telling you about last week. Since every wing I build with it varies, in the video I'll be able to explain it better. I will give all credit for the plane design to yourself and your channel as it is well deserved. I have a build request I could use some advice on, I'll P.M. you as to not give away the design to the world......yet, lol
Really good to see..I have been keen on doing some thing similar..to the Swift U/L sailplane powered version..you didnt mention if the airfoil is reflexed etc...KFM??..I assume its your airfoil construction...Rgds...Laurie
Hey Ed, Please tell me you are going to do a build vid. on the landing gear model I'm just dieing to have one. You know we love your planes, so please pretty please....
Made a Synapse about a month back and finally got a chance to maiden it. First wing I've ever flown and it was quite a treat. I was really nervous, but so easy to fly and stable. I don't have and FPV gear so I am just using the Turnigy 2836 1100kv motor with a 10x6 prop and a 3s1p 3000mah battery. Which I have found to be a great combo for a non fpv Synapse.
15 min with a 2000 mAh is an ok time maybe by modifying the wing you can get a better gliding and flying time, Wings are normally used for fpv and need to fly a bit longher . I love the landing gear . Really nice .
Looks like it flies GREAT!... Have you ever experienced the dreaded "Zagi-Flutter" at high speed?
Very cool Ed! I love the delta tube designs which seem to answer all of the wing plane equipment placement issues.
Well done bra!

No flutter, so far so good. The airfoil is pretty thick (1") which I believe would help resist fluttering.
Great videos! Thanks for uploading…
Hey Ed you inspire me to make my planes, thanks.
very NICE!! Really like the way this aircraft tracks . . perfect for GREAT FPV GoPro footage
I never seen this type of stability in ant flying wings... Amazing✈👍👍👍💯💯💯

ESC brake set for "on", every plane I own, and I never break a prop.
i put my esc to "brake" mode and have never broke a prop when landing various flying wing designs.
dang... I gotta build a fuse and landing gear on one of my wings... looks fun!

They are great looking planes. Would a super megajet motor work on them.

Very soon - wing firs,t then fuselage, then finish, trim, and setup.
im running a SMJ v2 from grayson with a 6x4 and it flys great, i have a 2200mah and i get unlimited vertical, and 15-25 min flights.

Not sure the specs on that one, but if you get better than 1:1 thrust to weight, then you're probably good.
On the plane without landing gear how do you protect the propeller from ground strikes while landing ?
Have you considered an 'atlatl' style launch, where the end of a stick would boost the plane like the end of a spear?
Have u tried throwing synapse first (no power) then applying power ?
How can I find this plant?
There is a video series playlist for this plane that has all the steps for building it.
i wonder too...?
1200 grams? Really? That seems pretty darned heavy.
Regarding the hand launch, take a look at this:

not scale ... but nice and funny ツ
Yes, really, with a 4000mAh battery.
